Well I love my tempered glass protector, I think that's the most important accessory for any phone. Don't recall the brand. And this Spigen clear case is quite nice

But I think the one I'd recommend most to people is the Koomus CD slot car mount, which I am very happy with, after years of trying to find the perfect way of mounting my phone in the car. http://www.amazon.com/Koomus-CD-Air-Smartphone-Android-Devices/dp/B00HRKI5V2/ref=sr_1_2?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1450358034&sr=1-2&keywords=koomus

Defenitely the Verus case!

I think it just looks amazing. Ports are clear, had nog headphones or chargers wich didn't fit. The inner case feels really solid, so it will protect your 6P pretty good. Also on the back side it has a horizontal pattern which give it a metal-ish look. It looks and feels great. I chose the blue version which give your phone a unique look.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Nexus!

I have the 64GB Frost in a Google Live Case. I also have the Verus case (found here: http://www.amazon.com/Nexus-Verus-Shield-Satin-Silver/dp/B015GHQHZ8/ ) and I love them both. I like the Live Case a bit more because of the personalized photo, but the Verus case is very nice for a good price.

What carrier did you end up going with?

Sennheiser Momentum In-Ear (Android version), 506244 - Black Red https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00N3RFFV6/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_qB6nxbXJSJ2GE

I've used these religiously over the past year. They are a little pricey, but the quality is outstanding and the controls that you mention work great. Great for music and conference calls.

I had the Mountek one for 3 years and loved it... CD tray usage was nice. it finally broke the other day and i picked up another type that was magnetic.

it c omes with 2 plates, a super thin one to go between your phone and inside of your case (im using that method right now) and another plate that has 3M tape on the back to place on your phone directly if you go naked.

its pretty dang awesome and very strong.

u/dothestew · 19 pointsr/Nexus6P

This has been brought up pretty often on this subreddit, and I feel like there is a division between two main theories on the problem:

  • It's a software glitch / bad reporting / excessive app or system use.
  • It's a hardware malfunction.

I was in the same situation (very similar screenshot) and was told by a Google representative after a few e-mails back and forth that I was out of my warranty period. I finally got fed up with it enough that I bought a new battery and replaced it a few days ago. As others who have also replaced their batteries have said, it truly is like having a brand new phone. I highly recommend it, though the process is a pain in the ass. Being concerned anytime the phone is below 60% battery is no way to live, especially when it drops to that point so quickly after being taken off charge.

Battery - $8.99 Amazon Prime; comes with opening tools but does not include a precision knife.

Replacement back glass camera cover - $7.99 Amazon Prime; because the battery did not come with precision knives and I am not a patient man, so I clearly broke the glass.

Precision knife - $3.58 add-on item; plan ahead. Don't be like me.

Heat gun - $19.97 Amazon Prime; you can use a hair dryer but this is a ton easier.

If you decide to go ahead with it, best of luck.

The Centra Snap case I've owned for a month and a bit, and it feels awesome. I used to have the Adopted case before that and the Centra is much, much better. Good cutouts, buttons are easy to press, and because of the almost non-existent lip I feel like I'm using it without a case because of how my fingers just slide off the screen.

I got the grey thinking it would be a nice switch-up, and it's really nice but it probably would've looked so much cooler in black.

edit: OH and the sandstone texture is what puts it above many other cases, it feels really great. The black and grey have the sandstone texture and I believe the mint one has a different texture.

u/akashik · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

I'd suggest buying a phone case. I love the look and feel of the 6P but find it pretty damn slippery. I bought this super slim one on Amazon.

Other than that I've been very happy with both the phone and Project Fi.

u/Luomulanren · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

I got the Skinomi full body protector when I first got my 6P. I tried both the clear and matte version and I like the latter MUCH better. The clear version makes the phone look shiny and not in a good way. It makes it look like cheap plastic instead of the nice metal.

Clear: https://www.amazon.com/Huawei-Protector-Skinomi-TechSkin-Coverage/dp/B015X0NAV2

Matte: https://www.amazon.com/Protector-Skinomi-MatteSkin-Anti-Glare-Bubble-Free/dp/B015X0NXH8/

It's fairly simple to do if you get a kit.

I bought this kit and a spare glass replacement. Then, I just followed this Youtube video.

Along with the kit, you'll need some cardstock or playing card, heatgun or hairdryer, razor blade (a straight, flat blade worked best for me - better than the xacto in the vid). It took me less than 30 mins, and it runs like a champ now.

u/invalidated_username · 15 pointsr/Nexus6P

This is hands down my favorite low profile case. Has that nice sandstone finish like one of the OnePlus models had. And it's far more durable than Spigen's thin fit. Buttons are exposed so no worries there. Headphone opening is accommodating to most sizes, but not larger plugs. USB-C is a good cutout too. It covers all four sides instead of leaving the top and bottom exposed, like on the thin fit.

