THIS IS AWESOME!

I personally use a PS4 controller and LOVE it! They are right AT your 50 dollar limit though :-/

Love to see the spreading of cheer!

If you purchased a PowerLine adapter a long time ago, you probably had a PowerLine adapter with the original HomePlug AV1 specification. In short, AV1 sucked hard, and gave PowerLine adapters a bad rap.

The new PowerLine adapters with the HomePlug AV2 specification are more than capable of providing stability to online games. I use a set of 1000Mbps NETGEAR adapters, and I do not have this issue in any other game, just Rocket League, which leads me to believe that the game sends information too frequently at higher framerates. I don't have any packet loss issues when capped at 60FPS, but because I have a 144Hz monitor it looks very choppy without at least 144FPS.

As for your solution, that's what I used to do when I had a larger bedroom closer to our networking gear. Now I do not; because I've been going to higher ed for the past few years, my sister has taken over my old room, which makes perfect sense since I'm not there most of the year. My new room is too far to pass an Ethernet cable to (and too small for a desktop), so I situate my desktop in our living room and use a PowerLine adapter.

Thank you for the suggestion though! I appreciate the politeness, your English is great for someone who isn't a native speaker.

Fwiw, I got this one a month or so ago and absolutely love it. Granted, I was coming from a 360, not a One controller, but it's really solid and the textured grips are amazing. It feels super solid overall, construction-wise.

Anyone using this keyboard please consider a mechanical keyboard. You can probably test a Black Widow at Best Buy. Now days those keyboards will have "green switches" which are similar to Cherry MX Blues. These are known to be loud switches. There are different switches to accommodate the feel you like. Here is a link to a sampler kit. Off topic, has anyone tried some dampener rings? Do they change the way your keys feel or only affect the sound?

I upgraded my keyboard today, actually. I think the Black Widow is a great starter keyboard. I don't dig lights or anything so I was able to pick it up for $70. It is the one with Cherry MX Blue switches. Sadly my W switch is going out so I ordered the Das Keyboard Model S Ultimate. It has same switches and feels great.

I ordered some replacement switches, a nicer soldering iron than I have, a desolder pump, and some flux. Going to keep it alive for use with my other pc.

If you're doing KBM out of necessity but think you'd be happier playing with a controller, I'd say go controller.

I am 100% on board w/ keyboard but that's because it's how I play games, especially games with driving, unless I absolutely can't for some reason (Super Meatboy was just impossible at some parts for me without a controller, I can play emulators with a keyboard but when you start getting into the Playstation era it gets a bit difficult and less fun).

I choose to not use a controller because I know that A) I will be objectively worse and B) I just like how KBM feels.

It sounds like you might be happier with a controller. I don't know much about the steam controller so I can't really give specific recommendations, but back in the day I bought one of these:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Afterglow-Wired-Controller-SmartTrack-Technology/dp/B00EZKNT18/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1492030420&sr=8-2&keywords=xbox+afterglow

Relatively cheap. This was probably around 2010 and it's still kicking today (admittedly I use mine a lot less than others would).

If you're interested in some of the features that the steam controller can offer via steamplay or whatever its called, I'd say hold out for that.

If you decide to go the keyboard route, mechanical KBs exist for cheaper than what you see on sale from the standard selection RAZER BLACKWIDOW XXX DEATH RGB SLICER TURBOv2 OWNAGE . I use a razer at home and a Rosewill for work, the Razer is nice but it was really indulgent and doesn't add much that the Rosewill doesn't have other than macro keys.

I've also just played on regular old keyboards and they work fine, so barring a mechanism failing (like you've described in your setup) really any keyboard should be about as good as the next.

Well if it's a business purchase then it's understandable. I'm pretty sure you'll be OK for Rocket League and some casual gaming as long as you stick to 1920x1080 resolution, and for the actual work I'm sure you'll find the machine fast enough.

Now... how do I convince my boss to get me this 38" LG ultrawide monitor.... ;)

I saw this keyboard a while back when searching for mechanical keyboards and it seemed pretty nice. Relatively cheap, and fits my preferences for tactile keys. It's on the budget side though. So I was wondering whether I should save up for a more expensive one or go for this? And by the way, thanks again for the in-depth replies. I really appreciate it

You really mean to tell me that for a product that's cheaper than classic Monopoly you can't have a little patience while they support an average of 44,000 players a day connecting across multiple servers to play a beautifully rendered game? You need to step back and check your privilege if you feel like your $20 is worth that much.

