OK, I play on PC so I think this should work for you.

I'm in the same boat. Grew up playing MK1-3 at the arcade and wanted to play MKX.

After trying to play on a controller, I couldn't get into it. So I decided to go the fight stick route. Had no clue which way to go but after lots of searching and whatnot, here';s what I found.

Biohazard and others like to use a TE2. It seems to be the bee's knees. I didn't want to sink $200 into a stick to try out so I got a Qanba Drone. The joystick didn't feel right so I found this tutorial that shows ya how to change the joystick out for a better one. Now, technically it's not like the old MK1-3 sticks in the arcade but I've grown to like it. You can change out the buttons too if you want but I haven't done that yet.

If you want a fight stick that's like the old MK arcade sticks, you want one of these.

Let me know if i can help ya out anymore.

Well with fightsticks it’s safe to say go big or go home because most cheap ones are garbage but this one is a special circumstance. You’ll probably eventually upgrade it or upgrade to a new one but if you don’t do either of those things it will last you a super long time!

I have been using a ps3 controller which I am sure is not quiet as good as a ps4 controller but is a little cheaper. SCP is the best way to get it working.

For keyboards I have really been liking my Perixx 11483. $60 would almost be enough to get this and a PS3 controller.

Alternatively you could use something like this. PSN controllers are better for the dpads.

And finally there is the elite controller. It's got great buttons, absolutely not worth the 150 price tag. Find it on sale, then it's totally worth it!

You can find similar products available for purchase currently. Find something like this in-store and check out the feel of the buttons to see if you like it. If you don't like the left stick, don't worry. The MKX ones are actual Dpads, so as long as you enjoy the feel of the buttons you'll be good to go.

Kind of looking to pick up one of these cause it has the toggle for Left and Right the stick, so it can still be used for consumables. Friend has one and its actually fairly decent. I like the D-pad on this one a little more than I do the Hori.

Look at the replies to your post. It really wasn’t funny.

Do some research. Crunch is real, it happens a lot in the industry. I don’t think NetherRealm has denied it either. Here’s a good book that shares a lot of stories about crunch and how damaging it can be:

Blood, Sweat, and Pixels: The Triumphant, Turbulent Stories Behind How Video Games Are Made https://www.amazon.com/dp/0062651234/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_5nooDbZGYAZP0

Pretty sure the crybabies in this scenario are the people whining they’re not getting their DLC fast enough.

building your own will run close to that...

PCB - cheapest would be pad hack but you'd need soldering skills so ~$50

Case- old one off ebay $50

Buttons - $2.50 each so $25

Joystick - $20

Misc wires and QDs- $15

so you are at somewhere around $150 without factoring in shipping or taxes...

best bet get this - http://www.amazon.com/HORI-Real-Arcade-Pro-Hayabusa-Xbox/dp/B00ND0EBQ8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1426620327&sr=8-1&keywords=hori+xbox+one

If you have a bug up you to do a project then here is a walkthrough - http://stevokanevo.blogspot.com/2013/12/xbox-one-padhack-joystick-building_10.html

I suppose you could use something like this but a proper ps4 controller would last you a lot longer and much more comfortable to hold

u/MidnightDemon · 1 pointr/MortalKombat

I was looking at the Hori FC4 which looks pretty nice.

u/Stiegelsauce · 2 pointsr/MortalKombat

If you are just starting out for cheap you can get a hori fight stick mini for about $50.

https://www.amazon.com/HORI-Fighting-Stick-Mini-PlayStation-4/dp/B014KXMEW4

if you want a large one you really cant go wrong with a Qanba drone.

https://www.amazon.com/Qanba-Drone-PlayStation-4/dp/B01I0GEDEY/ref=sr_1_1?hvadid=174249048211&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9013192&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=e&hvrand=4422332991940354643&hvtargid=aud-647006051489%3Akwd-208944826600&keywords=qanba+drone&qid=1554995563&s=gateway&sr=8-1

if its your first stick it may a take a few days to get used to, but i personally use the mini when i travel to a friends house and a larger stick at home.

From Amazon where I ordered the Premium Edition from:

>Mortal Kombat 11 Premium Collection includes: full game + steelbook + Kombat Pack

I'm so glad. It looks great.

u/Vault24 · 2 pointsr/MortalKombat

Even if it has a solid build, the price of that thing leaves me dumbfounded, when I've seen other things such as qanba fightsticks which is slightly priced lower, with the pc/ps3 black clip on version sitting at $70, which is the highest I'd probably go. I havent heard of anyone using a fightstick for MK, usually they use it for Street Fighter, King of Fighters, etc etc. I'm getting a white PS3 controller (first dualshock since PS2 days), hopefully I won't be a pad warrior for long lol.

EDIT:

Cheaper Blue Hori Mini

EDIT 2:

God damn this fightstick is sexy, bookmarked

u/Killit_Witfya · 1 pointr/MortalKombat

id go for this one as i heard that mk one has some issues https://www.amazon.com/PS4-PS3-PC-compatible-Fighting-commander/dp/B017QORK8W/ref=sr_1_3?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1480206936&sr=1-3&keywords=hori+fc4 if you can handle the price that is edit: see u posted the hori fc4 the one i linked is a bit cheaper and just as good i imagine

I second this.

I've just started playing MKX a couple of months ago and wanted to play it seriously and try to be competitive.

Only thing I had was the 360 controller which sucks balls.

You don't want to use an analog stick you want to use a good D-pad and the 360 D-pad sucks.

I didn't know how much I would be into this game or not so I got this $20 fightpad by PDP which was wayy better than my expectations for it. I highly recommend it for the price.

If you really like the game and want something better get this

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TKLFES8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I just got mine today and it does feel noticeably better than the PDP pad.

I think some more serious people use fight sticks and hitboxes and other strange controllers but I don't know ab any of that shit.

u/Eight-Six-Four · 2 pointsr/MortalKombat

Not true.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GVOFIAA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

I've got this controller and it will repeatedly press any of the face buttons, bumpers, or triggers for me. You can set it to hold the button down or you can set it to rapidly press it. So, if I want to go afk, I can set it to rapidly press cross and it will just keep inputting "X, X, X, X, X, X, X, X, X" for as long as the controller is on.
