Hello lovely! You seem to be doing awesome! I mean, they're already pink, you totally know what you're doing. ;)

Okay, so for the chipping so quickly, check out this super crappy video!. I never could find a close up of exactly how to do it on Youtube, so yeah. There's my face. This will help to extend the life of the top coat and thus mani! If it gets on your fingers, no biggie. It comes off in the shower or with acetone. :)

Here's what I use for a base coat, and generally for making my nails long and strong. Bats suggestion is another super common one! This one just happened to work well for me to help with chipping, so I figured kill two birds with one stone. I pair this with (I go through rotations and use what fits my needs...) either seche or this quick dry topper Poshe. Both seem to be nice, but I have noticed Poshe can be easier on the cuticle edges when it dries... Less pull of the coloring perhaps?

This is the set I use for clean up around the cuticle edges right now. The "ideal" is to paint a centimeter or something AWAY from the cuticle, then use the brushes (I dip in pure acetone) to perfectly clean up the line or round it out! The top coat generally should land/start in that blank space, so it's double effective to paint away from the edge initially. :D

Also, it will make a huge difference if you start pushing your cuticles back! I use this metal set because I'm irrationally terrified of getting splinters from the wooden ones. I use a cheap walmart cuticle softner before pushing back, but this is my dream formula since it's so highly recommended. BY pushing them back when you start to see them, it helps clear the nail and thus have less to let the polish stick to! Hurray! You're not supposed to use the scary looking scissor thingies too often, but I do use it on one very specific corner on my left thumb. I have one stupid stubborn cuticle skin flap that refuses to go away without being gently tweezed/cut off. I always make sure to wash with an anti bacterial soap immediately after and like to slather on some delicious cuticle oil LIKE PUMPKIN BANANA BREAD after to give them some softness again!

If you've got any more questions, I WOULD LOVE TO HELP YOUUUUU. <333

  1. My favorite memory from this year was probably my boyfriend's birthday. We don't have a lot of money, but we got to go to the movies, Outback Steakhouse, and got drunk that night and just played video games together. It was really nice because he never gets to do anything for himself and it was just a really fun night.

  2. My favorite memory from a halloween was when I was younger. I can't really remember how old I was, but young enough to still need to be accompanied by parents. Anyways, my parents went all out and got costumes and made masks and dressed up with me and it was amazing. I think it was the only time they actually dressed up with me.

  3. I'm looking forward to hopefully, getting my first job. I'm twenty and I've never had a job, so it's making it difficult to find one, but I'm super excited for when I'll finally get one.

Okay, I'm really bad at making a decision, so I'll link two things from my wishlist, and if I win the contest, it can be a surprise c:

Here are some stickers I would love. I'm a cat fanatic.

Or some polish either one would be absolutely fantasic. :D

Thank you for being amazing and hosting such a cute contest!

Such a great idea, especially for those of us trying to build our collections. I don't own most of these, so I mention it if I do. Here are my favorites:

  1. Red: [Opi Getting Miss Piggy with it](http://www.amazon.com/OPI-Lacquer-Muppets-Collection-Gettin/dp/B0060A2QXI/ref=sr_1_46?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1348757499&sr=1-46& keywords=nail+polish+red) This one seems so beautiful in the pictures online
  2. Orange: Opi Take the Stage
  3. Yellow: Zoya Goldie
  4. Green: Opi Don't Mess with Texas Collection This looks so gorgeous in the online pictures!
  5. Blue:China Glaze Frostbite
  6. Pink: Essie A Cut Above I am really not a pink person, even a little bit. But I like glitter, so I'm going to pick this one. I could maybe see it over a grey or something so it's not too pink for me
  7. White China Glaze Recyle I don't have an opinion about any whites, but I just received this and it's gorgeous. I love it. And grey is a neutral like white, right? Kinda?
  8. Black: Fingerpaints Black Expressionism I have this and it's really black!
  9. Brown: China Glaze Going My Way This looks so shimmery and fall-ish in the reviews I've read
  10. Gold: Essie as Good as gold
  11. Silver: Essie No place like chrome
  12. Glitter: opi muppets collection, Miss Piggy, Fresh Frog of Bel Air, or Gone Gonzo I love glitters so it was hard to pick one! I like that these have multiple sizes/colors of the glitter
  13. BONUS Purple: Zoya Savita

Welcome! And yes, you belong here <3

I love the two manis you did, they are really pretty.

As for good times to have... Bonder is a great base coat. Seche Vite is a great fast drying top coat. Looks like you have brushes, dotting tools and tape already on your list. Other than that just add a few polishes from every color of the rainbow to get an idea of what you like and go from there!

