I wrote this up on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/AOC-AG241QX-2560x1440-Adjustable-DisplayPort/dp/B01NCTHS6E/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=aoc+agon+24&qid=1563386331&s=gateway&sr=8-1

Version:

I got the 24" G-SYNC Capable version.

Current usage as of this writing:

50+ hours.

Summary:

Overall, this monitor is solid. Especially at the sale price I got for $230... I freaking love this thing. I'd even recommend buying it for $300 if you see it around that price. Anything above $350, I'd maybe look at other options, but it will cost you *at least* $400 for these same specs, but you may have better quality control (light bleed). Yet, it still hard to really deny this great monitor for the price under $350. This takes me to my pros and cons.

PROS:

- I didn't think 1440p would be that great on a 24" as it seemed it wasn't as necessary as for a 27". But I was very wrong there. The pixel density is actually SUPER nice to have.

- For color and viewing angle, as most TN panels, especially at this refresh rate of 144hz and response rate of 1ms, the color is okay. Obviously a professional graphic designer isn't going to pick a monitor like this because it's not relevant to their needs -- like at all. But for gaming it's great. Especially with some calibration (just Google "AG241QX calibration") and it was a lot better. It's pretty vibrant and the shadows/black parts are dark.

- I actually really like the headphone mount they have too.

- I don't use the switch it comes with, but it could be handy based on your setup or wanting to change calibration on the fly without using the monitor buttons. It is a cool add-on that I could see some people wanting to use.

- They have 2 (I think) USB 3.0 ports as well. This I could see being useful if you want to plug in something quick. All the ports are really accessible. I have my main Windows PC, 2012 Mac Mini, and 2018 Macbook Pro all plugged into this thing running 1440p.

- Fully adjustable. That's it. Great movement. I'd say that it would be nice if it move left to right a little more, but that's just me being really picky. It has pretty good movement and I'd probably never want anything more than what it is but just want to point that out.

- It has speakers? I guess? I don't know. Why do you want this in any monitor? Yet, they're there. Go for it, I guess.

CONS:

- The only downside like others are saying is the light bleed (and it's not even that bad). I'd say there is a gamble, you may or may not have it but I do and it's *really* not that bad. There is a one streak where the LED is shining through in the top right corner, but if the monitor is showing any bit of output from the monitor that isn't just initial black screen, it's unnoticeable. I would disregard other reviews saying "it's unusable" but like I said earlier it could be a gamble. In any case, Amazon is really good with returns and I'm sure you could get it replaced pretty easily.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading and hope this helps.

I also want to state I am not getting paid for this review.

Here is a quick list I made in another post.

Most of the monitors here are free sync and I would say have good implementations however I will include a Gsync category.

I would not recommend 4k for the 2080. It would be able to run games around 60 fps at 4k however refresh rate will make things more enjoyable. Also, 4k high refresh rate monitors are currently very expensive.

Good value companies to look at:

Viotek

Pixio (Did not list since availability issues but worth looking at)

Nixeus

More established companies to look at:

Acer

Asus

Samsung

LG

Gigabyte (They have one monitor on the market)

TL;DR of VA vs IPS

IPS has slightly better viewing angles than VA.

IPS has slightly better colors VA.

IPS has better response time than VA.

However, VA does not have defects like IPS glow and much better contrast, so much better blacks and such.

TL;DR of TN vs IPS

IPS has much better viewing angles than TN. TN will color shift if looked at straight on.

IPS has much better colors than TN.

TN has the best response rate.

TN is basically worse in every way than VA and IPS except for response time.

tl;dr trying to figure out what's important for me. Looking for 1) ~27", 2) curved (just a preference), 3) high refresh rate (not sure how important this is), 4) IPS (not sure how important this is), 5) 1440p (or 1080p?), 6) VESA mountable, 7) low blue light, 8) flicker-free, 9) tiny bezel for a multi-monitor setup for long hours of non-media and non-gaming related usage.

Looking to get a new monitor setup and have put in some 15-20 hours of research, and I feel more lost than when I started.

For programming/reading/daytrading (and not gaming/doing media related stuff), what should I be looking for and what criteria should I be evaluating? I'm trying to maximize screen area across a multi-monitor setup (4-8 monitors total for 2 rows) and ease on the eyes for long hours of work (so: flicker free and low blue light), I don't really care about color range/trueness.

Size: looking for 27" as that's the largest that can realistically be mounted on a desk stand in a multi-monitor setup.

Panel type: TN/IPS/VA - what's best? I'm seeing a lot of conflicting opinions but it seems that TN is cheapest, VA best for gaming (?) / media, IPS best otherwise?

Curve: I think I prefer curved - opinions?

Resolution: 4k seems like a waste, leaving 1080/1440. It seems that the limiting factor for taking in data from my monitor setup would be my vision as opposed to the number of pixels per screen given that I'll have at minimum 4x27" monitors. If that's true, how much advantage is there really to 1440 versus 1080?

Refresh rate: is high refresh rate actually worthwhile/easier on the eyes [for not gaming]?

Response delay: Not really a consideration for usage unrelated to gaming.

Flicker-free/low blue light: Sounds nice, potentially the most important factor, but horribly subjective -- how do you actually quantify this? It's listed on some monitors and not on others, but never quantified. Is this a real/worthwhile thing, and am I to just believe that it works fine on any monitor that mentions these features?

Mounting: looking to get a 2x2/2x3/2x4 monitor setup, so VESA mount is critical. Further, it seems that I'm realistically limited to 27" monitor size due to monitor stand limitations (I don't want to mess with wall-mounted arms). If there were some good >30" monitors I might be able to make a 2x2 setup work (Samsung's 49" looks sooo fantastic but seems tragically awkward/difficult to make work in a multi-monitor setup due to weight/size).

Brand names: Recommendations? I keep reading through horror stories about dead pixels from foreign/less heard of brands that only produce monitors. Anything to watch out for?

