That is the biggest bullshit I have read in quite some time...
This is so full of assumptions and wrong statements that even though some train of thoughts may be correct as a whole it is just ridiculous.
> you see human psychology just works that way
This is a sentence that could come right from a speech of Donald Trump.
> you will play bad when your car is plain and ugly because your brain is constantly thinking about getting better items
This for example is based on the assumptions that a plain car or a car without skins from crates or so must be ugly.
And "your brain is constantly thinking about getting better items". I guess you went to school or are still going to school. Question: Can you focus on what is happening at all or when someone wears a nice piece of clothing is your brain constantly thinking about getting better clothing too?
See how ridiculous that is? Most times people don't even give a fuck when someone wears a nice shirt. You think "Nice shirt" and thats it. But to say you are constantly thinking about this is just so over the top I can't even.
> it just ruins your confidence seeing other people have endo's and white Zombas while you don't even have a very rare wheel,
Next assumption here. Apparently, as soon as someone has something better looking (if you think that. As said in the beginning a skin must not be better looking than a standard skin but well), you turn into a brain dead. Just appreciating that someone has something nice is no possibility right?
> but when you do have those items, your brain isn't processing things like "I wish I had those wheels", it instead uses that energy to concentration on the game
I could just aswell say: If your car is flashy with moving skins you can't focus on the game because your concentration will be on your own car.
But without any source to back that up that is just...
> also when your car looks cool, it boosts your self confidence and makes you feel cooler, which helps us do better because we believe in our self.
Next assumption. If a car looking different in a video game boost your self confidence, you should look into other psychological issues. Again by the way, skins from crates is not the same as better looking.
Also feeling more self confident doesn't mean you perform better. It can also have the opposite effect, being over confident and making impulsive decisions for example.
> That's how human psychology works.
No. I doubt you have ever read any book on psychology. For a start I recommend Atkinson & Hilgard's Introduction to Psychology, costs over 50€ but has over 1000 pages and is easy to read and interesting.
https://www.amazon.de/Atkinson-Hilgards-Introduction-Psychology-Edward/dp/0155050699
Your logic is way too oversimplified.
I could also say: If someone has depression he needs to play Rocket League and get a BMD, because that will boost his self confidence and cure his depression.
That is roughly on the same level as your "theory".
Especially because you state opinions or thoughts as facts. You don't say "they may boost your confidence" or "it could be that" and so on. If you just state
> Okay so skins don't actually speed up your car [...] but they do improve your skill
That is an objective statement. It's not an opinion. And you have nothing to back that up.
You can take them apart by just drilling out the rivets, and I just use spray paint for the base color. You can use some kind of paint stripper (can grab some from your local hardware store or walmart, but something like this) to remove the paint that is on there if you want, but it's not completely necessary, just make sure you do light coats of spray paint so it sticks nicely.
For the details I use paint pens but you could probably use any paint with fine paint brushes.
Then i finish with a glossy enamel clear coat spray, and just be careful not to spray it on too thick or it can make the paint run or bubble up a bit.
Aside from just "how to do it" some tips:
Thanks for the response. Honestly, the only reason I pulled the trigger on buying these items is because I recently lost the breakaway cable that connects my wired 360 controller to the PC and since I've had it for so many years, figured it was time to try the newer [xbox one] controller.
> but are you trying to use multiple controllers? Seems like the only reason to spend so much to use a wired controller with an adaptor.
Very good point actually... I have NO intention on ever buying xbox one (if anything, PS4) so I really wouldn't be utilizing the hardware at all, however, I did buy Steam Link for living room gaming so that is really my only rationale here... On that note, I could go the PS4 route so I'd have a 2nd controller if I ever got the console, but I don't really like their controller design.
> If not I'd recommend returning both and just getting this instead. It's what I've used for years and it's been perfect. And it'd save you a chunk of change.