Hey its my cakeday too! YAY cakeday twins! :)

I'll enter your contest too!

This picture is of some lovely tea party cupcakes that won a blue ribbon at the Iowa State Fair. (the second place ribbon was for the cake above it).

Since I don't have a cupcake mani that I've done myself (yet) here's a picture of a cute one I found!

And for an item off my list, I think I'll pick this one because it looks like frosting with rainbow sprinkles. :)

To address all your points:

I have the worst habit of not washing off nail polish remover and I never thought about the effects it could be having on my nails. I'll force this into the front of my mind!

I've heard about the electric toothbrush + shea butter method before so now seems to be the best time to give it a go!

...now realizing it's been forever and a day since I've taken my vitamins.

I've gotten a lot better with picking hangnails ever since I noticed how weak my nails are. It's a blessing and a curse I suppose. I'll keep them nice and trimmed just in case!

I definitely know what you mean about the "against the grain" part, but what does it mean to be filing "from the outside in"? Is it just the direction you file in so it's not against the grain?

I've heard a lot about these orange wood sticks but I have literally no clue what they are lol. I suppose that would be these but what exactly do you do with them? How far back would you push the cuticles?

I've never heard of the Mavala product, I will definitely pick some up this month. It sounds amazing and easy to use!

I feel the exact same way about wearing polish!! My confidence has increased so much since I quit biting but i still feel self-conscious without polish on.

Okay so there's lots of places you can get things, but with some of amazon you might not get things in time so keep your eyes peeled, I'm linking random ones for you. It'd be easier to build your own basket instead of trying to find one. What I would suggest is:

-dotting tools like this

-brushes for art/cleanup like this

-clear stamper/scraper like this

-some stamping plates like this

-liquid latex (so her fingers don't get messy when doing different nail art styles) like this

-makeup sponges (those triangles, for gradients) like this

-striping tape like this

-good base coat (people really like nail envy by OPI and ORLY bonder) OPI ORLY

-good top coat (Seche vite is great) like this

I didn't pay much attention to the prices but a lot of those tools can be purchased fairly cheap, the most expensive things are the polishes and some stamping plates (some are very cheap and can be not so good, some are more expensive but are more likely to work well)

If you need more help let me know!

u/ErrantWhimsy · 3 pointsr/RandomActsOfPolish

You should see it in person, the color underneath is much more matte, so the light shining on the gold looks really cool!

I used this stamper for this one. I had to prime it with acetone for it to actually pick up the design. The plates were from the Winstonia third generation set.

Stamping takes some practice but is suuuuper worth it. I love when people ask if it's jamberry and I get to say nope.

You can stamp directly onto a lint roller to get some practice picking up the full design! Definitely follow the sidebar guide here.

Please share your first attempts with me!

One lemming I really want to try is Poshe Fast Dry Top Coat to see how it compares with Seche Vite.

As for a color I'd really like to try a Nubar like Treasure or a BL but those are pretty expensive so I'm not going to link one.

Yay for having a contest!

22 candles!

Happy Birthday! You said around $5, This is $6 with free shipping, is that ok? I want it a lot so everything else looked less awesome!

u/saac22 · 2 pointsr/RandomActsOfPolish

Green is my absolute faaavoriteee

Honestly I don't even smoke pot but I love these!

Or just this amazing set of green polishes.

u/its_plastic · 2 pointsr/RandomActsOfPolish

Here are some cheap brushes. A stamper and some plates might be nice. And dotting tools.

What kind of polish does she wear? Sparkly, shimmer, creme? I like indie brands but Zoya, Orly, OPI, and China glaze are nice and easily accessible.

u/withdelight · 1 pointr/RandomActsOfPolish

Giftzilla! RAWRRR!! This is my current lemming and t-rex and I bow to your gifting great-ness!

(PS That's a stock photo of the t-rex but I have one for real and he is the best non-polish thing EVAR. Though I am unfortunately too poor to gift you the larger one, given the right information cough I think this miniature cutie would be a good mascot for you...)

u/Zazzlesthe7th · 3 pointsr/RandomActsOfPolish

Since you just asked about Glitter, I have to say my favorite in my collection is OPI Rainbow Connection which is a bit spendy BUT the good news is THIS is exactly the same polish! Whenever I wear it I feel like a friggin' unicorn, and as someone who suffers from depression and anxiety, feeling like a unicorn is the best thing ever!!

u/tibean2992 · 2 pointsr/RandomActsOfPolish

I love these rhinestones, there are green ones in it? Does it count? Thank you so much for doing this!!!!

u/ceairaraptor · 1 pointr/RandomActsOfPolish

22 candles

Happy birthday!! How are you celebrating?

