Thank you. I ended up selling it and just going with a 6p because I found a great deal. :) Gotachya. What kind of thermal pad did you use? (I work with computers a decent amount) and there are some pretty dang crappy ones out there. And it's possible you got a poor quality one. Some are really good but they cost more, and there is a pretty dang decent on on amazon which is pretty fairly priced. If you got it off of eBay or a pretty cheap one on amazon, odds are that it wouldn't do much.

  • ARCTIC thermal pads: (Decent fair priced thermal pad): https://www.amazon.com/ARCTIC-Thermal-Pad-0-5-Conductivity/dp/B00UYTT3I2/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1493566555&sr=1-4&keywords=Thermal+pad+.5mm
    • Thermal Conductivity 6.0 W/mK

  • Fujipoly Extreme Thermal Pad : (high quality more, more expensive per square millimeter) : https://www.amazon.com/Fujipoly-mod-smart-Extreme-Thermal/dp/B00ZSJRH22/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1493566977&sr=8-1&keywords=Fujipoly+thermal+pad+.5mm
    • Thermal Conductivity 11.0 W/mK

  • Fujipoly Ultra Extreme Thermal Pad: (most expensive thermal pad per square millimeter, but also highest quality): https://www.amazon.com/Fujipoly-Extreme-System-Builder-Thermal/dp/B00MQ65K0G/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1493567159&sr=8-9&keywords=Fujipoly+thermal+pad+ultra
    • Thermal Conductivity 17.0 W/mK

  • The higher the thermal conductivity (which is measured the the "W/mK") the better, more effectively and efficiently it can transfer heat)

Also when I was researching, it said to use 0.5mm thick thermal pads, becausethe space where the thermal pad would go is about 1mm. So if it's too thick it could cause pressure on the screen. Additionally, I was reading somewhere, that the best way to do this was to put 1 Square (the size of the only area needed) covering the metal part on the back. Then take thin strips between 1/16-1/8" thick and put them across the top of said square. (Of course wearing gloves and cleaning the area on the metal part connected to the logic board and the contact point of the other part with rubbing alcohol, for highest thermal efficientcy. Otherwise dirt/dust/oils from fingers/etc can create issues between the thermal pad and the "heatsink", or back of the phone). When you lay the strips on the square (which is already put on the metal), be sure to space them a little ways apart. There should be it is approximately 1/16-1/8" space between each strip (which is also 1/16-1/8"). The reason for the staggering between the strips is because when the phone is pressed back together, the spaces between the strips can almost be made whole(essentially becoming 1 thinner square on top of the already present square) by the pressure. thus providing the most efficient and least pressing(on screen), method of doing the thermal pad mod.

I can not confirm this method since I myself have not done it, but from hours upon hours of research this is what I found :)

Best of luck to all of you in the future!!

  • P.S. I write all of this not only for you, but for all that come after you who see this, so they can use it to provide some decent thermal pads to help in their cooling of their lg g3 phones

15ft is pretty long, I don't see any with really good reviews. There is a cable matters one on Amazon that has decent reviews, but that's pretty much it.

Anything over 10ft is really too long for a passive USB cable, you will probably need an active one and I don't think anyone makes active micro-usb cables.

Your best option is probably something like this combined with a 10ft cable.

Edit: Also definitely don't go with a cheap Chinese cable from Ebay. Something like this is pushing the limits of USB and needs to be made of high quality components.

The OEM LG slim guard case is one of the best cases out there. Model# CCH-320G (this is the version for most phones here in the USA, the korean version F400 has a cutout for the TV antenna). It can be very difficult to find and like most Qi cases runs at around $40ish or so. That being said, i fits very snuggly, replaces the back cover to minimize thickness, is an OEM product, etc. Here are some photos from a user over at XDA:

As for screen protector the pThink 2.5D LG G3 screen protector is highly rated over at XDA. It has much more intricate cutouts that better match the cameras and sensors at the top of the screen.

EDIT: I received my pThink screen protector today after all of the reviews at XDA. I can't say enough about how impressed I am with this screen protector. Application was a breeze. If you have ever applied the old film style screen protectors, you know how much of a pain it is to do a bubble free application. As with anything, good prep ensures success. If you prep the surface well, you will find that it is super easy to get a bubble free application. I ensured that the face of the phone was perfectly clean of any oil or dust. Cleaned the tips of my fingers obsessively as well. I then carefully and VERY gently laid the glass on the screen. At this stage DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT press down on it in any way! If you don't press down, you can maneuver the glass into the proper place. I did this and then pressed down on it. It was cool to watch as the "bubble" of bonding spread out underneath the glass driving out all of the air. The feel of this is amazing, it feels like a normal touch screen and the clarity is crystal clear. Plus I can't detect ANY effect on the touch sensitivity.