Some monitors I've been looking at:

(1)

pros: 27", curved, 1440p, 144Hz, VESA mount,

concerns: VA and not IPS (is this even bad?), doesn't mention "flicker free" (but it's 144Hz? are refresh rate/flicker-free even related? idk), complaints about dead pixels

https://www.amazon.com/VIOTEK-GN27D-Curved-Computer-Monitor/dp/B078P57ZWL/

(2)

pros: 27", 1440p, 144Hz, IPS (!!!), mentions flicker free, good brand

concerns: not curved, pricey, doesn't mention low blue light

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CH9ZTI4/

(3)

great (best?) brand (Asus), 31.5" is a good size but might be awkward/hard to mount, options are straight+1440p+75Hz and curved+1080p+144Hz rather than the ideal curved/1440p/144Hz, really great sounding blue light/flicker free tech (subjective though)

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=0JC-001P-00A25

(4)

Asus, 27", IPS, 1440p, not curved, pricey (165Hz is overkill)

https://www.amazon.com/PG279Q-2560x1440-G-SYNC-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B017EVR2VM/

(5)

Asus, 27", IPS, 1440p, requires out of stock adapter to VESA mount, low refresh rate

https://www.amazon.com/Designo-MX27AQ-2560x1440-Frameless-Monitor/dp/B00VRKVGSC

curved+IPS+high refresh rate+1440p seems like a hard combination to come across, though I'm not sure that those are important features.

I think that the best compromise that I can recommend is going to stretch your budget a little bit, but please let me know if this will work for you.

BenQ GW2765HT - Typically $300-$350

  • [Product Info Page] (http://www.benq.us/product/monitor/gw2765ht/)
  • [Newegg Listing] (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824014383)
  • [Amazon Listing] (https://smile.amazon.com/BenQ-GW2765HT-27-Inch-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B00KYCSRSG/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8)
  • [TFTCentral Review] (http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/benq_gw2765ht.htm)
  • [The Wire Cutter] (http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-27-inch-monitor/)

This is a 27", 1440p, 60hz, IPS-like (AHVA) display. It has solid color pre-sets out of the box, among the better options for a budget, non-calibrated display. It will look significantly better than the TN options in this price range. It also has a fully adjustable ergonomic stand and VESA mounting support.

It has adequate response times for a 60hz display, as ghosting and overshoot are minimal. Input lag is typical for a non-gaming display, that is slightly better than my Dell U2717D at just under 19ms. This may sound bad, but it's typical, and unless you're a highly competitive gamer, it won't matter. It's better than 99% of televisions.

It's a great budget display that is well rounded. It doesn't excel in any one area, but it's not delinquent in any one area. It has a solid overall picture quality (and if you're used to <$200 and/or TN displays, the picture may just blow you away).

For a similar amount, the best you can really do are the 24" (and maybe 27") 1080p 144hz TN and VA sets, which simply do not hold a candle to this display in picture quality, but will beat it in terms of gaming responsiveness. Since you're trying to balance between gaming and semi-professional use, I'd go with the BenQ.

If you find a way to stretch your budget further, the Dell U2717D is a superior choice. It comes factory calibrated, and uses a Samsung PLS panel that is lower glow, with better overall build quality, and an integrated 4-port USB 3.0 hub. But that will add another ~$100 to the price tag.

Let me know if this is useful, or if you're dead set on a ~$200 price point, and I'll try to tailor my recommendations to that. Just keep in mind that 1440p is virtually out of the question in that segment.

EDIT: Also using a GTX 1060 6GB with my Dell, and gaming is enjoyable.

I used pcpartpicker.com to filter the specs I needed, and unfortunately most of the 144hz monitors I found were unfortunately out of stock (or would take long to deliver). Here's what I found:

This Asus is 75hz but cheaper than most.

This Acer sounds perfect but is unfortunately out of stock.

And as stated previously, this AOC would also be great, but is out of stock temporarily as well.

I guess the Asus one sounds better than just a 60hz, but i'll have to look up some reviews. What do you think, if I may ask?

EDIT: I keep seeing people saying that 144hz doesn't work with HDMI, and using HDMI seems like you'll get a max of 75~hz? I'd also like to add that I definitely understand the future proofing, but as of right now the only games I go over even 70-80 fps in are games like csgo (which I don't play so often anymore), and star wars BF/battlefield. On top of that, I'm ignorant to the glory that is anything above 60hz, so it wouldn't be a huge detriment to me. I'll definitely be on the look out for these monitors, but I just can't seem to find any at a good price for my budget, or that are in stock. Thank you though!

u/Wtf_socialism_really · 1 pointr/Monitors

You will drop some frames going to a 1440p monitor, but 60-144 hz is a huge difference and pretty much the biggest difference of all right now. It will also help somewhat with aliasing due to the greater number of pixels on screen at once.

If you have any intention of upgrading your GPU at some point, 1440p is an even more attractive option because those GPUs will drive 1440p even better.

Quick edit: I also say I'm very surprised at the cost of that TN panel from ASUS. Their premium on ROG is insane. For that price you can literally get an IPS Acer Predator or save a good chunk of money on the equivalent TN panel

u/TheBreakRoom · 2 pointsr/Monitors

I have this Asus monitor. I was originally running two of those and decided to upgrade one to a 1440p and went bigger as well. I thought it would look silly at first but I actually really like my setup.

I basically ended up using them just like you described. My desktop is on the 1440p, it is also where I obviously play games as well. The majority of my web browsing is done on the 1080p, simply because the 27" 1440p tends to be a little "too much" when just trying to casually browse. I also do the majority of the videos on the 1080p.

One is a VA display and the other is a TN. So I basically almost have the most obscure difference of monitors but I love it. Honestly at my casual sitting/viewing angles, the colors are not drastically different and the contrasts are similar enough. It's not like they are sharing any of the images I'm looking at to where it will matter anyway.

u/thejerkstoreNA · 1 pointr/Monitors

Quick review- the two panels I received are great. The quality of the stand is fantastic. The aesthetics are great for me, preferring a clean "office" look over anything that looks "gaming". They're TN panels and as I'm sure aren't perfect with color however I'm using them for gaming and I personally don't notice any problems. My panels were both the A07 revision produced in September 2017 (says so on the boxes) delivered to my house by Best Buy. My buddy who ordered one for in-store pick-up got an A04 revision and has major issues with artifacts in darker color gradients which I've read many other users have had the same issue with that revision.

Using this image on my monitors there is some minor banding across the dark gradients (more noticeable if you crank up brightness), however I have the same issue on every other monitor I own including my Note 5 OLED phone so maybe it's just the image? In-game I haven't noticed this creating any problems.

Verdict: I'm keeping both. They're a huge upgrade for me and I'm quite happy with them at $350 each. If I wanted to spend $600+ I'd likely go for an IPS panel such as this one but I'm a happy camper today.

