Thanks so much for the detailed advice!! I should clarify, I meant early fall as a marker of time of year, not weather (late September) - I have family in the South and I know all about the 80-something degree Thanksgivings :P

The things I had in mind were: floral, black, jewel-toned (would get the red or blue). I already own the floral and black items. I don't know if the black dress would be too stuffy?? Re: shoulders - a blazer would probably be too much, right? D:

I doubt very much that it will be a super formal sort of affair, and I don't know whether it will be a church sort of thing or not - for context, invitations have not yet been sent, only save the dates, but I know I'm going - the groom to be is one of my best friends from high school. The bride to be & groom to be are not the same sort of Christian, and also they are bootstrapping this wedding/paying for it all themselves. Obviously, I could be totally wrong, so it's always good to keep the options open as much as possible (thanks for the advice on dressing up/down - that's super helpful! I am usually much better at dressing up than down and I think it's because my skin is sensitive enough that I cannot wear costume jewelry).

For makeup I was definitely thinking red lip (because that's my usual preference anyway haha) and something fairly simple in the eye department - I'll probably be busy sweating it all off anyway :P

Yeah the ingredients for most cosmetics are horrifying when you go thru them.

MUFEs is so full of chemicals and irritants that it could be a number of things (talc, mica, alumina, aluminum and tin oxide, etc) that bothered you. But my guesses are the phenoxyethanol (preservative) and bismuth oxychloride (sometimes disguised as CI 77163 on ingredients lists. Why anyone still puts this in makeup is beyond me)

I’m also thinking there’s a possibility you’re not sensitive to natural ingredients necessarily, but chemical derivatives of them. The beauty and pharmaceutical industries are notorious for using those. Some are good and some are fucking terrible. You might be interested in this site if you’re not already familiar. Database of ingredients, concerns, regulations (or lack there of in the US lol), etc. in cosmetics. Pretty helpful when you have sensitive skin and allergies.

If you’re interested, frankincense oil has been a huge game changer for me. Seriously amazing, miraculous stuff. I’ve used it in a variety of ways, but currently mix it with jojoba oil for a night moisturizer. That and this rose water toner have totally transformed my skin. I used to be extremely oily, acne-prone, and oxidized everything. Drastically different story now. Back story: I was desperate last summer when allergies caused my psoriasis to be out of control and spread to my face and eyelids. A lot of natural remedy experiments and weeks of research later, and it was totally gone from my face. Repeat that process a few times over, and now everything’s gone or manageable. Also miraculous, witch hazel (alcohol free versions) TL;DR frankincense, jojoba, and rose water will save your skin from just about anything. Links to the kinds I currently use are also included.

Sorry if this got very off topic, but I hope at least some of it helps!

EDIT: wtf with the downvotes? sorry for trying to help someone i guess? sensitive skin is a struggle just like being olive - just sayin...

Warm olive, ~NC25

Fave:

Maybelline Color Elixir in Intoxicating Spice and Almond Aura. Spice was on clearance at Ulta and I picked it up on a whim, as most of my mid-tone lipsticks have a matte finish, and I'd been looking for something a little more glossy in that depth (though I usually hate straight up gloss). I loved the formula so much that I went and bought Almond on Amazon almost immediately after trying Spice. They're glossy, but not in-your-face glossy, and the stick factor is minimal. Moreover, they're actively hydrating, and my lips feel smooth and soft when I take them off. The shine lasts about 2 and a half hours, the color for about 4. Spice is a nice "spicy" marsala color, and Almond is a very muted, warm browny rose that sort of resembles Milani's Spice lip liner (my absolute favorite lip liner, and possibly the most muted lip color I own). Overall really happy with these and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for more glossy fall options.

ETA: Almond was LE but is available on Amazon and eBay for cheap.

I'm extremely pale warm NC10 olive and I use Guerlain Terracotta bronzer in 01 clair brunettes. Bless Guerlain for coming out with six shades of bronzer based on warm/cool undertones and skin depth. I've never understood why so many brands treat bronzer like a one-shade-fits-all product.

You could also try some tan blushes like Burberry Earthy 07 or Nars Madly. Nars Multiple in South Beach is great too if you want a sunkissed look, rather than a contour.

I like this one. I’m normally super green and I actually look like a normal human with it. I’m more of a darker medium, but it works on my sister who is light medium.

I think we're quite similiar in skintone, so here's what I use:

  • Aritaum Full Cover - Left Side Only

  • Make Up For Ever Full Cover - #6

  • Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enchancer - SX03

All 3 are decently full coverage, so I thin them out and sometimes double up to spot-conceal.

FAVE: This freaking holographic empty cushion case where my drugstore foundation now lives.

FAVE: Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler. I'm now thoroughly convinced that without some kind of effective lash serum, my lashes will always be short and thin, but damn does this curler really curl my lashes! Sometimes I won't be wearing any makeup at all, and upon catching a glimpse of my face on a reflective surface, I'll see that my lashes are STILL curled from a previous day's round with the Shu.

FLOP: Those silicone jar openers won't open my freaking twist top caramel cookie gelato plastic container. Totally unrelated to makeup, but tendonitis and returning them are the floppiest things on my mind today.
