i purchased this one from Amazon as a gift and accidentally ordered two. Decide to keep the extra, and i got to say that this is the best thing i have purchased in a long while. The X sticks out a little but it works great! Everyone who i have showed it to has been completely floored by it and 2 people are actually going to get the X as a direct result of playing with Cardboard and the Spotlight app.
The X does get a little warm if i use it for a long time but i have had no issues other than that.

The one i got works great other than the double-sided tape they use is kinda lame so i added a more robust tape but other than that i absolutely love it . Also, i used a penknife to score the pulltab before pulling it because the perforations seemed a little shallow. A bunch of people are getting this from me as Christmas gifts.

The app i use to manage my storage is ES File Explorer File Manager https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop

i have 2 things that i use for storage.

Kingston Digital DT MicroDuo USB 2.0 micro USB OTG
by Kingston
Link: http://amzn.com/B00JE72K94

This is a usb key with a micro usb on one side so you can plug it into your phone directly.

The other is a wireless drive that allows me to connect to my android phone or iPad or even my laptop. it's called the RAVPower FileHub Wireless SD Card Reader with Built-in 3000mAh External Battery Pack black and white

Link: http://amzn.com/B00INMB23Q

The device creates a wifi network and allows the device to connect. Now there are other wireless drives out there but the nice thing about this drive is that it uses USB or SD cards for storage so moving the data onto the drive is very easy. I was able to get a nice cheap SD card for storage. Also as a nice bonus it has a little battery backup.

I use these, but in white (the white ones are like $60 now, I have no idea why). They're great, the don't tangle, and they sound great. While the white one looks nice, it gets dirty very easily, so I'd recommend the black one anyways. They have tons of variations (extra buttons, etc). Just make sure you buy a universal model:

http://www.amazon.com/JAYS--JAYS-One-Universal-Remote/dp/B006FTEDFI/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1404233847&sr=8-4&keywords=a-jays+earphones

So I got the Sandisk Professional Ultra SanDisk 64GB MicroSDXC Class 10.

https://www.amazon.com/Professional-SanDisk-MicroSDXC-formatted-recording/dp/106171327X/ref=sr_1_17?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1494543075&sr=1-17&keywords=micro+sd+card

I had thought that was top tier but I suppose I will try the one you recommend. You have apps on it and they run normally?

EDIT ok wow I am on Amazon now seeing much more expensive "professional" micro SD cards, that I missed when I bought the phone. I appreciate this, I hope it works! Thank you!

u/wazzuper1 · 1 pointr/MotoX

I can see this device working pretty well and was considering backing the first iteration of it on Kickstarter, but ended up not needing it. It's on its second generation design which is supposed to be sturdier. I feel it's probably better for those that already have 64 or 128 GB cards since it's basically $12 + $3 for shipping, effectively making it $15 for just the converters and its casing, while there are some on Amazon for around that price range which include the storage space of 16 - 32 GB as well.

Do you happen to know if we can use backup apps like Titanium Backup to write files to it? Or is this more used for just media consumption, i.e. read-only? I'm trying to offload app backups, images, and recorded videos, which are the main things eating my phone space.

The largest microSD card size I currently have (and it's not being used) is 32 GB.

For about $16 I can get this Silicon Power drive which is also USB 2.0.

Alternatively, there is also this $16 Kingston Data Traveler drive which is purportedly USB 3.0, though reviewers say it's actually rather slow for USB 3.0.

What are your thoughts? I'm concerned with the durability of it breaking off from the keyring hole and its speeds (though I suppose if I were backing up apps, I'd do that overnight anyways).

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/MotoX

Thanks for your reply! :) I'd definitely need a rooted phone - I've been using an old Samsung phone since ~3 years, and I've had it rooted for ~2.5 years.