Good luck with your monitor shopping!

u/offshell · 2 pointsr/Monitors

I'm using a Benq XL2420G with my PC for gaming and a 5k iMac for most other things at home. I considered the Asus PG278Q, but some of the quality complaints scared me off and I've been pretty happy running a single 980. There is also the Acer XB270HU IPS 1440p 144hz g-sync monitor coming out soon that looks to be a pretty nice setup and might even push me to upgrade once I see a few more reviews.

My requirements at the moment are something greater than 1080p for work and a g-sync (or freesync later) monitor at 144hz for gaming. If I only played games where I could easily get 144fps I might be able to forego g-sync for lightboost, but I've been happy with g-sync in bf4 and wouldn't want to play without it now.

EDIT: sorry, should have said why I’m recommending it. I have this monitor. It’s a TN panel, but you aren’t gonna find IPS monitors lower than 4ms. But with the right calibration, the colors look fantastic. Very simply setup both physically and calibration wise. Adjustable height and angle is clutch to get that perfect viewing angle. Since it’s a TN panel, it does suffer from poor viewing angles. Unless your straight on, you’ll see colors get washed out towards the edges if your off-Center. But that’s an issue with every TN panel. But colors are great, 1ms response time is great, G-Sync is awesome, and it’s just an all around beast of a 1080p 144hz monitor.

u/shannonlowder · 1 pointr/Monitors

I'm in a similar situation. I work 10-12 hours a day on code and data. As a result, I want a 32" 4k monitor without a strong anti-glare coating. That way I can run my monitor at 100% scale and get sharp text. I currently have a Samsung U28E590D that I took the anti-glare off, and the text is very sharp compared to most monitors. Unfortunately, it's a touch too small to run in 100% zoom, so I have it set to 125%. Also, I didn't get a perfect result, there are some dim spots on the monitor that appear to be behind the plastic, but in front of the LCDs themselves.

I have a Dell XPS 9575 with a 4k glossy screen and it has the sharpest text I've seen. Unfortunately, I have to run it at 150% when I work directly on it. I have to drop the resolution to 1080p when I mount it on a monitor arm beside my primary monitor.

My dream is to find a large 4k without that crappy anti-glare coating.

In the past few months, I've tested an LG 32UD59-B . It's coating makes the text look like you're viewing it through bug screen. I've also tried the LG 34WK95U-W, it has the same anti-glare coating. I went to the apple store and looked at an LG UltraFine 5k, While the monitor isn't glossy, it's not as bad a coating as the other two LGs I tried. Unfortunately, it's 27" and as a result, I had to set the zoom to 125% to make the text comfortable from a sitting distance (24").

I also tested an Alienware AW3418DW, It had a strong coating on it that made the text blurry. Also, It wasn't a 4k monitor. I've reached out to Dell, and they claim all their monitors have an anti-glare coating now, so I'm reluctant to order them and then have to return it. I've also visited Local

I'm almost to the point where I'd be willing to pay someone to take one of the best rated 32" 4k monitors and strip the coating off. My hope is someone can get a better result than I did. The other option is to find out who manufactures the panels for one of these high-end 4k monitors, and order one direct from the manufacturer without adding the coating to it.

Witcher 3 minimum specs: Core i5 2500K, 6GB of RAM and a GTX 660
Overwatch minimum specs: Core i3, 4GB of Ram and a GTX 460
World of Warships minimum specs: Core i3, 2.5GB of Ram and a NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT

So from the looks of it, I'm taking it your system is playing these games but not super well. That makes it a bit easier to decide on a monitor.

> I am really confused with all these 4k vs 1440p vs 1080p... Will I even be able to play on 1440p/4k?

The higher the resolution, the better your picture quality. Getting 1440p requires more graphics card power than a 1080p so your computer may complain. However, if you are getting a 27" monitor it should be 1440p. Everywhere that I read it strongly advised that you get 1440p if you get a 27" monitor. If your computer can't deal with it you can manually lower your resolution to 1080p although the picture quality will suffer a bit. I own two monitors (PB278Q 27.0 and ViewSonic XG2703-GS 27.0) (looking to get rid of the 1st one) and I love them both. I just manually changed the resolution to 1080p on the second monitor and everything looked bad/blurry. I don't know if that's what will happen to a 27" with 1080p by default so maybe someone else can chime in on that.

tldr: I recomend 1440p 27" but your GPU may complain.

> I am really confused with ... 144hz or 60hz... Should I look at 60hz monitors

Hz means refresh rate. So, a 144hz monitor will refresh the image on the screen 144 times a second. A 60hz monitor can do it 60 times a second, etc. Unless you plan on upgrading your CPU and GPU in the future, I would recommend ignoring 144hz monitors. This is because your computer will likely not be able to dish out images fast enough to warrant it. Additionally, mainly FPS shooters are where the extra hz will come in handy.

tldr: Go for 60hz and you'll be fine.

> I am really confused with IPS or TN etc.

For your budget, I think IPS should be very doable. IPS will give you better color production and make things in general look better. Have you ever looked at someones laptop from the at an angle and couldn't see what was on the screen? That's pretty much TN in a nutshell.

tldr: Get IPS.

Supder tldr: If you want a 27" monitor go for a 27" 1440p 60hz IPS monitor. 1440p so it doesn't look bad (computer may complain) 60hz because you won't be able to run 144hz and benefit from it and IPS because you can afford it and it's good. Look at pcPartPicker, I have already filled in the form for you. Also, the top monitor (ASUS PB278Q) happens to be the other monitor I have so AMA.

Ok, what's your budget to begin with?
And what's the main purpose of the monitor? (Gaming, art, design, etc..)

I recently bought a Dell S2716DG/R for my gaming rig and was pleasantly surprised with the picture quality. (Upgraded from a 1080p 32" TV monitor.)

Specs of the Dell
-27" screen
-2560 x 1440 at 144hz (DisplayPort)
-G-Sync
-1ms Response
-TN panel (I know you're looking for an IPS)
-Color Gamut (typical): 82% (CIE1976), 72% (CIE 1931) Color depth: 16.7 Million colors
-DisplayPort and HDMI
-2 USB 3.0 ports

Price: Bought it on 08/26/2017 at $449 (Best Buy) (Wait for the price drop, maybe you can get it for lower.)

Now, there's a 24" version that I've seen go down to $380 at Amazon. Dell 2417DG

If you can try to see the monitor in operation before buying, go check it out. But, it's been an amazing Switch for me and the colors have been way better than my original screen.