Also, CG Turned Up Turquoise is exactly $5.

u/Musical_life · 1 pointr/RandomActsOfPolish

Welcome! Sparkly, huh?

I have a few suggestions for you!

Edit: I noticed your address isn't linked in your wishlist, please include it. Thank you.

u/toxicfemme · 1 pointr/RandomActsOfPolish

I feel like mine is pretty out of control, in that I only started a nail-specific wishlist about a week ago & it's already 4 pages long. I'm lusting over a whole host of Chanel colours, specifically Graphite & Black Pearl. But also Butter London's Gobsmacked & Tart with a Heart. And, I'm dying to get my hands on some Matte About You.

Realistically, my next purchase will likely be China Glaze's Some Like It Haute and/or Concrete Catwalk.

1/ [Because reasons] (http://www.amazon.com/Kleancolor-Nail-Lacquer-Mini-Collection/dp/B007H4J832/ref=sr_1_1?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1396231958&sr=1-1&keywords=kleancolor+nailpolish+green)

2/ Depends on what I'm in the mood for American candies especially Butterfingers and Reeses are the amazing alternatively here I settle for Cadbury based noms or TIMTAMS ;). If I'm fixing for savoury I do like crackers/ chips, cheeses, chutneys, cheeses.

3/ I wouldn't say I NEED any more nail stuff at this stage, but I am toying with the idea of braving my fear of stamping kits one day!

4/ [OMFG WANT NEED] (http://nailbox.co/nail-art/fowl-play.html)

ooh pretties

Thanks for this ;)

u/Bunnynose7 · 1 pointr/RandomActsOfPolish

I've heard so many rave about [this color] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00185P5VA/ref=aw_wl_ov_dp_1_7?colid=80BRO7PJTLDZ&coliid=IV4IYQO1QAELR&vs=1) and I think it's so pretty! Gimme dat! Lolz. Thanks for hosting Cookie!!

u/SplitEndPicker · 1 pointr/RandomActsOfPolish

I used Essie's "Tie the Knot" as a base and top with OPI's "Rainbow Connection" to do a funfetti mani and it worked great!

u/jojewels92 · 1 pointr/RandomActsOfPolish

I really want this stamping set. You are awesome for doing this contest!

u/strawberrytrash · 2 pointsr/RandomActsOfPolish

I know haha Lorelei is such a beautiful name but soooo hard to spell for some reason. just gotta remember that there are e's where you want there to be a's!

but here's an amazon listing!

u/macaroni06 · 2 pointsr/RandomActsOfPolish

Oh I would love this or some of these!

This gif never gets old for me. SUCK IT AT&T! and thanks for having this :)

u/MaddieClaire344 · 1 pointr/RandomActsOfPolish

This is possibly the cutest indie I've ever seen!

u/MoriSummer · 2 pointsr/RandomActsOfPolish

I've been using Orly Bonder base coat for months. MONTHS now. It's pretty fantastic and my manis last a while. Plus I've had no issues with staining.

For top coat I use Seche Vite. It honestly seems like most people like it but there's also a majority out there who prefer other coats. I tried going the cheap route for quick drying top coats and they all disappointed me. (Never have tried Out The Door though.)

u/Heimarmene · 2 pointsr/RandomActsOfPolish

I've been wanting this sexy polish for a while. Look at that holo. Unf.

You're so sweet to do this!

u/sirynfollyfallen · 1 pointr/RandomActsOfPolish

We've both got CG's Lorelei's Tiara on our lists! Thanks for the contest!

u/epel · 2 pointsr/RandomActsOfPolish

Right now, I've been overusing my China Glaze Flying Dragon. It's soooo pretty.

How about you?

u/rebelontherun · 1 pointr/RandomActsOfPolish

These nail design things look promising. I don't have enough patience to use striping tape for chevron manis.

u/Celladoore · 2 pointsr/RandomActsOfPolish

Started my first day of nail treatment, and tried out an acetone free polish remover. It smelled sooo bad and worked like poop and I hate it :( Does anyone have a recommendation for a gentle polish remover that is acetone free(or just non moisture stripping) that actually works?

Also finally fulfilled my promise and [got some greens] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007H4J832/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1) since I'm indecisive and couldn't decide on one.

u/PixelatedZombies · 2 pointsr/RandomActsOfPolish

Hey, how's your morning going? I've been awake all night so, it doesn't feel like morning to me! Eye candy :D