Price is definitely a constraint, yes - but I wonder whether buying a new device from Amazon (the ones I've liked - one, [two] (http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Moto-Developer-Black-Unlocked/dp/B00HOKAKYU/ref=sr_1_1?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1413910825&sr=1-1&keywords=moto+x) - are listed under 'new') will let me keep my warranty? I'm not familiar with how things are done in the US, and warranty is definitely something I'm willing to pay the incremental ~$60 for.

u/PCLOAD_LETTER · 1 pointr/MotoX

Not sure what they have on eBay but looking at Amazon, they have with and without frame. I haven't done either on a 2015 but I have replaced both types on other phones and I'd recommend the with frame version. I have replaced the battery on my 2015 and nothing about that made me think a frame less screen replacement would be easy. The best advice is to watch a few youtube videos and decide for yourself if its within your skill level.

http://www.amazon.com/Aukey-Charger-Adapter-AIPower-Included/dp/B00LJT2EPK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1449082385&sr=8-3&keywords=aukey+quick+charger - I bought this car charger and it works great. It'll TurboCharge it and everything. My phone ends up being about 50% by the time I'm done with work, so I use this on my commute home (about 30+ mins) and it charges it up almost to 100% by the time I get home.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013HSQXZC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 - Bought this for travel. It's a little bit finicky, like sometimes it won't say "TurboCharge Connected" when you first plug it in, but unplugging and replugging usually does the trick. Definitely doesn't charge as fast as the car quick charger, or the included AC adapter, but it still seems to charge at a pretty decent rate, easily the fastest I've seen out of any battery pack I've ever used.

u/AlucardZero · 1 pointr/MotoX

I don't believe in suction cups as they leave marks on the dash/windshield that say "expensive electronics probably inside! rob me!".

This is good, but the air vent holder did NOT easily fit on my air vents. I sold it to a friend.

I got this instead which does fit on my air vents. You can't swivel it from side to side but other than that I am happy with it.

u/MigLife · 2 pointsr/MotoX

It abviously adds a bit of size, but with the case I got it is as small as it can be and still add some security. I have no issue with pocket or usability with my case. Here is the amazon link if you are interested:

I can take a pic of my phone in case if you would like to see?

u/YesButIThink · 2 pointsr/MotoX

This one works in full "turbo" mode just like the original:

Motorola TurboPower OEM Super Fast Rapid Charger for Droid Turbo 2,Maxx 2 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01884O0XW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_psTGyb17Q7W5R

I have the PNY U3 Turbo Performance 64GB (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00W77C1QU/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_VDFzwbZ4KPW6A). It works great and also records 4k without issues. Another one to look at would be the Samsung Pro which is better in my opinion.

u/jacobgb24 · 1 pointr/MotoX

The Moto x pure has a standard micro USB port. You can connect it to your computer with a cable like this. If you want to move files straight to a flash drive you need an USB otg cable like this.

u/pearlythepirate · 3 pointsr/MotoX

This one works great for me. Can't tell the difference in time to charge versus AC. And you can charge it using quick charging as well.

USB C Hubs Portable Charger RAVPower 20100mAh 30W Type C iSmart 3.0 Data Transfer, USB C/Type C Port Output, Power Bank External Battery Pack for Smartphones, MacBook 12'' https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0156HCJQO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_oxcsybZK77KZC

u/milkXmuffin · 2 pointsr/MotoX

I used this PowerBot Charging Pad and this other 3rd party pad both of which were able to charge my friend's Nexus 5 perfectly fine.

The two coils I used were this blue one for the S5 and this blue one for the Note 3. I checked the voltages that the coils were pulling and they were good, but I did not check the current.

My memory is a little fuzzy, but I think my moto skip still worked with the coil installed.

u/spif · 2 pointsr/MotoX

This is the one I have, works great, charges very quickly: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014GRM294

they also make these:

http://www.amazon.com/Qualcomm-RAVPower-20100mAh-Portable-External/dp/B0156HCJQO

http://www.amazon.com/Qualcomm-Certified-RAVPower-20100mAh-Technology/dp/B019IFIJW8

Those two have type C connectors, and the last one is also QC 3.0 compatible so if you get a device with that later on it'll be compatible as well. Right now the LG G5 is the only flagship device with QC 3.0, but I imagine the next gen Moto X will have it as well. Depends on how often you refresh your phone I guess, or if you have or plan to get other devices with type C.

u/Dora_De_Destroya · 2 pointsr/MotoX

Go for a UH 3 class 10 card to get the best performance.

