My G930 broke on me the other week after four good years. The micro-USB connector inside the headphones got dislodged from the board. I could probably fix it with some solder (according to Google), but I don't have any experience with that.

So I got a Tesoro Olivant Pro, which is really great so far. Super comfy, sounds great. Weird to go back to strictly wired, but it's a solid headset.

Really any of them. If you are just looking for quick and lightweight, get a gorillapod style flexible one just so you have greater stability (for timer shots, or remote shots) but aren't carting around a big aluminum deal. Something like: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DYL6UDW?psc=1

But if you want to get more into photography down the road, the amazon basics aluminum tripod is a really good deal, and will carry you all the way from novice to amateur (you'll want smooth glide and bearings when you go pro, but you'll also be a lot more picky and know exactly what you wanted): https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-50-Inch-Lightweight-Tripod-Bag/dp/B00XI87KV8/ref=sr_1_2?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1468847461&sr=1-2&keywords=tripod

I typically wouldn't encourage piracy but nobody ever watches anything just by someone recommending that they watch it later, or if it poses any inconvenience whatsoever, like "paying money" or something. Promise me you'll buy an official t shirt or something If you like it consider supporting the original creators.

Re: accessible as in gaining information - ASL is the best option according to the research.

With that said, most of the time it's strongly discouraged for CI users to learn ASL in fears it'd impair their speech acquisition while research shows it's the opposite. Why? ASL help them to better understand phonetics.

Having a CI doesn't mean you are hearing things on same level as hearing people. Those people are still deaf and still have needs CI will not address adequately alone. That's the huge misconception out there which triggers the deaf community. When they see a deaf child getting CI they know it's extremely very likely that child will be denied ASL and opportunity to interact with other deaf kids.

If you are not deaf yourself, you have no clue what it's like so do not presume to know what is best for deaf kids.

Sure, no argument there re: every one is an individual and have their own needs. Unfortunately in United States the matter is heavily hedged toward the medical end of the spectrum.

For decades in Denmark and Sweden whenever a parent have a deaf baby the first person to discuss the kid's deafness is not a doctor but a specially trained social worker. Those parents also meet with Deaf adults so they can see for themselves it's not all doom and gloom for their kid. Furthermore the law (at least in Sweden, not sure about Denmark) requires them to learn their country's sign language whose expenses are covered by the government.

With all of that, parents still could decide on using CI if they wish.

Before CI became more common throughout deaf children in Sweden, deaf children came to school ready to learn and they were graduating at same average grade level as their hearing peers. Whereas in United States your average deaf high school "graduate" barely can read at third grade level and I'm clarifying that's not only signing deaf kids but "oral" kids as well.

Anyway after CI became more common in Sweden, naturally many parents became lazy about using sign language at home thinking that CIs will make up the "difference." After that point, teachers at Swedish schools for the deaf found themselves needing to modify their curriculum in order to simplify for CI kids.

Like others have said, this is obviously participation bias. Those who purchase the book are likely to rate it highly.

You can see the exact same thing has happened with Milo's book, Dangerous. It's currently sitting at 4.9 stars from over 2000 reviews, which is just as ridiculous as Hillary's book having 4.8 from over 1,300 reviews.

Milo's book has 4.9/5 stars from 1,657 verified purchases (2,005 total).

Hillary's has 4.8/5 stars from 1,356 verified purchases (1,408 total).

Compare this to The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri sitting at 4.2/5 from 961 verified purchases (1,251 total).

I don't think anyone's saying that either of these books are better written than The Divine Comedy, just that both books are bought by fans of those people, who are likely to rate the books highly afterwards.

The one on the far right is pretty good.

Mark Crilley makes great instructional videos on how to draw Manga and realistic figures.

Here is a link to the book in question.

Tell that to the Khmer Rouge, ethno-nationalist communists who vaunted Khmer cultural and ethnic supremacy and who tried to cleanse Kampuchea of 'non-Khmer' elements like the Vietnamese, Chinese, & mixed-race Khmer. There was a reason Hoxha referred to them as "red fascists."

Also tell it to the German Communist Party (KPD) during its two 'National Bolshevik' periods- the early '20s, and the early '30s when the party was guided by the nationalistic 'Programme for the National and Social Liberation of the German People.' In the '20s the Party actively purged Jews from its ranks to try and win over nationalists to communism, and the book Weimar Radicals contains a bunch of political cartoons excerpted from KPD publications in the '30s which contained vicious anti-Semitic caricatures.

And that's not to mention the Communist Party of South Africa's open racism, twisting Marx's famous dictum into "Workers of the world, unite and fight for a white South Africa!" Or North Korea's vitriolic racial hatred for anyone not of the "Korean bloodline," though admittedly at this point it's arguable whether the DPRK is closer to a fascist/third-positionist state than a communist one. But yeah, apart from all those examples, communism never targeted race- not once. 👍👍

>read a book about socialism

Yes, please do! How about Gulag Archipelago? Also Inside the Soviet Army is pretty cool, too - the Amazon description makes it sound dry and boring, but it offers really good insight into the absolute clusterfuck that was the Soviet Union from an army officer's perspective.

In the few days before I got them, I almost did fuck up my wrists. lol

Here are the ones I got. Are they decent enough? They feel pretty great, and my wrists don't hurt.

Yep! A memory hazed nod to Colbert's far better phrased quote in I Am America and So Can You!... good stuff.

Yes, Portugal had already managed to build several outposts along Africa's shores before 1492. Newitt has written an excellent book on the subject, as have Earle & Lowe (eds).

Not kidding, I have a bunch of cherry MX and I almost prefer the ones I have with cheap Chinese switches. It's like typing on bubble wrap.

Highly recommend the Anne Pro 2 with gateron blues

the quality to price ratio has gotten a lot better over the last couple years

They're the same thing. Get yourself something like this, and improve your grip strength (you might want to buy one with a lower starting resistance, though). And also get some thicc forearms.

u/haxney · 1 pointr/CringeAnarchy

I have two fidget toys (not spinners like this) and have found them very useful. When I'm thinking, I instinctively reach for something I can play around with. I've broken paperclips, pens, cables, and other things within reach. By getting something like this, my office supplies are safe again.

Spending more than about $20 on such a thing would be totally insane, though.