As for why the pThink? The cut and fit is QUITE good; instead of a more generic and cheap notch at the top for the speaker, light and proximity sensor this one has a harder but more precise oval. The application and instructions were good and the end result is nothing short of perfect.

I've noticed that the sound quality out of the headphone jack is surprisingly accurate, but not loud at all. It seems to be pretty clean @ 3/4 volume or less. Anything more than that, and it begins clipping and distorting, sounding like garbage. Anything you do with PowerAmp, either with "preamp"ing or equalizing to make the bass louder will just contribute to distortion. The best case scenario is to listen at a lower volume and turn up the bass a couple dB, making the bass relatively louder than anything else, but the music will just be not be anywhere impressively loud. Realistically, you're not going to get what you want from the phone.
Have you ever considered using an external headphone amp? Since the LG G3 has quite a clear output at lower volumes, it's a perfect source for an analog amp. The FiiO E11K would power anything you threw at it.
If that's not practical for you, maybe consider getting some Bluetooth earbuds. These Plantronics buds are lightweight, hold a charge for a decent amount of time, and sound amazing with decent bass.

Did it come yet? I am planning on buying this, but there are 6 hours left in the deal, so I want to get naow.
I just don't want to get one with sucky lenses and flimsy cardboard.
Is it worth it?

EDIT: I do have an amazon gift card... Would it be best to go for this instead
http://www.amazon.com/Cardboard-Valencia-Quality-Virtual-Reality/dp/B00LQ6ICJ8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1407463301&sr=8-2&keywords=google+cardboard
or to spring for this, i have the cash in gift card balance.
http://www.amazon.com/AM-CARDBOARD%C2%AE-Cardboard-Instructions-Numbered/dp/B00LZGBU3Y/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1407463301&sr=8-3&keywords=google+cardboard
i mean, it ends up like 5 bucks more for a better quality item, but does it really matter with these things?

  • No case, i use it bare. I might get a spigen ultra fit like i had on my N5. Haven't decided.

  • Harmon/Kardon BT. The only wireless headphones worth a damn, IMO. APT-X, direct AAC streaming, amazing battery life(which hasn't decreased at all), well built, look nice. They sound about as good as sony MDR-V6s or my old sennheiser 280s, too. And unlike a lot of wireless headphones, you can plug them in and get direct bypass. Only con is they take a stupid 3.5mm>2.5mm cable for both charging and bypass audio... and they're both the thinnest, shittiest cables. And it's TRRS so i can't just buy a cheap/thick 3.5>2.5 cable from some random place.

  • new trent 10k mAh powerpack. I guess that one, and the slightly earlier one i have are both discontinued now? i'd buy whichever one is on sale on slickdeals right now though from them. It's held up great for about a year at this point. No capacity decreasing issues(they obviously use decent cells), good conversion rate so it'll really charge a lot of stuff, etc. Has reliably charged everything i bring with me on several long trips, and friends stuff, the whole time.

  • UltimateEars super.fi 5. Yea, these are old, but they're awesome. You can get a swapable cord that gives them full controls for android too, from a newer model! UE makes by far the best cheap IEMs. They're 70% as good as what anyone else sells at 3x the price. I've had these things for years and they just never stop kicking ass. New pack of comply tips occasionally, new cord occasionally. I'll probably keep using them for another decade. I'd heartily recommend a newer midrange model of UEs if you don't have good earbuds/IEMs.

I love Ballistic cases. They're just grippy enough that they're nice to hold, but not too grippy that you can't slip the phone in a tight pocket, like Otterboxes, and they're also pretty slim for the amount of protection they provide. Also I really like the protruding rubber buttons. I had a Ballistic on my old One X that saved it quite a few times, and now I have one on the G3 that continues to save it on a daily basis. (I drop my phone a LOT.)

Couple things - first the D850 doesn't have wireless charging built-in so you need a solution for that.