^ This is my pick.

Another monitor to consider

AOC Agon AG271QX

I've looked into this and was going to get it, until I found the Dell on sale... pretty good reviews. (Look outside of Amazon reviews, those are mixed with other products)

24" ver. of the AOC

u/vladsinger · 2 pointsr/Monitors

How about the Asus VS248H-P? Currently only $170 after a $20 rebate with Amazon prime. Not IPS unfortunately (not sure why amazon has the standard IPS disclaimer on it), but HDMI in, 1080p, relatively fast response time.

Some tweaking with settings (esp. by lowering "Trace Free" to 80/100) may be necessary out of the box to eliminate slight ghosting apparently, but generally reviewed positively by buyers. Actually you could go with the previous VS247H-P model is and that's ~$30 cheaper and supposedly 0.4" smaller diagonally.

If you wanted IPS you could drop an inch and go with the VS239H-P at $170. The Dell U2312HM is $205 at the moment, probably significantly better overall and picture quality and still very usable for gaming unless you play a lot of competitive high speed FPSs like Counterstrike.

Thanks a lot for helping a random stranger on the internet. I have been doing some research of my own and here is what I found.

NCX is a user that frequently comments on this subreddit and I have read some of his stuff.

He mostly recommends the HP 25xw. The problem is I have no way of buying it in Germany. Amazon only lets me buy the 24xw or the 27xw. Do they have the same panel, just in different sizes? Apparently they are extremely similar https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/4qi9gj/should_i_buy_the_hp_25xw_or_27xw/d4tttwt

He also recommends the Philips 257E7 however I can't buy that in Germany.

He posts a link to some website that reviews monitors but it is down for me.

However I have also read that a 25 inch 1080p should be the limit. If you go any bigger, 1080p doesn't do it anymore. This thread however says it looks great https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/4px8hw/is_the_hp_27xw_worth_it/

Something like this https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-U28E590D-28-Inch-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B00YD3DBOC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1474735601&sr=8-1&keywords=Samsung+U28E590D is also in my budget.

Edit: I have researched some more and stumbled upon AMD's FreeSync. My current card doesn't support it. You know what? I think I will actually buy a new gpu if it helps me use a better monitor. Your thoughts?

u/NotRoryWilliams · 1 pointr/Monitors

I see that has the same 250 brightness spec. In fact on paper it looks pretty equivalent except for the pivot mode, which I admit looks pretty appealing, but again I have to figure out whether it’s worth $130 more (I could probably get a better vesa desk mount for less than that).

Looks like Amazon has a 24” version of that LG for the same price as the 27 from Monoprice. LG 24UD58-B 24-Inch 4K UHD IPS Monitor with FreeSync https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LPNKFK0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_KYzfAbQW3F0NV I wish I could easily figure out whether those three inches matter. I believe the one I have at home is a 24”, but upon setting it up I discovered that 1080p (or maybe just this display, it is also a low-end LG that was around the same price a few years ago) is useless for document work in a display of that size.

you're an fps main then, therefore, i recommend <BenQ Zowie XL2411P> its the best for fps or samsung if you like Samsung but these are 1080p which i recommend, however.
this thing is so perfect whatsoever, AOC Agon AG241QX.
worth mentioning, i saw Linus reviews the 27" one he said the colors are bad but anything else is perfect, yes these exact specs have 27" but i recommend the 24"
actually if the shipping wasn't $160 for me i would've had it but I'm going with the zowie it's much much cheaper for me.

u/Aesyric · 1 pointr/Monitors

Same here man! Haha I have an HP from 2009. I'll be upgrading to a n ASUS VS248 that I have heard lots of good things about.

I'm sure what you bought is awesome with just a few flaws, you know how super nit picky some people can be.

Two models out there:

Asus VG279Q https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-VG279Q-Monitor-FreeSync-Adaptive/dp/B07KXHTRT5

Acer VG271 https://www.amazon.com/Acer-VG271-Pbmiipx-Technology-DisplayHDR400/dp/B07MDXF81K

I just picked up the Acer VG271 last week for $250 on Amazon and I am LOVING it. Until those 24" 1080p 144Hz IPS come out in who knows when, these two monitors are fantastic for a high refresh rate monitor that looks great without killing your video card.

u/sorijealut · 1 pointr/Monitors

I'll make my vote for the 4K LG 27ud68 to best compliment your 27" Dell. Amazon link. 60hz/ 5ms/ 300 cd/m2

Sometimes goes near $300 when on sale. I just got the 27ud58 (bigger bezels, simple stand and less bright) and I love it. I think the 68 model would be perfect for that bezel less screen duo.

u/Bobbydd21 · 2 pointsr/Monitors

I'm in the same boat. Looking to upgrade from 1440p to 4k.This LG monitor looked nice: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CH9ZTI4/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_img?_encoding=UTF8&colid=20MYFDJH3YOHS&coliid=I2CJYQRQRCM13N but the reviews say it has a pretty strong anti-glare coating. Would really like a glossy 4k monitor under $500. Are there any options??

I'm going to pick up the QHD version tomorrow. You can't beat benQ build quality. The price is also pretty good. I don't think g synch is that big of a deal. If you are on a budget these variants could be for you. I play cs go and mobas so I don't really need g synch.

Edit: LMAO I'm retarded I didn't see that this was the exact monitor you already had LOL.
I don't know how to help you dude. I don't think there are many monitors that can beat this type.

u/ibrown39 · 1 pointr/Monitors

I hear ya on the adaptive sync. Think it'll be a while though before we see 5k getting it since it seems 4k is only recently seeing it integrated. I felt the same about 1440p, and I'm coming from 4k, but I think if you game enough the higher refresh rates and other features for a lower price are probably worth it.

I hear the pg27uq is amazing but pretty much impossible to run past 60hz atm. I saw it at the store, no game or video to but colors looked nice. It's also only 27".

There are some nice ultrawides though at 1440p.

Here's a 4k 32" with freesync

I upgraded from a Samsung older 4k 28" monitor to the new LG 27UK600 and while the picture is pretty color wise if someone is wanting to save a little money to get into 4k gaming I highly suggest looking at cheaper options.

This Samsung makes a very nice picture for the price and the colors are quite nice.

