Dark Souls is a sure thing, DkSII is not out yet but I'm sure it will be good. I would put my money on getting the original for cheaper on sale or used. This way you can find out for yourself if you would like paying full price for a sequel. The single player experience is strong on its own and I can promise you the asynchronous multiplayer is not going anywhere because the Demon's Souls community is still active to this day. Heck you can get both Demon's souls and Dark souls for the combined price of roughly $16 used on sale through Amazon. (links provided)

Story wise your probably not missing out on much by playing DkS2 because I think the second game is divorced enough in time. That being said the lore of the first game is amazing. You would definitely missing out on a work of art if you don't play the original Souls games by Hidetaka Miyazaki. Here is a great write up about DkS that I feel you should read.

I've never connected a PS3 controller to my PC, but I'm positive that it's possible and nearly positive that it's possible to do so in a stable fashion :) This might help, but I've never used it. Reviews look pretty good though.

I suppose a more accurate term would be aerobics, but it can be slower paced and has more focus on stretching and balance, feels more like yoga to me. As far as I know it's not a widespread thing, I stumbled across a book about it when we were looking to mix up the fitness routine a little. The book demonstrates poses with wooden katanas but we rather like the extra work of real steel.

Here's the book if you're interested: http://www.amazon.com/Forza-Samurai-Sword-Workout-High-Intensity/dp/1569754780

Be warned its not a weight loss thing, it's more upper-body core strengthening with a focus on... focus and hand/mind/eye coordination.

Was the console one of the older "phat" models? Looks like this . If so, and provided is has that kind of hump, you can buy an Xbox 360 Data Transfer Cable . I'd also like to note that this will also work for a slim models hard drive but I don't recall if the slim models came with one or if it was an add in later. Hope this helps ya and good luck.

I have two wired controllers but between pets and kids tripping over them I don't use them. They work great on my PC though. I usually keep one of my wireless controllers with fresh batteries nearby so I can grab it real quick and turn it on. But now I always check the charge before hand. I've been using eneloop rechargeables for my controllers but it seems like they're getting weaker and not maintaining their charge for very long.

I don't know how attached you are to PS3 controllers, but you can but an xbox controller pretty cheap. I got the wireless for PC version for 20-30ish about 2 years ago, and it's still in great condition. Right now you can get a wired one on amazon for 35. http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-360-Controller-Windows/dp/B004QRKWLA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1419055172&sr=8-1&keywords=xbox+controller+for+pc&pebp=1419055427639

Any 360 wireless pad works (even if it came with your Xbox), but you need a special dongle for the PC. There used to be an official one, but it's hard to find these days and I believe is no longer in production. There are 3rd party ones available, however.

I have the official one so I can't speak for these, but it seems like the second one (though more expensive) has better reviews. It might be worth the few extra bucks since I've heard of some of the third party ones fail randomly.

The term "Clearly communicated to the player" and the souls series dont even inhabit the same universe. Half the fun are those "OHHHH, I see ..." moments.

The select button is there to help you out. Thats why it says "Help". If you need more help than that: http://www.amazon.com/Souls-Collectors-Edition-Strategy-Guide/dp/0744015472

It's fantastic, absolutely worth the money IMO. It's only $20 on Amazon here:

That's the link from ENB's video detailing the guide.

It does only have thumbnails for the weapons, but they're pretty good sized, and it also includes all the item descriptions as well.

The walkthrough section is great - the maps in particular are extremely handy. It also includes a section detailing every enemy and boss for each area.

For negatives, it suffers from the occasional bit of outdated information, which is common to basically all hardcopy guides nowadays. I've also noticed a few typos and misspellings, but that's more of aesthetic quibble.

Just cool stuff like this and this. Also a ton of shells, and cool colored LEDs for the middle button.

u/EzioSC5 · 1 pointr/DarkSouls2

The best option, all things considered, is to just get a wired Xbox 360 controller. It has almost universal support across all modern PC games, and you will have to do little to no configuring ever to make it work.

u/Dmystic · 2 pointsr/DarkSouls2

only for games that are highly frame dependant, such as fighters like Street Fighter or Guilty Gear. For a game Like Dark Souls you'll be fine using wireless.

Apparently the price of these has dropped significantly from what I remeber

That should be exactly what you're looking for.

u/CabbageForEveryone · 1 pointr/DarkSouls2

Hey I was just thinking of getting that. Would you recommend this controller or would the regular nunchuck and controller combo work just fine?

u/BaronVonWolfsFur · 2 pointsr/DarkSouls2

For which platform? AFAIK, you can only buy the season pass for PC. Either via Steam or some place like Amazon

u/ziggl · 2 pointsr/DarkSouls2

If only they could patch the not-recognizing-my-controller issue.

Edit: My controller is a super-cheap-ass TTX Tech controller for PC/PS3. I only needed to buy this because my best friend took my wired Xbox controller back in 2008... this may be the longest grudge I've ever held. I emailed support but no response yet.

I should say, when a controller is working properly, I should be able to use the right stick to control the camera, right?

u/CidO807 · 1 pointr/DarkSouls2

oh my apologies. I had just assumed they used something like you described, a capture card like this and it had pulled the data automatically from the recording.

u/Saskei · 2 pointsr/DarkSouls2

Oh! Well they have it on Steam, which is where I got it. If you don't like steam for some reason, then here is another choice.

u/raspberrykraken · 1 pointr/DarkSouls2

The Dark Souls 2 guide from Future Press has everything in the book not including DLC and the upcoming game update on February 5th. You can get it on Amazon right now for less than $20.

This is the only written source to date... if you ignore the wiki's poor form in lore. Because not only is it hard to look through but there is just endless spelling, grammar errors and the people who wrote it on the site don't know how to actually write very well.