Acer aspire e15 575g.

550$ laptop and you can play with high settings comfortably at 720p getting 50-60 fps. If you want constant 60 you can maybe turn off a few settings.

Tldr ; really great laptop would recommend. You can swap out the ssd yourself if you want to increase storage although I remember seeing a 1tb HDD version on eBay.

Well I used to play Ps3 and loved the controllers. When i switched to an xbox one i played 1000hrs of RL and then switched to PC. I kept using xbox controllers because that's what i had and was used to. But the xbox controllers have a weird shape that i never really quite liked. Also I see most ppl and pros use ds4's. So I took the plunge and paid the 50 bucks to get an official ds4 on amazon. In an awesome camo color as well lol. Oh yea the xbox controllers held up pretty well but shit does go wrong and if you have another on hand you can swap parts easily. My right bumper fell off and I just decided to upgrade. The build quality on the ds4 feels really nice.

I'll take a look into that. We just did a test game last night in our living room, but I want to go back to my parents' sometime and play a game in the garage. Something like this would be perfect.

r/buildapc will help you out homie. Make a post over there. :) Also the 144Hz moniter that /u/Melander86 is talking about is this one I believe, it's a great monitor for the price, currently my main monitor with it's 76Hz lil' brother as my second monitor. :)

No experience with the adapter, sorry..... but are you trying to use multiple controllers? Seems like the only reason to spend so much to use a wired controller with an adaptor.

If not I'd recommend returning both and just getting this instead. It's what I've used for years and it's been perfect. And it'd save you a chunk of change.

Hey friend, if you're looking for a cheap reliable printer you might consider an Ender 3. I think, at the moment, that printer will likely give you the best for your buck.

Happy printing!

this one is in my price range (first hit from a google search for radeon r9). Will this work? Mainly I need it to run Rocket League better than my PS4. I've seen on here people saying that PCs run RL better than PS4 so I just want to make sure that happens. More fps or whatever, i dont know. If it doesnt run it better than my ps4, or if it runs it the same, I dont have much reason to get it - I'll just stick with my ps4. thanks for your help

u/piltonpfizerwallace · 1 pointr/RocketLeague

Yeah that's how I felt even at 400 hrs. I was just saying it's not that big of an investment to try it out, and I'm glad I switched. If you're on PC, I've been happy with the pretty inexpensive powerA controllers.

u/Axnalux · 1 pointr/RocketLeague

Yeah I have wireless. At the moment I'm sitting on 4 bars on my connection strength, although it does commonly sit at 3. I only built my PC six months ago, so I doubt it's malware. When I built the PC however I bought quite a cheap wireless network adapter (this one to be exact http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007GMPZ0A?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00). My internet is at around 30 mbps upload and download, with fibre optics which i'm happy with. If I upgraded my adapter do you think that could be the solution?

u/Dlark121 · 1 pointr/RocketLeague

no worries fam just grab one of these and you can play with one hand. you can remap any button fuction anywhere and there are 4 paddles on the back (two on the right) so the only issue might be using the left stick for looking but no one does that anyways. Also chat might be difficult but hey thats what rehab is for.

edit: oh yeah left is for steering but you can use your hand or thumb if its strong enough

u/downhillcarver · 2 pointsr/RocketLeague

Dang. Well, if I have to pony up for an official controller anyway, I may as well go big or go home.

u/Bullet_RL · 1 pointr/RocketLeague

Not an expert in laptops but this might do it here.

u/adisa61 · 1 pointr/RocketLeague

So [This] (https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-Controller-Cable-for-Windows/dp/B01LPNKGGI/ref=sr_1_2?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1496753268&sr=1-2&keywords=xbox+one+wired+controller&refinements=p_72%3A1248885011) is just a controller and a standard micro-usb to charge it? Can I just use my micro-usb cord for charging my phone for it? Also, to use the wireless capabilities I have to shill out an additional $25 to buy a wireless dongle?