Like r/atcasual stated, you really never want to cheap out on a monitor. I would look into getting a GPU in the $200 dollar range. Then get a nice quality IPS 1080p 144hz monitor. You will get far better color reproduction(games look so much better, and superior features. I always recommend getting the monitor you want for the next 5 years and the GPU for the next 2-3 years.

While yes, you cant max out all games with this set up, in games like Overwatch, CSGO, Killing Floor 2, and many others you will be over 100fps. Then in more modern AAA games(depending) you will be at 60fps. Since, you stated you were more of a casual gamer, I assumed you dont care about hitting 144hz in every single title.

u/SenzaStranahan · 1 pointr/Monitors

Sale is on amazon.com: www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00MSOND8C/ref=sxts1

I kinda wanted the same thing for my ps4 as well, but the ps4 I b have can't do 1440p so there's no added bonus. I don't know which one you have or if all ps4 can't go 2k. (I think I heard tell of one on some gameplay trailer called a neo) but your best bet is to just use the ps4 with a 1080p monitor/tv.

That's what I'm hoping for at least for myself. I finally pulled the trigger on the pg278q from amazon for that price. It's the lowest I've seen it.

u/lechechico · 9 pointsr/Monitors

How much would you like to spend?

You are US based correct?

Is there a preference in screen type (IPS vs TN vs 'best-of-both' VA/AHVA)?

What kind of games do you play? Shooters vs RPG vs Explore?

Basically 27" is standard 1440p fare, ~30-34 start to become widescreen 3440x1440 (IMO, a great monitor but pricey)

A safe, and good bet is the Dell S2716DG that you will not regret.

u/GhostBond · 1 pointr/Monitors

> I got the impression that IPS Panels were so vibrant and nice for games.

I mean, you gotta realize that some of that is always marketing. Frankly, if everyone seems to universally agree the new thing is amazing, it's probably a marketing push. That's going into a bit of a different topic.

> Usually I just play games, do some reading and write code (Mostly webapplications, so color accuracy is nice).

I use my monitor for exactly the same stuff. Computer programmer (websites), and gaming secondary. The color thing is massive marketing overhype. I'm just saying from personal experience of having had both kinds of monitors sitting on my desk in the last month.

You could always give it a shot yourself. :D Go to amazon, order both a TN and IPS panel, try them both, return the one you don't like. But I'm telling you, the IPS "amazing color" thing is way way overblown. My TN panel is more accurate than 2 of the IPS panels I've tried as well. This is the one I bought (Samsung U28E590D):
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YD3DBOC/ref=twister_B01HJ3JYMU?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I could really go on about it, suffice to say I have a lot of contempt at the moment for the big claims of IPS and have not found most of them to be true.

Anyways, whatever you do just order from somewhere with easy returns so if it turns out to be a poor upgrade it's not a big deal to return it. I just think it's kinda a bad time to upgrade monitors - I just saw the official announcement of a new hdmi spec today which has the bandwidth to allow much higher than 60hz refresh rates even on 4k monitors.

u/azdre · 2 pointsr/Monitors

Absolutely. An IPS display at that resolution will look noticeably better than your current monitor and you'll still be able to get 60+ fps with G-Sync in games if you tweak settings. That's a huge upgrade.

That being said, I've been looking to get a new monitor recently and haven't pulled the trigger on anything. Currently sitting with a 27" 1440p 60hz main (no g-sync or anything). Tried out the ASUS PG348Q and let me tell you...

Rocket League in ultrawide at 100fps is BUTTER. Also have used a 4k 60hz G-SYNC display and that is unreal.

"What's next" is really tempting to hold out for...but then you have to look at its cost along with the associated GPU upgrade cost that would be necessary to really utilize that real estate and it becomes a little far fetched, especially with a budget under a grand.

I love how we're at the point where you can ask if a 2560x1440p 144hz G-SYNC/FreeSync monitor would be a "worthy upgrade" and there actually be other options to give you pause.

u/myusernayme · 1 pointr/Monitors

The viewsonic xg2401 but you can't get a new one for less than $260.

$70 less For a monitor that is nearly as good is a great deal - people seem to enjoy having it from the reviews.

Outside of shitty colors out of the box, people have posted screen adjustments to get the colors pretty decent.

u/Zeag · 2 pointsr/Monitors

As you said, it's very unlikely that the 680 will push 100+ fps in recent and upcoming titles; this being said, you don't need rock-solid 144fps to enjoy the benefits of 144hz ;)

Do you use your PC a lot outside of gaming (such as for photo / movie editing)? If so there might be other incentives to upgrade to a 1440p display or even a 4K display. Personal rule of thumb: 1080p for 24" and below. 27 inches = 1440p (1080p+AA is kinda ok). Above = 4K (1440p+AA at 30" is fine as well)

It also depends on your budget... If you're planning on getting another GTX *80-something or equivalent as your next GPU down the line, you probably won't have trouble running these resolutions, but even a GTX 970 will start wobbling at 1440p.

If you want ultimate futureproofing, sell both kidneys and get a acer x34.

Hope that helps!

u/pastrypalace · 1 pointr/Monitors

Does IPS vs TN make a big difference?

Edit: I really appreciate your help and am sorry to keep bugging you.
The Viewsonic XG2402 and this BenQ Zowie Monitor are the same price. For the most part they seem like the same thing. Reviews seem pretty good for both of them. Any I always hear people raving about BenQ monitors. Any thoughts?

u/Prefix-NA · 1 pointr/Monitors

The Dell is poor colors with noticeable banding poor even for a TN monitor. Despite people recommending this monitor its actually pretty ass. I would try to avoid TN and if you do photoshop you want an IPS or a VA panel.

https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/dell/s2719dgf

The Samsung has no Adaptive sync and there are no reviews on the JG50 but it looks like its probably decent.

The Viotek GN27DB is pretty respected as a budget gaming monitor using a Samsung VA panel for the same price as the Dell in the USA.

https://www.amazon.com/d/Monitors/27-Inch-Monitor-Samsung-FreeSync-GamePlus/B078P57ZWL

If you are in Germany I would say this Viewsonic looks like a promising monitor for the price.
https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07B8DXNDZ/

u/ddusan · 1 pointr/Monitors

I suppose you want a gaming monitor, therefore I'll suggest only 144Hz models.

1440p is usually going for a higher price than $300 but this Viotek comes pretty close and even has a VA panel which has much better colors, contrast and viewing angles than TN monitors.

If you want to spend about $200 you might want to settle for 1080p. In that case I'd go with AOC C24G1 that has PCmonitors recommended badge (review here).