Awesome! I might just return the items and do this. P.S. - I already have breakaway cable replacement on the way so worst case, I'll be right back to using good ole trusty wired 360 controller... Thanks again for replying, it helped me organize my thoughts :)
First child? So people are going to get a lot of clothes for you. Onesies are where it's at. Anything else is over the top and not really necessary. You probably won't be taking your child out into the world a lot. A Co-sleeper is really convenient for the first few months, you can attach it to the side of your bed so you don't have to do much when the baby wakes up at night. I recommend having at least 6 SwaddleMe's. Baby's love being swaddled until their a few months old. Also recommend 6-8 bottles at a time to minimize dishes. Anglecare bath support is necessary to give baths in. Don't bath them until they're a few weeks to a month old, then try to start giving him baths before bed to get him into a cycle. These are our favorite bibs for later when he starts to drool a lot. Onesies and bibs is where you will catch yourself doing a ton of laundry, so get a lot of them. Babies soil their clothes easy. Oh sorry, the bibs are kinda 4+ months, but for a newborn please don't forget a cap and mittens, they get cold because they can't regulate their arms and legs. Our son was pretty good. He would wake up ever 3 hours, we'd change him, feed him, and he'd go back to sleep. That went on for about a month and then it went to 4-5 hours and slowly he started to just stay up all day (That's where it gets rough). Let me know how it goes! Congrats!
edit: Oh, a vibrating swing is REALLY good for non-cosleeper comfort when you're in the living room or at the computer, etc.
I'm glad more people know about this, I don't use Playstation controllers but the issue is the same with Xbox One controllers as well and a few 360 controllers. I don't play Rocket League either haha, I actually found about the issue when playing GTA V on PC, and I noticed that I could spin faster on a bike after switching from my Xbox One controller to my 360 controller. If anyone has any information on how to edit the settings for the Xbox One controller to make the range higher I'd really appreciate, because my only option is to use other controllers.
Anyways hopefully I can help you guys out a bit who are looking for a better controller, I've bought both of these 360 controllers and I've noticed the range of motion is a lot higher than the PS4/XB1 controllers. For some reason it seems like 3rd party controllers have a higher range of motion.
Xbox 360 Afterglow Controller

Xbox 360 MadCatz Pro
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BQUV4S/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_3?pf_rd_p=1944687602&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B002MX6TEE&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0RN1H5M4W8PA2F5WZX42
The Afterglow Controller I have has a higher range than the Madcatz controller but the Madcatz controller is still pretty high. Also keep in mind I've had the Afterglow for about 5 years now, so I doubt they would have made any design changes to mess with the range but it's always possible.
One more thing, I don't really expect an answer from this but does anyone know anything about this controller? I've been wondering how the range is compared to the original Xbox One controller.

1440p at 144FPS will feel butter smooth. The question is, do you have a monitor that can support it?
The cheapest one I can think of off the top of my head is an Acer, which is 27" and 700 bucks. That's not bad, all things considered. I'm pretty confident the first build I posted could do 1440p at 144 FPS. Honestly, even the second build could probably stay up in the 100-120 range
If you want buttery smooth gameplay, get a 144Hz monitor and the first build, and you're not going to wanna upgrade any time soon. Depending on how far you're going to sit from the monitor, you might want to get a bigger one than the one I linked.
Now, 4k is great and all, but you're not going to be getting much above 60 FPS on a 4K monitor, mainly because they're expensive as hell. TO give you an idea, this monitor is over a thousand bucks and isn't even technically 4k (though the Amazon page claims it is. It isn't).
Personally, though, I prefer ultrawides. They give you a wider field of view, as someone showed in a gif a couple weeks ago on this very sub. That second monitor right there, paired with the second build I listed, would put you under budget (meaning you could upgrade a bit), has the same pixel width as a 4K monitor, though not as much height, and should run at a pretty decent clip. I'm fairly confident that you could get 120 consistently out of it without overclock.
144Hz is beastly, and you can see the difference, but, trust me, moving up from a PS4, 120Hz is going to look amazing. Source: Have PS4, have 120hz monitor, computer looks better.
EDIT: I gotta hit the sack now, but I'll answer any more questionsin the morning. :D
Well this one's kind of an interesting possible case of language change. See, lol started, of course, meaning "laugh out loud". Eventually, though, it's taken on its own status as a general term to indicate something is funny. It no longer necessarily means the person is actually "laughing out loud". One piece of evidence for this includes that it has its own pronunciations (/lɑl/ as in "lawl" or /lol/ as in "lohl" or approximately "Lowell", where the vowel rhymes with "pole") apart from pronouncing the initialism (that is, "ell oh ell"). Another piece of evidence is that it has its own derivations relating to this more general concept, as in doing it for the lulz. Applying the original literal meaning to this idiom would suggest this be read as *doing it for the laugh out louds or *doing it for the laughs out loud or something else that is just essentially nonsensible.
