Amazon has more than just this one, but I got curious and searched so I figured I'd share it just in case you or anyone else still reading this thread were interested!

my suggestion fro walks at night would be what I like to call a flash-stick if you have the money these are great because a high power flashlight is great for blinding at a distance and the fair 10in length gives you something to hit them with. It's also a flashlight so you can see shit with it and it's not illegal to carry. I'm a guy but I still like to carry one of these when walking not as long but it gives me about a pound of metal in my hand and a light so bright it can illuminate a mountainside 1km away or blind someone during the day for minutes at a time.

You may want to consider one of these! http://www.amazon.com/CAUTION-Non-Pull-Approach-PREVENTS-Accidents/dp/B00BY9FOG6/
pay attention to the measurements for the pets, they come in different sizes.

What a sweet looking baby. Glad he kept you safe from this creep.

If it’s a sliding glass door at the back they make inserts for the mesh part that acts as a doggie door. Here’s one. As well as a cheaper one you can cut into the mesh directly, here. Hope these help :)

went to college in Notts.

there is a very dark underbelly to that city...or at least there was 20 odd years ago.

'This all began quite unexpectedly one rainy autumn evening a couple of years ago in a fairground near to the centre of Nottingham...'

In amongst the bright lights and bumper cars, Nick Davies noticed two boys, no more than twelve years old, oddly detached from the fun of the scene. Davies discovered they were part of a network of children selling themselves on the streets of the city, running a nightly gauntlet of dangers: pimps, punters, the Vice Squad, disease, drugs. This propelled Davies into a journey of discovery through the slums and ghettoes of our cities. He found himself in crack houses and brothels, he befriended street gangs and drug dealers.

a lot of this book is set in Notts...the bit at the goose fair is doubly creepy for me as I was living directly opposite when he describes what was going on in those public toilets. I used to walk across that park rather than round the edge as it cut about 30 minutes off my journey; but I kinda know how to blend in...a lot of other students I knew got mugged in there. and though we knew there were hookers working from there...and the local area (including right outside a few mates houses) we never realised that underage stuff was going on...makes me shudder to even think of it.

the hookers used to actually be useful when we wanted some weed or whatever. other than a friend from home deciding to bring one home back to my rented place one night (much to my gf's 'amusement') we never had any issues from them...

knowing what I know now tho...shiiit...smh.

Did u tell landlord and demand locks to be changed? Add some manual locks. Like 5 in a row. Or buy this door barricade.

Or, consider putting a security camera outside your door.. This one is good too. And pretty inexpensive!

You can even get window alarm which may deter the thief. Or you can install something like this.

Safety first. Buy yourself a taser and bear mace. Keep a small pot full of sand, you can grab a handful and throw it in their eyes. Keep a baseball bat handy.

I have a flashlight that is extremely bright and will strobe to blind an intruder. It’s called Outlight tactical flashlight.

I’m trying to think of what else you can do.... plant something thorny under your windows if possible....

If you have a way of adding a screen door outside, get one or replace your current one with something storm and burglar resistant.

This is pretty much what I bought/installed for a neighbor and a friend. Can find at any army/navy surplus store or gun shop.

Stay safe!

If it's legal where you are, kubatons work well and so do tactical pens.

I personally carry both a kubaton and a Matriarch emerson open (opens up automatically when you take it out of your pocket).
I only cary the knife because I'm comfortable with them. I haven't had to use it yet, thankfully.

Here is a book with excellent advice on how to make yourself disappear. I highly recommend that you purchase a copy of this, it gives all kinds of tips and suggestions on how to make yourself invisible.

Thank you so much for sharing your story with us, too!

Write management about security and confidentiality. There are also inexpensive gadgets that will add to your security while you are inside of your room. Here is an example: amazon link

Edit: Better link I think. I'm not advocating for any particular product. I remember seeing something similar on Shark Tank. It was a little plastic piece...

You need to get a door security bar. Even if they manage to get the door unlocked that's not going to let them get the door open without a hell of a lot of noise and effort. Most importantly though it buys you a lot more time. I live in a really nice part of town, but I always have that on my door after 5PM. You could also get 2 so if they make it in you can use it on an interior door to buy more time until police arrive. You should be able to find them at Walmart for cheap as well.

Since he was taken in for possible child porn charges, I think you are pretty well off assuming you are out of his interest range.

By what you described, I think he does not remember you and has no actual interest in you, but situational awareness is something that I think should be an effing basic school requirement.

I got that book just to further my education as a security agent, but after reading it, people make more sense.

A good flashlight and a very thin/small knife that can always be in your pocket (even women's jeans) are good friends to have.

Hey OP, my advice is grab your self a couple of these: http://www.amazon.com/Wansview-Wireless-Surveillance-Microphone-monitoring/dp/B003JLPWAK All you'll need is a way to power them and a computer to record with.

They're home security on a budget. Just be aware that you can't point them directly at your neighbours property. You can however cover any part of land that's on your property or immediately in front of it safely. Put up a sign that states CCTV is in use on your property, perhaps even a sign that trespassers will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law (Which you are entitled to do). As for your dogs, keep an eye on them. Make sure that they don't eat strange food, especially anything around your property. Any areas your dogs go outside the property try to keep covered by cameras.

Once you have the cameras make it obvious you own a firearm. Don't do it threateningly, do so in a way to show that you will protect your self if you need to, the cameras act as an insurance policy against any false accusations they may make.

Show them that you mean business and that if they threaten or harass you in any way, including trespassing on your property you will absolutely protect your self, make it categorically clear that any threatening behaviour toward you will be reported to the police along with supporting evidence. Essentially make it crystal clear that you can make their life far worse than they can make yours, even if it's a bluff.

If you're able to you can install a floor brace for the door.