I wouldn't go with a TN monitor unless you plan to do only competitive FPS gaming. The picture quality of TN panels is so bad it's not viable for any other use.

u/killacam7478 · 1 pointr/Monitors

I think the Acer is better, but it's also Freesync. If you're getting a 1070, you'd be better off finding a G-Sync monitor so you're fully utilizing the GPU (and the monitor). Maybe something like this?
https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-XB241H-bmipr-1920x1080/dp/B01C05C1OK/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1465508278&sr=8-13&keywords=1440p+gsync

Edit: Oops that's 1080p. It looks like GSync monitors cost a bit more. I'm not too familiar with them (i'm team Red!), but I'll keep an eye out for ya!

u/gameguy32 · 1 pointr/Monitors

Of the two i would pick the MSI because of the lower price and Higher SRGB (basically how many colors it can produce) but if you care about a adjustable stand and RGB lighting you may want the Asus.

FYI if you want to go 1440p this Viotek which is very similar to the other two would be a good option right in the middle of your price range.

u/smashnmashbruh · 1 pointr/Monitors

Save money, don't get gsync, its not as important as 144hz or 250hz. 1080p allows for high frames as well, if you are stuck on 1440p that is fine, its just less frames.

FYI for monitors its all about making sure you get the panel you want, then finding the actual monitor manufacture that has bezel and features you like.

My recommendations

I picked up the Acer XF240H on a costco sale for 169.99$ a few months ago. 1080 144hz with FreeSync. It's about 200$ right now on amazon, I definitely recommend it!

The colors are kinda wonky out of the box though, and should be adjusted. I followed this post here and I've found that the color settings work pretty well for me

These are the ones I have.. the IPS 27" may have more accurate colors but for gaming I like the VA 32" far better.. colors are more vivid and contrast ratio is a LOT better.. the black levels on the 32" are amazing.

it's not a gsync monitor sadly, i mean it's definitely an improvement over what you currently have. I'd just suggest waiting a bit longer and spending another ~100 for something like this which would be a huge upgrade.

For a general purpose displays, I'd recommend looking at Dell and BenQ. They generally offer consistently good quality with good costumer support. Some specific monitors to consider:

TN panels should not get burn-in any more. I'd immediately return it. Buy a different brand too, if possible. There are many good Freesync QHD panels out there.

Food for thought: Personally I'd just add in the extra $70 and get a 27" VA panel. The VIOTEK GN27D seems pretty legit. It matches & exceeds your current specs. I don't know it and haven't read any reviews on it, though, but it looks great on paper.

Thanks! These two are like $500 more in Canada... AW it is apparently!

I've never tried their warehouse deals before. Think it's worth grabbing one in Very Good condition for $160 less?

The PG348Q is $1,149, $50 less than the new AW one. Not sure on this monitor though

u/MythicalPigeon · 1 pointr/Monitors

> response time like 5ms or lower

Response time doesn't matter very much, it's all marketing. Input lag is more important, and most monitors these days have very low input lag, if not nearly none.

u/yoonj93 · 1 pointr/Monitors

Can't personally vouch against other monitors through my own observations, but having thoroughly read review after review of the available 1080p 144hz gsync monitors-- the Acer Predator XB241H was the winner for me. Love this monitor, I've had it oc'ed to 180hz since the start (monitor OSD is disgustingly weird to navigate, but once you get the hang of it, it's all gucci).

Looks like the Acer Predator XB241H is on a little sale too!

u/Neolife · 1 pointr/Monitors

Well, I can just start listing 1080p 144hz flicker-free low-blue monitors with links to see if you find one with thin bezels, but the bezels are the limiting factor.

Viewsonic XG2401

BenQ XL2411Z

BenQ XL2430T (Not a big difference from the XL2411Z)

Acer XF240H, Newegg Link Here

That's pretty much all the non-Korean monitors you'll find that fit those 3 categories. 1080p 144hz just doens't have a lot with it. You already have the ASUS MG248Q, so I didn't include that one. I also only listed FreeSync-capable monitors.

u/IdRaptor · 2 pointsr/Monitors

Let me lay out the competition:
ViewSonic XG2703-GS (4ms)
ASUS ROG SWIFT PG279Q (4ms)
Acer Predator XB271HU bmiprz (4ms)

Here's the deal, I've never heard of an IPS panel with an advertised sub 4ms response time. I don't think they exist. If you can manage to dredge one up from the depths I can guarantee it's either manipulative marketing, or a professional grade monitor which costs far more than a grand.

From what I've heard response time itself is primarily marketing BS when provided without the input lag (which conveniently no monitor manufacturers seem to provide).

Without both input lag and response times you don't have the full set of information to determine the actual amount of time it takes to propagate an image to the screen after an action, so there's not much to be gained from comparing a few milliseconds.

u/hitlersrighttesticle · 1 pointr/Monitors

I think your best bet is the G2590FX, since it is Gsync compatible. And with the current sale, it's right under your budget.

FYI Freesync is only supported by 1000's and 2000's series cards.

u/4ever1der · 5 pointsr/Monitors

If you truly have no budget. May I recommend a g-sync 21:9? This is a [beast of a monitor] (https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-UltraWide-Widescreen-X34/dp/B016GNX4SE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1469540543&sr=8-2&keywords=Acer+g-sync+21%3A9)

21:9 gives you the most immersive gaming experience with a larger FOV that makes traditional 16:9 feel cramped in comparison. Later in the year there are more ultrawides in development with even higher refresh rates like native 100hz-200hz thanks to DisplayPort 1.3/1.4. But that acer I suggested will be plenty fast.

u/DVNO · 1 pointr/Monitors

This 4k monitor is comparable to some 1440p monitors, and gets generally very positive reviews. I have the 27" version and I'm quite happy with it.

u/THEJEWSCONTROLUS · 1 pointr/Monitors

Well you are limited to a TN panel then, but also you really want gsync or freesync (depending on the gpu you have).

this is the best you can get: https://www.amazon.com/AOC-AG241QX-Gaming-Monitor-2560x1440/dp/B01NCTHS6E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1503532459&sr=8-1&keywords=1440p+144hz

its $340 plus tax, so around $370 (depending on the state)

u/edurodenas · 3 pointsr/Monitors

You'd clearly benefit from a new monitor. For the GTX 1070 I'd recommend a 1440p 60Hz IPS monitor or a 1080p 144Hz IPS GSync monitor. I have a GTX 1080 and it runs newer AAA games at around 100fps at 1440p max settings, so the GTX 1070 will run them close to 60 fps at 1440p.

u/ottosunday · 1 pointr/Monitors

The only company that makes IPS panels is LG.

