If you're interested in this, I would very highly recommend Jet Engines: Fundamentals of Theory, Design and Operation It is surprisingly easy to read while still providing a very technical understanding of every aspect of turbine engine theory. There's no calculus involved and you don't need to know anything about aerodynamics to fully digest this book. Seriously, if you're at all interested in this sort of thing, you will absolutely love this book!

If a picture is worth a thousand words then you just abridged Bruce Hoardley's [Identifying Wood] (https://www.amazon.com/Understanding-Wood-Craftsmans-Guide-Technology/dp/1561583588) I wish more people understood that thin tangential cuts like the one above best illuminate the anatomical cellular structures necessary for accurate wood identification.

I love my brother printer, ink for it is super inexpensive comparatively. I can get 20 cartridges for $15: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MXXH3FF/

I've been posting my photos/GIFs/video on reddit for a few years, and now I have a book (reddit is actually in the acknowledgement section!)

It's a large format book with lots of great photos showcasing all new things cut in half. There's even a part at the beginning where I talk about the 60,000psi waterjet I use to make this happen.

Shameless plug for the book, if you're interested: https://www.amazon.com/Cut-Half-Hidden-Everyday-Objects/dp/1452168628

Now that this book is live I can get posting new videos again :)

We had one shaped like a boob. My son liked the boob toy better then the giraffe. https://www.amazon.com/Vullie-Sophie-Giraffe-Chan-Blue/dp/B002VAHRNK

There a German cookbook from the 80s that also has lots of impressive food photos, some of them cut in half, e.g. https://frankfurterkueche.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/dsc_7156.jpg

It got an award for its photos back then.

Seems to have an English translation as well: http://www.amazon.com/Art-Cooking-Preparing-Presenting-Fine/dp/0895863766/ref=asap_bc?ie=UTF8

I’m pretty sure [this ](KitchenAid KSM150PSER Artisan Tilt-Head Stand Mixer with Pouring Shield, 5-Quart, Empire Red https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00005UP2P/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_5QVdAbWSRD7CX) is the original.

A clone of the city makes up the bulk of the setting of The Carlucci Novels by Richard Paul Russo.

Perdido Street Station by China Mieville is heavily influenced by KWC, but the city in the book (New Crobuzon) isn't an exact copy of the city like in the other novel, just built similarly.

Such an amazing story. If people find this interesting, definitely read Blind Man's Bluff. This novel is written based off countless interviews of former submariners & others involved with US submarine espionage during the Cold War. USS Halibut is discussed in great length in there.

There's an entire book on how this motor happened:

Beast: The Top Secret Ilmor-Penske Race Car That Shocked the World at the 1994 Indy 500 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KBBVQ0G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_N3haBb06KTWX3

The engine is Ilmore, not Mercedes. Mercedes just supplied some funding. Not only was it built to win at Indy, it was built in secercy to the point that the wives of the people working on it couldn't know. Penski went as far as buying a separate building just to hide the work being done. It's a very good read!

This book is a good introduction to the growth of containerization and aimed at a general audience.

There are a lot of recipees available in French on internet (don't know for other language though). You can try to translate French sites page (like this one or this one). As for everything in the world of patisserie, you probably won't get it right the first time. Baking time depends on your oven.

Besides, you will absoluterly need a specific baking pan, such as this one. There are copper and silicone baking pans. Silicone is way easier to use and clean, although it's not as "noble" as copper.

This is it. I got it out the Works for five quid. It's mostly worthless as history, but it does have these interesting cutaways in it.