I have the intelliGLASS max coverage .2mm on my 6P. I bought my wife the same one but for her 5X, and it saved her screen already. Easy application, installation videos are available, and I feel it's a great price for the quality

u/nolandy · 25 pointsr/Nexus6P

I'm really surprised nobody has said Xiaomi Piston 3. These are extremely good earbuds, and they're only $20. The volume buttons and play/pause button work perfectly. A lot of audiophiles regard these as the best headphones under $100, and they're both earbuds and only $20.

u/fireJB · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

I have the sennheiser momentum in-ears, and really like them. the mic and controls both work flawlessly. i paid 100 for them and think they are worth it, looks like there is a sale on right now, 63. http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-Momentum-In-Ear-Android-version/dp/B00N3RFFV6?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage

I have used the piston 2.0 with a previous phone and thought they were fantastic for the price.

u/kazame23 · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

The micro USB to USB C adapter might not be up to spec. Here are some that should be safe to use. Usually someone in the reviews will mention if they're safe to use or not. I'd recommend getting at least a USB A to C cable for normal use though. Good luck!

u/DocJ2786 · 0 pointsr/Nexus6P

dbrand skins are amazing. You can barely tell they are even a skin they look like part of the phone. Also, IntelliGLASS HD is an amazing screen protector. They make two sizes. One that fits the maximum space on the screen and another that leaves space for a case.

u/Master-of-my-Domain · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

I have the spigen rugged armor. Its very nice and it has survived falls from my lap. I also have a glass screen protector which is (in Jeremy clarksons voice) explosion proof!! Both of which have held up nicely

u/nebraskapc · 4 pointsr/Nexus6P

I used to use that soft rubberized one made by Google that has the carpety felt material on the back. I liked it a lot, but I wanted something harder because I felt the Google case wasn't going to cut it if I dropped it. I just bought this Verus case a couple weeks ago and absolutely love it.

u/baldthumbtack · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

Sounds like 64GB is the safer option - you never know what you'll start accumulating.

However, just to toss this out there: I have a 32GB, and keep a small music library (for poweramp) plus movies and other videos on a USB-C OTG flash drive. I just plug it in and access it via ES File Explorer. Swap out music, play a movie right from the drive, etc.

I have a separate OTG drive that I use for TWRP backups. I mount the USB storage in TWRP, do a backup, un-mount, done.

If that sounds like an option for you, these are the drives I bought: http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Digital-64GB-Traveler-DTDUO3C/dp/B010HWCFDA

u/whattachoon · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

This is the one I have and I love it. Super slim with protection still and it never feels slippery in my hands.

u/iZyphur · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

I also had the major battery issue of the cold completely draining it in seconds, and since I live in Canada like you, and am outside taking the bus... no bueno. I was thinking about that upgrade too, or waiting for s8, but I ultimately decided to try putting in a new battery. Why not risk $20-$50 to try and fix a phone I'm very happy with, instead of spending $700+? So I got a battery, and new camera lenses visor thing, since opening it was hard as shit and I broke it lmao. My battery is still on its second cycle, so I can't do proper testing yet, but I can tell you it's significantly better, and the cold didn't instantly annihilate it.

I have this one with a Rhinoshield and it fits great. I am very happy with the combo.

u/Throw-aweigh · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

For a car mount I've been using this iOttie mount (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JRGOKQ8). It sticks well to my dash even though my dash is plastic and textured. If you have a large case on your phone like an otterbox it may not fit, but I have a small case and it works great. I've had the mount longer than I've had the 6P.

u/dlerium · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

Not specific for the Nexus 6P but I struggled a lot during my N4 and N5 days with suction mounts, etc and even tried the Air Dock. However one thing about the Air Dock caught my attention and it was the CD player mount.

Since then I've been using the Koomus CD mount for my phone. CDs are seldom used nowadays and the position is better. It's far easier to reach my phone if I need to quickly move the GPS a bit or whatever without having to reach to my dashboard.

With the 6P you just need to make sure it grabs the bottom half of the phone.

u/mujoh · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

In addition to the dbrand skin offering, Skinomi has a nice clear option with their full body skin. It allows for keeping a clean look to the visor. I have both and prefer the Skinomi for the visor.

u/the_god_damn_batman · 8 pointsr/Nexus6P

I've been doing some research as well. It seems like the favorite entry level is the Viewmaster by Mattel. If you want something more higher end, go for the Freefly VR

u/ramsker · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

I absolutely love my supcase. The frosted back is a great way to show off the nexus back without being completely translucent and tacky looking. I've dropped it several times, because I suck, and have yet to drop it. I have the max coverage intelliglass and it works well with the supcase.

u/theparadox1083 · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

Myself and a friend both got them (6P). Both of us had hairline scratches within 2 weeks. We also found the phones were slightly bent (lower right corner) and were shipped replacements for them. I put a glass screen protector on as soon as I opened the new one and so did he.