LG supplies these panels to other manufacturers and uses them in their own monitors as well. The difference between an LG IPS Panel and another companies will be the on screen interface, chassis, stand and quality control.

At the moment Asus has some of the best deals I've seen for 23"-24" IPS panels.

Take a look on amazon at this one or this one

u/Chusta · 1 pointr/Monitors

Looks like the price is comparable to what i'm seeing here in the states (Your price is a bit cheaper): https://www.amazon.com/AOC-AG271QX-2560x1440-Adjustable-DisplayPort/dp/B01G5JYN0C

I'm not particularly familiar with the AGON brand and I assume the fact that it's not "brand name" is why it's cheaper. Although spec-wise it IS comparable to the acer monitor you linked and reviews from the Amazon link I gave sound like people generally like it.

u/MarcKlockow · 1 pointr/Monitors

Thanks for the info, honestly I'm not sure if 144hz is quite my thing yet. How would something like this fare?

u/PalebloodSky · 1 pointr/Monitors

Yea go with that one, VA is a great looking tech with better contrast than IPS and TN. I just haven't used VA much other than my 4K TV, I heard they typically have slightly more ghosting than TN. Also notice it's not G-Sync Compatible if you're looking for that although in CSGO you might not want it since people usually run that game north of 240fps.

Here is another decent TN option to compare: https://www.amazon.com/AOC-G2590FX-Framless-1920x1080-DisplayPort/dp/B07D377Q6D/

u/Pyronees · 4 pointsr/Monitors

You're going into the very questionable part of monitors right now. All those monitors all use panels made by AUO and are all "IPS like technology" and not true IPS. AHVA is what it's commonly called. These monitors are the AOC AGON AG271QG, Acer Predator XB271HU, ViewSonic XG2703-GS, and the Asus RoG Swift PG279Q. They typically range in price from 500 to 800 USD new depending on sales. The Acer Predator has been found at Costco twice in the past year on sale for $500-$600 USD and sometimes less depending on the Costco location.

You can find specs here http://www.displayspecifications.com/en/comparison/ffbdef8b

Make sure to do your research before buying any of them. They're known to have some quality issues and it's often referred to as a lottery. Make sure to buy from a retailer like Amazon where you can easily return them or exchange for another if you encounter issues. I recommend searching this reddit for reviews, pcmonitors.info, and checking out overclock.net. You'll find plenty of information on those websites and see peoples experience. I personally tried buying the Viewsonic once and had some bad blb in the top right and bottom left corner that was a yellowish/orange color. I returned it.

If you're not liking any of these, then there is the Dell Gaming S2716DG which is a TN panel. It's known to have good color, but it has some sleep issues and color banding. Only around $500 USD and escapes the gaming aesthetic if it's not your thing. Samsung is also expected to be releasing Quantum Dot 1440p g-sync monitor sometime in the future, but I don't know much about that.

Response to edit: Acer does have some g-sync curved monitors, but they're not 16:9 aspect ratio. There's the Acer x34 which only goes up to 100Hz when OC'd.

Well then, if your budget is 280, you have a lot of room. For GTA and the other games you play besides CS:GO, I reckon you will want something with at least decent picture quality. I'm saying this because the VG248QE is not worth $279.

While researching a bit, this monitor looks very promising: https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-Response-eQualizer-Adjustable-XL2411P/dp/B01H5KKQTM?th=1

Don't be scared to upgrade your computer. As long as it's not a super compact build, swapping out a graphics card should be pretty straightforward. You can find many tutorials and guides on youtube on how to replace a graphics card.
Here's a guide by Linus Tech Tips on installing graphics cards: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyDxrTHDjXQ.
I would recommend a gtx 1080 or 1070 ti for high framerate 1440p gaming.
The acer xb1 monitors are relatively inexpensive g-sync monitors, coming in several configurations: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N11QIYW/?coliid=I3TG2AGJYQR75C&colid=1B3MPQKLGUEYF&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1.

u/TrueDiligence · 2 pointsr/Monitors

Just to clarify, resolution is the determining factor in how much you can fit on a screen. A 32" 1440p display and a 27" 1440p display can fit the same amount of 'stuff' on the screen.

I'm not a fan of Sceptre. They are generally poor quality displays and many have QC issues (dead pixels being the most common), but $230 is the cheapest you will find a 4K monitor. If you wanted a 4K IPS monitor besides that one you would be looking at the following:

LG 24UD58 - $270

> This is a 24" 4K monitor, way too small to make the most of the resolution, even for coding.

Acer - $329

> This is 27" which is more reasonable, but has a weird stand (if that matters to you).

Ideally a 4K monitor would be 32"+. Running 4 applications at 1080p on a 24" 4K screen is like running those same applications at 1080p on a 12" screen, similar to using a netbook. When using a netbook you would typically have it very close to you, with a monitor on a desk that won't be the case.

-------------------

For your use and budget I would suggest the Acer G247HYU. It's a decent panel, but the stand is very minimal. It's cheap, under $200, and you can add a second monitor in the future to have more screen real estate.

u/Maxamus53 · 2 pointsr/Monitors

I would recommend against using a TV for PC gaming, since the input lag is generally quite awful.

In my opinion, 1440p 144hz IPS and Gsync is the best right now for gaming and general purpose use, but if you want a larger screen you could get a 34" 4k monitor (although this will only be 60hz) or an ultrawide 3440x1440 monitor at 100hz like this one (note: these are expensive).

Looks similar to the Acer VG271 that is being sold on amazon for prime day for only 210$ :) https://www.amazon.com/Acer-VG271-Pbmiipx-Technology-DisplayHDR400/dp/B07MDXF81K/

That one looks similar, but it's Freesync, and officially G-sync compatible, but I don't know how big of a difference that makes. Also I was looking into the 27" model but I feel like that's too big for me.

