I use a 400w HPS ($140 on Amazon and 2 of the cheapest Chinese "1000w" grow lights like [this one](https://www.amazon.com/Thermometer-Humidity-Adjustable-Spectrum-Consumption/dp/B07BV3KQMM/ (Link is just an example, I'm not recommending that product) that I can find in my 5x5 tent.

I haven't done any clinical study or anything, but they seem to perform better than the Mars Epistar (IIRC, not 100% sure what model I had. It was 3 years old when it was killed) I had before a direct lightning strike at my house murdered it last year. I'm sure I'm paying a few cents an hour extra as the Chinese lights are likely far less efficient, but for a personal grow tent, they're fine.

If LED tech ever stabilizes, I'll definitely go for a more efficient, expensive light again. But currently, a new $70 chinese light is often about as good as a $700 light was 3 or 4 years ago, so it's not worth it for me in my personal grows as I'll never get a return on my investment before the tech evolves again.

That said, since you're starting from the beginning, I'd take /u/iShatterBladderz's suggestion and get a quantum board from Kingbrite if you have the means to do so. As long as you aren't a moron like I was and include a good surge protector in your setup, it'll likely be a better investment in the long run.

Who is whining? It doesn't bother me personally, but it does others and could cause a backlash from our representatives and voters.

Glad I could help give you a lesson. You could use a little emotional intelligence. Here is a book you really need to read instead of just trying to piss off people. Emotional Intelligence. Why it is more important than IQ

PSA - If you're going to use a padlock (I have kids), get the long shackle padlock. I got this one and it works perfectly. The smaller size doesn't fit.

Looks exactly like the one I got off amazon. It was a name brand (sort of - Cloud 10 - knock off Pelican just like yours), and I paid twice as much.

Good find!

Not in Tulsa so not sure where to find there.
But you can buy cheap honey straws or something like this at a local smoke shop or gas station
https://www.amazon.com/12-Honey-Badger-Straw-2-pack/dp/B07FM7B7HC/ref=mp_s_a_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1549481217&sr=8-11&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=silicone+dab+straw&dpPl=1&dpID=317NgExCbfL&ref=plSrch

You need that and a torch.

Also some concentrates.

Good luck.

Enjoy.

I had issues for years with my tap water being around 500ppm from the tap, always caused weird deficiencies and growth. I bought one of these on Amazon for $50

Aquatic Life RO Buddie Three Stage Reverse Osmosis, 50-Gallon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DOG63OY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_JwCUCb7AP4JMR

Works great, been pulling the ppm down to 10 now for over a year on the original filters, takes about 4 hours to produce 5 gallons. I have mine draining into my laundry drain with the hose ran to a nearby shower to fill buckets up with.

This is weirdly late, but use a smokebuddy.

Just blow all the smoke through it. It's full of activated charcoal. As long as you're not smoking in an overly smelly way, like joints or blunts that keep burning when you're not hitting them, the smell will stay pretty minimal.

Get the air freshener Ozium if you really want to zap the smell in a hurry. It's made especially for covering up smoke odors and works amazingly (despite smelling only so-so). I use it when I need to answer the door or something during a medicating sesh.

I haven't tried any of the brands out there yet. The high prices and dosage discrepancies in the first edibles that came out kinda scared me away from the dispensary stuff.

So I've been making my own to save money and to insure the dosage is correct. It's pretty easy once you do a batch or two.

Here's my recipe:

I do tiny cube doses that I can melt under my tongue or throw into my food.

For a 5mg dose I decarb 6-7 grams of flower and infuse it into 3/4 cup of coconut oil.

Decarb process: Break up buds and put them into a tied off disposable turkey roasting bag or wrap them in foil. Cook sealed bud in 240 degree oven on a sheet tray for 50 minutes.

Infusion process: I put decarbed flower into a mason jar with melted coconut oil and a tablespoon of sunflower lecithin (optional but recommended). Then gently tighten lid onto the jar.