Next - yes these mats will work, but you can get them much cheaper. Powermat is a standard, so there isn't a charging mat per-device, but that's how they sell them (bundled with cases). You can use this to your advantage like so:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00462QB4W/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new

I bought two of these in a sale for like $3.50 each. They worked okay - one had a VERY sensitive placement placement position and they make little noises when it connects/disconnects, so I would occasionally get woken up by it decided to disconnect/reconnect.

I also ordered the Spigen Slim Armor GunMetal Case and freaking love it. After looking around I would recommend it to everyone.

As for a screen I ordered iCarez 0.2mm Tempered Glass. Installation was easy (did it in a humid hot bathroom to reduce dust) and love it. not even noticable.

For an alternative there is also the Itian A6 (http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?SearchText=itian+a6). I ordered some a few weeks ago and will post about it once I receive it. I've heard good things and I like that it has three coil design.

I also purchsed the LG WCP-300 (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00C6VP03I/). I've used it a little bit so far, it works well. Positioning the phone isn't as hard as I thought it would be. Has a nice finish that keeps the phone from sliding off.

u/Master_Dogs · 1 pointr/LGG3

I have a 64GB Sandisk Ultra that works great. I used it in my old phone (Droid Razr Maxx) and then my G3 when I got it on release last July. So it's been working great for the last year or so.

Should be able to get it for around $30-$40.

I really can't wait until the 128GBs come down to this price point in a year or two though - 64GB is enough for most things but load it up with a few movies, some music and a few nandroids and you've pretty much filed it up.

u/CorporateShell · 3 pointsr/LGG3

I'm still going to be doubtful about how much protection they offer but it looks and feels like there isn't anything there at all. I bought this one and am just loving it!

u/rube · 2 pointsr/LGG3

https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Ultra-128GB-Drive-SDDD2-128G-G46/dp/B019FN63OO/ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1467122035&sr=1-4&keywords=sandisk+micro+usb+flash+drive

I have a version of that and I love it. Micro USB on one end (which has worked in every Android device I've tried. And the normal USB on the other to transfer to PC. Nice and portable as well.

u/usernamesaretrite · 3 pointsr/LGG3

Can you confirm this works? If so, then I'll definitely be picking one up. Looks like you can get them for $15 on [amazon] (http://www.amazon.com/Duracell-Powermat-24-Hour-System-iPhone/dp/B0082YVBO0).

u/chartyourway · 1 pointr/LGG3

I bought this, which is only up to 64, granted, but it was a smoking deal and chip is good. this is the American site and has 128, keep an eye out for deals?

u/ffifficult · 1 pointr/LGG3

I use a running belt and it works great (had never used on before getting my G3). Really comfortable (I forget its there) and just big enough to fit the G3. Nathan Gel Waist Pack

For some decent headphones that don't fall out I use these: Amazon Premium Headphones

They don't have the best audio quality but they have magnets in the earbuds and a flat cable, so they don't tangle easily. They are cheap so I can throw them around and not worry about it.

A guy from XDA is selling PMA stickers that go into the stock backplate for $30: http://images.dcemu.co.uk:8080/lgg3pma/

And you can get a Powermat charger as part of a bundle (just throw out the phone adapter) for $7. I'm using this very same charger with my G3 and it works fine: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00462QB4W/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new (buy the one from Widgetree, it's the one I got for $7 and free shipping)

So, definitely not as cheap or as much variety as Qi, but you can set yourself up with PMA for under $40.

u/Ares6 · 1 pointr/LGG3

Not 100% sure, but I don't think Qi works with PMA like that. Since they are competing techs.

However, here's a $20 Duracell powermat that also includes a battery charger

Another useful tool for data transfer is the double sided sandisk USB drives. They have USB and microsd connectors, which are totally handy for this kind of thing.

I got this along with the zag glass screen protector and it's extremely safe now Ballistic Tough Jacket Case for LG G3 - Retail Packaging - Black by Ballistic http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KLPLWOC/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_pnKOub09NCGVN

u/swordstool · 1 pointr/LGG3

Just to clarify, it works fine when charging with non-wireless chargers, AND when on the official LG Qi charger.

u/Little_Endian · 1 pointr/LGG3

iCarez Tempered Glass Pro 9H 0.2mm, not sure if I needed to splurge on the 0.2 instead of the 0.3, but it was cheap enough that I did anyway. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L619698/ref=twister_B00KO6FLAO

u/MoustacheSteve · 2 pointsr/LGG3

Here's the glass I use.

No complaints; it was real easy to install and I can't really tell it's even on there.