Curved monitors are usually the ultrawide ones. I don't think there are 4K UW monitors yet but 2K yes (although they are expensive) I currently have the Asus PG348 3440x1440 at 100hz refresh rate. (price around 800$-1200$).

if csgo and overwatch are you main focus and you play at a decent rank or just take it serious id recommend this monitor at first it will look awful out of the box you will need to tweak the settings, for csgo and ow i use fps1 with mostly nikos settings you can find here and then for general use i use srgb mode at 60% brightness

Sorry I didn't notice you wanted 1ms. AD27QD is probably the best you can get but it's slightly over your budget. If you don't care IPS you have alternatives at the cost of image quality and/or color accuracy but it shouldn't be a problem since you have mentioned 144Hz and I guess you would use this monitor purely for gaming.

S2719DGF if you have a NVIDIA card or AG271QX if you have an AMD card are my recommendations.

They both sell for $300ish.

Click the 2560x1440 box on here, and that's the one I have. Like I said, though, it's a Freesync monitor, so you'd want the Gsync equivalent. Something like this, but jeez, I have no idea why Gsync monitors always cost more.

Oh, this is the one I would've wanted when I was considering an Nvidia card. Only $509 right now, but for some reason, looks like they edited the page a bunch since I last looked at it. Should have all the same specs, they just don't seem to care to advertise it at the top anymore. It's all in the product description though.

You could also get this one. The stand isn’t adjustable, but I think it’s VESA mount compatible, meaning that you can easily buy a different stand and attach it.

I am aware that adaptive sync and G-sync are essentially the same. Its not that I even have a preference of one or the other ...

To my knowledge, the caveat is that if you use an Nvidia GPU (like a RTX 2060) and buy a free-sync monitor (which are the better deal displays) then regarding adaptive frame rate its not compatible.

Thats not counting the 12 displays that nvidia said would be compatible with both after the new driver update. One of which is this

Or should I just say screw variable frame rates and get a free-sync, non g-sync compatible curved monitor of the same price ?

theres a good acer one 27 inch 144hz ips but its 209. on amazon now for deal of the day

Acer XF240H is a good and cheap 144hz freesync monitor

u/ClusterMorph · 1 pointr/Monitors

If you go for a 1080 or a 1080 ti I highly recommend these.

Dell S2716DG (1 ms, g-sync, tn, 1440p, 144hz)

Viewsonic XG2703 (4 ms, g-sync, ips, 1440p, 165hz)

I picked up this Samsung TN model for $250 on Thanksgiving:
Samsung U28E590D 28-Inch UHD LED-Lit Monitor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YD3DBOC

It's out of your price range now as Amazon has it out of stock, but worth keeping an eye on as it's dropped down to $250 a couple of times lately:

I just snagged a refurbished XG2703-GS for $524.99 with a 90 day warranty and there's literally nothing wrong with it, other than the green accent lights that I wasn't too thrilled about considering purchasing the monitor don't work. I actually prefer it that way. Took some tinkering to get it to play nicely with my second monitor, but it's butter smooth at 165hz.

This one. Probably going to pick it up to use as my main monitor.

I've seen people complaining about the ppi but I've been using a small 60hz monitor for close to 7 years. I'm sure I'll get used to it.

It's not 4k

ASUS ROG SWIFT 27-inch 144Hz G-SYNC Gaming 3D Monitor [PG278Q] 1440p, 1ms Rapid Response Time, 2560 x 1440 WQHD Full HD Display with Pivot, Tilt, and Swivel, USB 3.0, Display Port https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00MSOND8C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_49y-Bb5ECA0YP

These two options might be in your price range the Acer Predator XB241H: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01C05C1OK/ref=twister_B06XTM8KR7
or the ASUS ROG SWIFT PG248Q: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M4II4M4/ref=twister_B01HTLZX1I

u/-secondary · 0 pointsr/Monitors

The fourth option: BenQ ZOWIE XL2411P https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-Response-Equalizer-Vibrance-Adjustable/dp/B01H5KKQTM?ref_=bl_dp_s_web_2529025011

There's a reason you rarely see BenQ advertise Zowie products. It's the same reason I'll never game on any other brand of monitor. (I play CS competively though, you may not be as discerning.)

Honestly, with only $300, your looking at this : https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01G5JYN0C/ref=psdc_1292115011_t2_B01LHYIATA?th=1
theres not much in the market for what your asking for in price but that. Of course, excluding sales/deals.

u/Fizzmopper · 2 pointsr/Monitors

I bought the Asus ROG Switch 34" 1440 IPS with G-Sync and I freaking love it:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01C83BE6U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Note sure if you can get it where you live but I have had it a few months and no problems and it looks fantastic.

u/sicfreak91 · 1 pointr/Monitors

This Acer monitor is probably your best bet for around $350 with your rx570. You should be able to do 1440p 144hz in most games just fine. The freesync will help with dipping framerates anyway

This one is a VA panel so the colors will be better, but it's by a weird brand that I have no experience with. So it's up to you

u/Anitaliandude · 2 pointsr/Monitors

You have to check the specs on that monitor too. It doesn't look like a gaming monitor at all. If the response time is not 1 ms ditch it.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01H5KKQTM/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1526129021&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=xl2411+benq

The one I linked is an E-sports monitor with adjustable height that can both play at 144Hz and at 60Hz.

Go for it if wanna game, there are also similar alternatives with gaming sync for even less.

One piece of advice, before buying a monitor, please check it out on fakespot.com
My older brother showed me this. I’m not sure why, but monitors attract a lot of fake reviews for some reason.
For what it’s worth, I’m also thinking of getting 2 monitors, similar wishlist, this is what I think I’m going to end up with: AOC Agon AG271QX 27" Gaming Monitor, QHD 2560x1440, FreeSync, 144Hz, 1ms, DisplayPort/HDMI/DVI-D/VGA, QuickSwitch keypad, VESA https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01G5JYN0C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_CbrwCb9ETAG83

Look up the Viewsonic XG2703-GS on Amazon

1440p
165hz
4ms Response Time
G-Sync
IPS
$525

u/tenfootgiant · 1 pointr/Monitors

I just ordered the Benq XL2411 and it arrives tomorrow. I had the 120hz 3D XL2410T when it came out years ago and I've used it for several years without issue. I'll let you know if you don't get any better advise. Though the one you linked has Freesync which this one does not. Another note that the one you mentioned has Display Port if that matters to you as well.

u/Nathanman21 · 1 pointr/Monitors

This one is better brand but I don't know them well enough, I read a lot of articles on them. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01C05C1OK/ref=psdcmw_1292115011_t1_B00SIZ8QDM

How about the BenQ GW2765HT instead of the BenQ GL2706PQ? It is IPS.
