You've probably already bought the PC version, but I wanted to point out that your pricing is totally wrong (assuming you're in the US). Firstly, FFX Remaster for PS4 is $20 at Best Buy and can probably be found similarly priced online. Secondly, FFX Remaster for Vita is $20 at Amazon. The PC version is currently on sale, which makes it a great option obviously, but it's normal price is $29.99.

It's worth noting that the PS4, PS3 and Vita versions of the game all offer cloud saving with your PSN account, so you can save your game in one version of the game then pick up where you left-off in on another system. I've been alternating between the PS4 and PS Vita versions for the past week or so and totally loving it. I can sit in front of my TV and play for a bit, then let my boyfriend take it over for his FFXV session while I continue playing on my Vita. Then at the end of the night, I can just take it to bed with me (oh my). Next day, the cloud saves from the Vita are ready for me to continue where I left off on the PS4. For $40 I think it's an awesome experience, but it totally depends on your gaming style.

Also, it's worth mentioning that I find both versions (PS4 and Vita) equally beautiful with crisp sound quality. Perhaps I have low standards; I don't play a lot of next gen games. I have an OG Vita and the game looks positively stunning on the Vita; I honestly can't tell a huge difference between the versions besides knowing that the portable one will have a little less oomph since it is the PS3 version. This site has some side-by-side comparison shots of the PS3 version vs PS4, which can give you a little idea of what to expect (just keeping in mind the Vita's screen size, of course). I haven't experienced any sort of bugs and I'm pretty sure all of the ports are essentially the same but I'm sure someone who knows better might be able to correct that assumption.

Outlaws of the Marsh, also known as Water Margin, is a classic of Chinese literature. It is a great book with an expansive world contained within. At the beginning of the book, an inept government official releases 108 demons from a sealed room in a monastery. These 108 spirits are reincarnated as the protagonists of the story, sent to earth to crusade against corruption and restore the throne to the rightful emperor. One by one, the 108 heroes (who are actually outlaws, I guess) collect at a bandit stronghold in the mountains before the government sees their deeds and tasks them with driving out foreign invaders. My favorite character is Lu Da, who I suppose you could compare to Barrett in some ways: big, strong, brash, and loyal. He is a military man who becomes a fugitive after killing a butcher. He is sent to a monastery to hide out, but his appetites and vulgarity prevent him from being a convincing monk, so the other monks kick him out. His story is pretty hilarious, involving a lot of drunken ass-whoopings.

Philip K. Dick's The Man in the High Castle. Not fantasy, but it has political intrigue and a really wild plot twist. I don't know that it is really all that similar to FF to be honest, but if you're a nerd like me then maybe you'll find something in it.

H.P. Lovecraft's stories are centered around a few central mythologies and offer a lot to the reader. Barnes and Noble printed his complete fictions in handsome synthetic leather binding. The short stories range from a few pages to a few chapters, so you can kind of pick and choose how much you want to read. You'll want to keep reading though. I've spent entire nights glued to the page, story after story. His dream cycle is more on the fantasy side, but he is known more for his cosmic horror. The Cthulu mythos has inspired a lot of creepy creature art. Related authors include M.R. James and August Derleth, but I have yet to get around to their works.

I have this too, it's an interesting read, doesn't have a lot of information that I don't already know, but I love having it, if that makes sense? (And it looks nice on my bookshelf :D ). It's unofficial, so likely huge fans like myself won't find much new in here, but it's still a nice book. It came out last winter, I had it pre-ordered and it took them like 3 months to get it to me... Guess they had delays in the printing?

Anyway, like OP says, it's basically an encyclopedia on all things FFVIII. It's not any sort of walkthrough, more of a reference book on the characters and themes. Aside from that, It goes into production trivia, the main fan theories, etc.. Oh, but there is no artwork or anything, if that matters, it's strictly a text read.

If anyone is interested, the amazon listing here has a table of contents in the preview window.

Honestly your best bet nowadays is eBay, and even then you most likely won't find her for under 200 CDN. Really sucks since the figure launched at almost half that price.

But eBay is actually a great way to start a collection. I searched for Final Fantasy Play Arts, sorted by newly listed and then bookmarked the page. Every once in a while I'll check and find some great figures for cheap. My recent score was this Tifa figure in pristine condition for 40 USD. There were a few FFXIII LR figures that popped up last month for a decent price so it's worth taking a look.

So hopefully you are able to find her OP. If you have any questions about the Play Arts line I'd be happy to answer from my experience as an avid collector.

Final Fantasy XIV is a far, far less hardcore game than Final Fantasy XI was, in a good way. XI is punishingly old-school, XIV is a modern MMO which has learned from ten years or more of the genre to give a very polished experience.

XIV has some features similar to XI, with housing that you can decorate (although it's very much a endgame thing), and an auction house of sorts. The Job System also has some similarities, unlike most MMOs you are free to switch Jobs and can theoretically max out every one of them, which is nice, although leveling in general is far from the slog it was in XI.

I would say that a keyboard at least is useful for communication purposes, although between the M&K control scheme and the controller I actually think the latter is more comfortable for longer periods. A cheap USB one will do though, or the official PlayStation keyboard is quite nice: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-Wireless-Keyboard-PS3/dp/B005RKDLBI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1418482530&sr=8-2&keywords=official+playstation+keyboard

I think that as far as the Final Fantasy feel goes it's most similar to XII. It makes a lot of allusions to past Final Fantasy games and it's a bit more classically structured as far as the plot goes - the plot heavily features crystals, Cid, and references to past games. The Final Fantasy feel is something they properly nail in XIV, IMO.

