(Part 2) Best products from r/OculusGo

I bought one over the weekend for exactly this and I've had time to watch a couple shows and a movie on it...

I think it's great...I really enjoy the Netflix experience and the movie theater experience you get with the Oculus video thing is really awesome! Like others have said it would have been really cool of them to include an SD card reader but 64 GB (maybe even 32) should be enough to store a few movies on when traveling. If that isn't enough storage you'll soon be able to utilize USB storage so something like this would be pretty nice because it wouldn't weigh the headset down at all.

Long story short I really like it for watching stuff on...You aren't going to have a 4K or really even Blu Ray experience, but if you're content with DVD quality or so (maybe slightly better) image and a large screen I say go for it. I also think it would be cool, especially with the Netflix app, to have a place that feels nice and comfy to watch stuff in regardless of the Hotel you're staying at...sit back on a bed or a couch and kick your feet up, throw on the Go, click Netflix - and you're in this cozy and familiar log cabin with a giant screen and all of your Netflix content.

Additionally - when they get it up and running, either in the Oculus Video app or Big Screen, get your significant other/kids one to leave at home and you guys can watch movies together while you're on the road (or not, that really depends on your persons at home).

My only real cons are the usual stuff with VR...the sweet spot, while bigger, is still smaller than I'd like it to be - especially for reading text, the battery life isn't the best, and the picture - while better than ever - still leaves something to be desired.

Oh, it comes with integrated audio so you don't need headphones, however, for private viewing you can use anything really. Get a nice pair of over-ear headphones so you get that extra oomph since it's like watching a movie in a theatre it's nice to have sound that matches.

If media is what you're excited about then this is going to blow your mind. Even the games are pretty good on this at only 3 dof too.

UPDATE:Turns out somebody did try it, and according to the post by u/VolcanoHoliday , it looks pretty successful after a bit of sewing to add some straps that will fit. Definitely going to try it out once I get my Go; should be a good combo of fashion + function with the digital camo skin I've got on the way :)

Honestly, that's up to you. I started with an anker 20000mah refurbished one I got on Ebay for 20 bucks cheaper than a new one. Though, it was fairly large so I had to get a longer cable and tuck it in my pocket. Plus. It's nice, dont have to recharge it for a few sessions, but like I said, large and cumbersome.

So I wanted something smaller that I could strap to my headset, but still has a decent amount of battery life. This Aibocn 8000mah, I used some industrial velcro and made a spot for it behind the buttons on the go. Lasts for about two lengthy sessions, but it does add a little weight to the go. Not much, but noticable.

So it all really depends on what you want to do with it. I've seen 3d printed clips that clip to the side of the headset strap that hold those cylindrical "lipstick" battery packs as well, though I personally cant attest to how they work, I think it's a great idea.

I can see video podcasts and I'm interested in an answer, but wouldn't bluetooth headphones be better paired with an app on your phone be better for audio podcasts? That's what I do daily while I'm driving, cooking, etc and it's great.

The Moga Pro Power says currently not available, but is is easily the best phone gamepad I have tried.

I find my eyeglasses to be very comfy with my Go. I tried it just now with my larger profile sunglasses and it fit, but it was a little tight. Might not be comfy for more than a few minutes. The Go comes with an insert for eyeglass wearers which I don't need with my low profile glasses, but it may help it work with yours.

When I got my Go, I wasn't totally sure I'd want to keep it, so I bought it at Best Buy since they have such an easy return policy. Maybe you could give it a try knowing you can get your money back if it doesn't fit?

Are you sure you're using a proper OTG adapter, like this or this? And are you sure that the USB cable you're using with the PS3 controller is functional/compatible?

You may very well be right that the DualShock controllers don't work in USB mode, but I'm a little surprised since we had a couple of DualShock 3 success reports for the Gear VR (again, when connected via USB).

You should post this on its own in /r/OculusGo. People clearly are interested in external battery solutions and I think yours is really good. Believe it or not this thread is the most top voted post on /r/OculusGo since ever.

The headset fits nice in the case and there is room for the power, controller, and you could fit the Xbox controller in there also. You can't close the case all the way if you put stuff in the net pocket, so just set it in the lower compartment by the headset.

It's going to be slightly large, but being able to store the power and remote in the side pockets will be nice.