This seems to be what everyone is recommending
PNY U3 Turbo Performance 64GB High Speed MicroSDXC Class 10 UHS-I, up to 90MB/sec Flash Card (P-SDUX64U390G-GE) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00W77C1QU/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_GyEywbDZXZCNS

u/repr1sal · 2 pointsr/MotoX

PNY doesnt make their own cards

This review is the best and most exhaustive info ive found
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/review/B00W77C1QU/R1M1KB1OYANQ27/ref=cm_cr_dp_aw_rvw_1?ie=UTF8&cursor=1

Edit: okay i made a mess of this...just read the amazon review

u/molotovsoup · 5 pointsr/MotoX

The receiver was $10 and the charging pad was $23 so $33 total. (Minus the Torx T4 screwdriver & pry tool which I already had).

It's actually much easier than it sounds;

I followed this video to remove the back cover, stuck the receiver to the adhesive on the back cover of the phone and plugged it in. I used a small piece of packaging tape to hold the ribbon cable in the perfect spot (so it's not super long but long enough that I can unplug it if necessary). Then just snapped the covers back together and voila!

The only drawback I've noticed is that the back cover is very thin so it sort of "forms" to the contours of the receiver inside. If you look closely at the second picture, you can kind of see the outline of the receiver. It's a minor complaint but worth mentioning.

u/create_destroy · 1 pointr/MotoX

Not out of the box, but if you have a case to tuck one of these Qi adapters - that should work - it does according to this guy anyway:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/review/B00H7FJX7M/R2YPDLOU1BD4QE/ref=mw_dp_cr?cursor=2&sort=rd

I'm definitely going to try this in the future, have to figure out how to hide it with a sticker or something that's just the right size for my case. Or maybe paint the Qi film to match. Or put a sticker on the Qi thing itself!

u/staykraken · 3 pointsr/MotoX

I use this in my car and this for work/travel and they both charge quickly. The second one is currently out of stock but the build and functionality of the brand is fairly good. It fiddles around for the first five seconds saying TurboPower connected/disconnected but stays charging afterwards. Plus, you can get good deals on both of those with the offers underneath them.

Edit: Have been using both since November with no problems.

u/BajingoWhisperer · 3 pointsr/MotoX

When you buy one make sure it's screen + frame like this one

u/SirRipo · 1 pointr/MotoX

This is the one I've been using - it's pretty great, slightly slower than the stock charger but connects as turbopower and it charges quickly.

u/ArcticRain · 0 pointsr/MotoX

I just went with a Bluetooth FM transmitter like this, isn't an integrated unit, but for the price you get a lot.

http://www.amazon.com/GOgroove-FlexSMART-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Hands-Free/dp/B003PPGOC0

u/aglass445 · 1 pointr/MotoX

All you need to do is search motorola quick charger on amazon and it should show up.

Heres the link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01884O0XW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_S1FsxbYQSG44T

u/PotRoastPotato · 1 pointr/MotoX

Plug a USB mouse into your phone via this device and use the mouse to control your phone and upload your stuff to Drive or Dropbox.

Or take it to a cell phone repair place and let them repair the screen.

u/TeamTaeyeon · 1 pointr/MotoX

I use this works just as fast as the 25w. Which I assume is about the same as that.

u/dev1359 · 1 pointr/MotoX

Whatever you do, don't get this card: http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-microSDXC-Standard-Packaging-SDSQUNC-064G-GN6MA/dp/B010Q588D4/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1451946352&sr=1-1&keywords=sandisk+microsd

It would get stuck at 30% whenever I would try to format it on my phone. Apparently it's a common issue that other people are having and it seems to be with SanDisk cards.

I ended up returning it and getting this card instead, no issues so far: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00W77C1QU?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00