For solo grinding, the story is the most efficient way to level your first character. Guildleves (repeatable quests) are pretty useful too but I do those either in PS4 Party Chat or while watching YouTube, because they can be a bit tedious otherwise. The best way for subsequent classes is running dungeons through the Duty Finder, although you might have a bit of a harder time with that if you play a DPS class. Tanks get in instantly because there are so few of us, but a DPS might have a 10-15 minute wait.

If you wanted to opt for something extra to go with the lightning deck, I'd suggest the Ultimania Archive books (English translated Volume 2 releases in December). They have tons of behind the scenes info about the games in each volume (Vol. 1 covers games I-VI, Vol. 2 will cover VII-IX, and when Vol. 3 releases next year... X-XIV) a lot of the artwork done by Yoshitaka Amano, concept sketches, maps of the world. For under $20, it's a really great coffee table book to flip through and take a look at all the work that goes into each game.

Or maybe a Lightning plush to go with the deck. lol

If your friend is a little more into Final Fantasy than just XIII though, definitely either one of the Ultimania Archive books or one of Amano's artbooks like "The Sky" or "Illustrations". Best of luck to you!

You can get the soundtrack on Amazon for pretty cheap, it's well worth it: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000EGD05W

I've played through this game so many times, I've lost count, and I pretty much know the story front to back, what's got you confused? I might could clear some things up. And did you play the original version or the remake War of the Lions? If you played the original, I highly recommend playing the remake (available on PSP, iOS, or Android), as it adds content and cleans up the translation and really brings it up a notch to better tie it together with Final Fantasy XII, which is also in Ivalice if you weren't aware and haven't played it.

Here's the clock and it's for a pretty good price.

The roman numerals were bought separately and painted metallic black in case you want to use these too.

Btw, if you're using the template, set the image size to 90% before printing and it'll be a perfect fit :)

> How would one deal with other expansions? Wouldn't I just have to continue to get the Complete editions (or I'd probably would just have to buy the expansions separately).

You would buy Stormblood separately, which has both expansions'. I think The Complete Edition is the best bang for your buck though, so I recommend it.

Make sure not to buy used. Once the activation key is used, it's attached to that person's account forever.

EDIT: Actually, you can get them separately for the same price as, or cheaper than, the Complete Edition. Here are the options.

Option 1: The Complete Edition The Complete Edition is more convenient because you have everything in one package. However, buying them separately means you can spread out your purchases because the expansion's content isn't accessible until after A Realm Reborn's content anyway, or you can wait until the expansion goes on sale.

Option 2: A Realm Reborn Digital Code + Stormblood Physical Copy This is the cheapest option and, after thinking about it, the one I recommend. While playing A Realm Reborn you wait for the expansion to ship, and it costs less than the complete edition.

Option 3: A Realm Reborn Digital Code + Stormblood Digital Copy This one is all digital, and the same price of the complete edition. You don't have to deal with physical copies of anything, and you can install it all as soon as you buy it instead of waiting for shipping.

Sorry for the blunder there. :-/ Hope I'm being helpful. :P

I won (from an in-store contest) a Retro Trio earlier this year. It smells like new electronics but it plays NES, SNES and Genesis games. I bought a real Genesis controller to plug into it and bought Krusty's Super Fun House (Genesis version) to play on it. I bought RC Pro Am too and it works fine with a Genesis controller.

My drunk ass is wondering though, why do cheap electronics smell for weeks but a Sony, Nintendo or Microsoft console never smells?

Along with all the other things these guys are suggesting, you'd probably do well to find out which Final Fantasy is her favorite. That'd help narrow down your options and help you come up with something she'd like the most.

Also, wall scrolls can be cool

u/ManaMoogle · 2 pointsr/FinalFantasy

The top row were $15 USD each, and the bottom row $8 each. No shipping 'cause I found them in the dealer room at Otakon! I was surprised to see that they weren't even marked up. Amazon has some cute little things too, apparently.

Nooooo good luck finding it! Tear that room apart!

u/MyPhantomile · 2 pointsr/FinalFantasy

There is! It has been translated by Alexander O. Smith.

I bought the eBook for my Kindle here in the UK. I imagine it would be a little more difficult to find a physical copy unless you were to order from the internet.

Personally, I find the best part of the book to focus on Yorda and the Queen, giving them a rich backstory that really puts the game's plot into perspective. Miyabe acknowledges at the start that this is her own interpretation and that there is a fair degree of artistic license involved, but it shouldn't stop you from enjoying a fuller story.

I already played Final Fantasy 13 (Demo) and it was really good, so I'm looking forward to the series. I also can't wait to watch the Movies they look amazing. I think the only reason why I'm starting to get into Final Fantasy now is because I really got into anime a few years back (and I use to hate FF back when I was about 10 years old) but I'm 18 now and I love the series (or at least I'm starting to)

Awesome! Here's the link for those; Who don't feel like going through the twitter post.

I bought this book at an anime convention earlier this year. I'm really tempted to use the book sleeve as a poster on my wall it's all so beautiful.
