Your output from the HD60 pro is the same as its input. You've essentially added something in the middle of the connection.

Your computer isn't hooked up to your second monitor at all.

You could add a third monitor if you wish to keep your 2nd dedicated to the other HDMI source, or you could add an HDMI switch that you would plug your computer and HD60 pro into as input and then output to the monitor that would allow you to use it for both, but only one at a time.

Edit:

This allows you to have 2 HDMI sources into your monitor (HD60 and PC) and toggle between them.

> Redmere

"Redhead cables use a Redmere chipset that improves bandwidth and extends the capabilities of the cable. Thanks to this chipset, the cable can be thinner and still go farther than regular HDMI cables. The chip goes in the sink-side connector (the connector that goes to your TV), which is why the cable only works one way."

Taken from a quick search on Amazon for Redmere cables. That is very interesting!

Thanks for your response! I've been researching a few different adapters - would something like this be alright or do you know if this adapter would be a better investment?

I don’t know much about console because I’m mostly a PC gamer but I would try the following things:

  1. Get a high quality HDMI cable or just a different one and see if you still have issues.

  2. Use the headphone jack on the console and split the audio — one to your PC and one to your headphones. If you use this method you might need a DAC to amplify the signal before the split. I’ve also found the line splitter sometimes cause noise so you can get a ground loop eliminator.

I would have suggested you switch from on board sound or update your sound drivers but your on a console.

Here’s the splitters, cables, and ground loop eliminator I use:

Splitter - KabelDirekt Pro Series Y Stereo Splitter - 1 x 3.5mm Male to 2 x 3.5mm Female - Y Cable Splitter Produces Equal Audio Output for Headphones, Earphones, and Speakers (0.5ft, Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GN76HAG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_fWcxCbK4KWTBN

    3.5 to 3.5 - KabelDirekt Pro Series 10 feet ... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DI88X32?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

    GL Eliminator - PAC SNI-1/3.5 3.5-mm Ground Loop... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001EAQTRI?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

This setup works for me because I use a sound blaster AE5 and the headphone jack already has an amp in it.

You might try something like this:

    Behringer Microamp HA400 Ultra-Compact 4-Channel Stereo Headphone Amplifier https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000KIPT30/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_t0cxCbPH562B6

So hook up from headphone console output to 4 channel stereo amp input. Then. One out cable to headphone and the other cable to LINE IN on PC and then separate the audio from elgato in OBS

  • good luck, let me know if you have any questions. I’m not a super expert but was able to self resolve most of my audio issues. In my case the skipping was because my PC built in audio sucked and once I switched to a sound blast AE-5 my issues started to disappear. I know that’s not possible on console :/

Do the splitter thing and use these 2 cables. It's the cheapest way assuming these work. Or just buy a new card on black friday and do the splitter thing with normal cables. I know that one works.

I would actually email elgato and see if it would work, I don't want you to spend money unnecessarily. They're really responsive and helpful in their email support.

It was more of noticing that my 3.0 usb only worked when there was a single 3.0 plugged in. If I had more than one, it only powered the device.
Actually today I had another somewhat related issue but with webcams. For streaming, I wanted to have 2 webcams running however only one would show at a time. The webcams are on an external 2.0 usb hub. If I plugged 1 of the webcams into the PC itself, it worked. So I played with the resolution of the cameras and was able to get both running on the external hub. It’s the same idea, not enough “power” from the one hub. I’ll like you the 3.0 usb I used in my PC.
Inateck Superspeed 4 Ports PCI-E to USB 3.0 Expansion Card - Interface USB 3.0 4-Port Express Card Desktop with 15 Pin SATA Power Connector

TL:DR - trial and error / rule out method.

Hope this helps! Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

I appreciate all of your help. But surely this is closer? HP Pavilion 17-ar050wm Laptop 17.3" FHD IPS anti-glare WLED-backlit (1920 x 1080) AMD Quad-Core A10-9620P 8GB RAM 1TB HDD DVD-Writer Windows 10 Home 64 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DL9LQ79/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_uxNhDbSTX5AMY

The big thing is probably just making sure that if you do any splitting, use a powered HDMI splitter. As long as you use a powered splitter, the signal is digital so it's not going to get degraded.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004F9LVXC/

For the long length of cable, you probably just want to make sure your HDMI has plenty of shielding to prevent interference. I've had good luck with these at 15' https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003XM9774/

u/vistastructions · 1 pointr/ElgatoGaming

OK. I'm now leaning towards HD60. I will use the HDMI out port as it is designed. This passthrough introduces the least lag.

I am looking at Amazon's prices. Would you recommend that I cheap out a bit to get a used HD60?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00MIQ40JQ/ref=sr_1_3_olp?ie=UTF8&qid=1518986811&sr=8-3&keywords=hd60

u/xpercipio · 1 pointr/ElgatoGaming

ok, I shouldn't have said record optical because i dont think theres a cheap audio interface that can do that, mine is 900 bucks. So, what you can do, is use this splitter https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-headsets-separate-headphone-microphone/dp/B004SP0WAQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1496900226&sr=8-2&keywords=trrs+splitter

put that into your controller, now all audio is going through to your headphones. But instead of your headphones, plug it into the elgato audio in. Now, what you can do, is listen to ALL audio (game, chat, yourvoice) from your computer. The only thing is, you will need to get your microphone into the controller with a TRS 1/8 in headphone jack. That depends on what kind of headset you have. Its a little different for everyone but thats where you might have success.

Elgato made it as a DVR-like device that with the included software for the Mac could change the channel on your set-top box, and record TV on a schedule. It has Component inputs, and Composite/S-Video via breakout cables. It has hardware accelerated transcoding to H264 onboard and connects to the Mac using USB 2.0. Here’s the Amazon page for the product.

I’m just interested in using it for game capture and don’t care about the other features beyond hardware accelerated Component capture to H264.

If your computer has a pcie slot you try something like this maybe. FebSmart 4 Ports USB 3.0 Super Fast 5Gbps PCI Express(PCIe) Expansion Card for Windows Server, XP,7,Vista,8,8.1,10 PCs-Build in Self-Powered Technology-No Need Additional Power Supply(FS-U4-Pro) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072LS4JH7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_9lVOCb57A7MD4 Dont have any experience with it. So cant say if it will work or not. Just a idea.

I am trying to capture black ops 3 on Xbox one. So I have a blue snowball mic connected to my laptop as well as everything required for the elgato all hooked up. I also have the party chat cable connected to the controller, my headset, and the Elgato. As for my laptop, here is the link https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01LD4MGR6/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1501432236&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=acer+aspire+e15%2C+7th+gen&dpPl=1&dpID=41HfDkXXyeL&ref=plSrch. I am using an Xbox one elite controller and a king top headset. Where would I find those volume settings?

u/LtRoyalShrimp · 2 pointsr/ElgatoGaming

Nope, none of the cables are specific to us. :)

The cable on the left is the USB cable, specifically USB mini type B. We don't sell these on our online shop, however I highly recommend the cable from Amazon Basics.

Does this larger monitor have HDMI input? if it does not its not happening. I googled the monitor and I only saw a single display port. If its not too late return that monitor and get this one it has the inputs you'll want and its 1440p 144hz with G sync. Its a great monitor I personally own it and do what you are trying to do without issue.

Can I use something like this instead? https://www.amazon.com/SF-Cable-Female-Stereo-Splitter/dp/B0016LDZ36 the elgato one you linked is for prime only, and the other sellers have it at higher costs. As well, I read a redditor say that it isn't great quality