Then I take a medium size cooking pot and put a small washcloth into the bottom (to cushion the jar as it steeps). Then I stand the jar in the pot and fill with water to just above the oil line in the jar.

Then I heat the pot on low heat until the water comes to a very very low simmer. Right when tiny bubbles start to trickle up around the edges of the washcloth.

I keep the water steeping/simmering at this level for 3-4 hours, swirling the contents of the jar every 30 minutes. Water is added to the pot whenever it gets below the level of the oil in the jar.

The last 30 minutes of cooking I cut off the heat and allow the jar to slowly cool in the pot. Then I pour the contents of the jar through a wire kitchen strainer into a glass measuring cup. I use a spatula to squeeze all the oil out of the herb.

Then I pour it into a tray like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Master-Silicone-Micro-Cube-Tray/dp/B078VJXTM6

Tray goes into the freezer for 20 min or so to solidify the oil. Once it's set up I break the cubes out of the tray and store them in a jar in the fridge.

This tray I linked gives me 160 doses with this recipe.

Dosage per cube can be upped by just infusing more herb into the oil. Here's a good dosage calculator that I use: http://www.howtoedibles.com/

This infusion method (when using the turkey bag for decarbing) keeps cooking smell to a minimum so it won't stink up the house or annoy neighbors. The smelliest part of the process is when it is being strained and poured into the tray. It's recommended to wash all dirty dishes as soon as you're done if you're worried about smell issues.

If you have any questions or need clarifications, feel free to ask. :)

I got a filter and holder from RedBud in OKC but it's basically a 1 micron filter like this. A lot faster than RO filter and you get to keep some of the minerals that can be beneficial.

If I had 1 or 2 beginner tips for you it’d be to pop your seeds with rockwool if you decide to grow in coco or soil. Also, if using led’s I’d highly recommend a cob setup over the more common “blurple” led’s. Growing cannabis is a science basically. You’re not gonna learn the entire process of how to grow top shelf cannabis from a reddit thread, but it does come in handy for specifics.

A couple starter lights I’d recommend

Smokebuddy is the best option if you can’t smoke outside!

Seeds pricing depends on strain and breeder. Some dispensaries around her sell seeds so you'll have to call and ask.

Here is a great book to get you started: https://www.amazon.com/dp/193786636X/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_c80ACbWZMBGN4

Is this not an amazon listing for said lights? Please tell me you didn’t pay $1100 a piece for these things? You can build a light that’s twice as efficient for half the price. I could build 2 600 actual watt LED grow lights for under $1000, that would blow away this premade 543w(yes that’s the actual wattage of your light) LED light out of the water.

Also new but am reading this and it has a ton of good info for indoor and outdoor grows. One of the kind people at organics okc directed me to it and so far i have not been overwhelmed by the info Marijuana Horticulture Medical Growers bible by jorge cervantes

I think I know what you are referring to. Growing up I had one that was illustrated. This one has photos. It's a popular book. Birds of Oklahoma Field Guide https://www.amazon.com/dp/1885061331/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ILlGDbEJE22VQ

Most LEDs marketing toward growing list the wattage based on the output equivalent of traditional grow lights. Obviously traditional grow lights put off a lot more heat and are much less efficient. For instance this viparspectra lists 300W but if you read the fine print it only pulls 130W. Mars and most grow lights market this way. I only ask because I am building an LED setup with 300 actual watts.

Looks like the lowest it's been new on amazon was $119 and used was $110. I plan on getting the one shown that includes the controller and another stand-alone which they say will be available at the end of this year.

edit: looks like op is talking about the S6 and we are thinking T6.

u/jenkstom · 1 pointr/OKmarijuana

I think I've finally decided to go with ViparSpectra LEDs. They get good reviews on multiple websites. They also have a model that has adjustable intensity and is programmable. I'm hoping I can have two of those synchronized in a 2x4 grow tent. Not sure if that is the right amount of light, but it seems to be.