I don't exactly baby my phone but HE does. He's the guy that keeps his phone naked and gets to sell it two or three years later as "like new" and even he scratched the glass (and a bigger scratch than me!) and in less than two weeks. I'm not saying the glass is bad/poor quality. I'm just saying that it happens sometimes. a speck of dust in your pocket with some carbon in it will do it. Nothing wrong with a little insurance just in case.

u/ApathyCorps · 5 pointsr/Nexus6P

I'm using the iOttie Easy One Touch 2. I've used it on the OPO as well. I like being able to position my phone as a HUD of sorts.

What about this charger from Aukey?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018TGGH4E?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00

I just purchased this charger. I haven't received it yet, so I don't have any personal experience with it. It looks like it has what you are looking for, and the few reviews on Amazon have been good.

u/Serri330 · 4 pointsr/Nexus6P

I looked at this case because I wanted a Sandstone texture, but ended up going with this one, because it also covered the top and bottom :)

u/MattMski · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

Personally I use this one; it supports USB-PD so fast charging works with the Nexus 6P and Pixels. I like coiled cords as well so I can stretch it as long as I need it

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CH9NEM2

u/HaiImBRIAN · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

I was in the market for exactly what you were looking for. I don't care for hardcore protection, just something to protect against scratches and minor scuffs if I do drop the phone.

I'd recommend this one.

https://www.amazon.com/Nexus-Nillkin-Nature-Clear-Huawei/dp/B018JYITBA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1492620564&sr=8-2&keywords=ultra+thin+case+nexus+6p

Note: The clear does turn yellow over time. There are colored versions on the market as well.

u/aryaazar78 · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

You just need a A to C cable for file transfers to a PC, and a C to C cable for charging. You can use pretty much any C to C cable with good reviews, but you need to make sure the A to C cable is compliant. For chargers, some regular chargers may or may not be able to charge the 6P, but slowly. You should get one that can rapid charge at 5V/3A. Here is what I use.

I've used the Xiaomi Pistons 3, SoundPeats QY7 and Jaybird X2's that I stole from my friend for a few weeks with my 6P. Without sound mods like Viper and such, the Pistons kinda sound lackluster. With or without sound mods, the X2s and the SoundPeats are actually pretty decent.

Just don't put on the front. Also, the one over the visor causes glaring in flash pictures unless you remove the pieces between the lens and flash.

u/iWizardB · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

Kingston is the best option. Don't worry about the "write speed is slow" reviews. 6P has USB 2.0 speed to begin with.

u/vfxrishi · 5 pointsr/Nexus6P

I'm assuming you're looking for earbuds and not over-ear or on-ear headphones.

If you're looking for a cheap pair, I'd suggest the Sony Extra Bass earbuds ($35-50 depending on where you buy them from). I'm using these right now. They don't have a volume rocker and the play/pause button is somewhat spongy but you get what you pay for.

If you're looking for a more premium pair, I'd suggest the Sennheiser Momentums ($75-99). I don't own these but I've heard excellent reviews.

u/ainen · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

The Xiaomi Piston III Earphones are my favorite, cheap earphones. They work really well and are quite small.

u/matrix20085 · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

I ended up getting Mattel's View-Master to hold me over till a nicer one comes out. It is a solid made device that just fits the P6 w/o a case. There is no headphone cutout or straps but it is so cheap I wouldn't feel bad about drilling into it. I wrote a small review on it if you want more info.

Edit: Sorry i forgot to mention it does have a QR code and is supported by the cardboard app.

u/SomeRandomMax · 4 pointsr/Nexus6P

The Kingston drive that /u/outbound linked to above is cheaper still, and more versatile, so seems like the best wayto go.

Edit: Or Sandisk has one that is cheaper still.

u/mariorising · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

I've used this case for my Nexus 5x and now my Nexus 6P. I love it and haven't had any issues myself.

I have the Verus high pro shield. Can be found on amazon for like $13. Very minimal and has a beautiful design. I absolutely love how it looks. You can pick the color of the plastic around the sides as well. People have complained about the charging port being too small, but this issue has been fixed according to customer reviews and I can confirm that I have no issues with any of my three different cables.

u/rustid · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

Both of these have worked well for me, my suspension in my car might also be a little softer if you are having issues though. The ball one I used when it was on my dash so the phone didn't rotate but mostly rested, while the cd one holds it just fine floating.

Buy this for your long car ride.

It has single USB-C port and two USB-A ports. Charger's total output is 49.5W so no voltage sag will be experienced. Although it can only charge a 2015 Macbook at only 19.5W instead of 29W which the wall charger can produce.

I bought two Anker two-packs of adaptors to put on my existing micro-USB cables ( https://amzn.com/B01AHKYIRS ). I find that when I plug into the USB-C-to-USB-C cable that came with the phone it says "charging rapidly" when I use the adaptors on a Micro-USB cable on another fast-charger adaptor it just says "charging" and when I plug into my Mac to charge while I'm at work it says "charging slowly" and it's not a lie. It takes all day to charge the phone that way so I gave up on it.