So, how does this apply to lol out loud? Consider the relatively famous case of the evolution of the word "today" from Latin to French. The Latin word for "today" is hodie (similar to hoy in Spanish). hodie is reduced from hoc ("this") + die ("day"). Derived from this, in Old French people thus said hui for "today", which more or less meant "this day". Eventually, though, this wasn't enough, and people eventually came to say au jour de hui, which literally means "on the day of this day". This was reduced to aujourd'hui. Finally, in modern times, some people now apparently colloquially say a jour d'ajourd'hui, or "on the day of on the day of this day". (source, see also Deutscher's Unfolding of Language for more details). So, hopefully you can see a connection: even though lol may in some cases literally mean "laughing out loud", it is not out of the realm of language change for people to eventually start saying lolling out loud unironically, as the original form gets reduced and/or loses its original literal connotation.
The entire totem is 3D-printed. Completely overkill, but I didn't know how to make a semi-transparent car + ball + properly-shaped frame without it. If you happen to have a 3D printer, I'm happy to send you the sources!
At a high level, here are the parts:
How it's assembled:
I'm happy to go into more details – but really I don't know how I would do it without a printer :/
For a laptop to cost that much, you better be getting some good internal parts like a high end graphics card, ex. a GTX 1070 or 1080. Sometimes you're paying extra just for the brand name (Apple, Alienware, Razer, etc.).
You can get a laptop for $800-1000 probably that would crush this game. Anything that's super expensive probably is super high end that would only benefit you if the monitor screen had higher refresh rates to support the increased high fps.
For example here's a laptop that has a GTX 1060 6GB graphics card in it for $950. I have the same graphics card for my desktop tower PC. It can run this game max settings and can deal with my 144hz monitor. You can definitely go lower in terms of power and still run the game at high to medium settings. Try looking for a GTX 970 in a laptop if you want something cheaper that will run the game fine.
So I'll just throw out my two cents on a monitor, it depends on your setup. For RL and twich based FPS games FreeSync and Gsync can be important. FreeSync works with AMD graphics cards and Gsync with Nvidia. The down side of this is Gsync is a hardware chip and makes any monitor with it cost a substantial amount more. Otherwise for a monitor I'd look for the following:
As far as colors go, that's trickier, generally IPS panels look better but it's hard to find one for reasonable price that has a good response time. Here's a Gsync one that's respectable and not crazy expensive: https://www.amazon.com/OMEN-27-HP-Monitor-Aluminum/dp/B0711T4RDF
Best of luck!
I just bought this one and it seems to run it just fine. I have a few things turned off, but it still looks good. It is a pretty good deal for $500, there are quite a few with similar specs that go for $100+ more. If you put a SSD in there with the money saved, it should run even better.
I'd say you have a few options.
While more pricey I have read that both the range and reliability of the signal are head and shoulders above a generic bluetooth adapter.
Best of luck!
P.S. I missed this when reading your post, but /u/Jamaicancoconut is correct. Dualshock 4 works directly with RL without the need for DS4Windwos/Input Mapper/360CE/etc.
this is only $230 dollars and its freesync!
ask me any questions about it I use this for RL, its amazing balls
I got you fam : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PCJLFTF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

comes with the keycap puller too just fyi - I bought an extra because they didn't say the set would come with one lol
What type of graphics card do you have?
Here are two nice AMD Freesync 144Hz 1ms monitor on sale and not on sale.
Apparently it's no longer available so it looks like they are expensive... I would not recommend spending $40 on it... I think MSRP was 15ish when I bought it at Best Buy. You should be able to use a bluetooth adapter if your PC does not have it built in.
Again, here's what I use but I wouldn't buy it for this much.
https://www.amazon.com/Sony-DualShock-4-Wireless-Adaptor-playstation/dp/B01KWLKKQU?th=1
It needs to be plugged in unless you want to buy this, which makes it wireless. However, the wireless adapter also adds input lag.
