> For people and family photos, I love ISO 400 color print film. It's fast enough to let me shoot without flash in any light, and good enough to look good even if I have plenty of light.
>
>Any ISO 400 film will work, and you can get it anywhere that sells film. Fuji Superia 400 is my favorite low-cost ISO 400 film. It sells for about $3 a roll.
>
>Fuji 400H Professional is my favorite — but costs about $8 a roll. I order it online as I always have; good film always has to be ordered.
>
>If you're expecting to be shooting in very dim light, ISO 800 print film doesn't have much more gain than ISO 400, and you'll be much better able to stop motion. It has slightly less vivid colors and a little more grain, but that's much better then a blurry picture if the light is very dim.
>
>
>
> ISO 100 print film is even better if you're outdoors and don't expect to be indoors during the same roll of film, except that ISO 100 print film is usually optimized for nature and landscape photos more than for people photos.

Hahaha, same situation here. Every damn shirt I've looked at recently have all had stupid ass print on them. So many school/company/etc crap out there, so many people give that stuff to thrift stores because no one wants to wear them. My city does this thing where they collect fabrics for recycling. Not totally sure what they reuse it for, but it's a great idea IMO. I'm pretty sure they resell the good stuff and grind up/recycle all the crap. I wish the thrift stores would do this with all the stupid ugly shirts they'll never sell because no one wants them.

However the shirt I'm wearing now is a very nice long sleeve synthetic Nike shirt. I absolutely love the older Nike synthetic fabric shirts which they have apparently stopped making. Instead they now only make it with thinner fabric which I don't understand. The only ones I am able to find are second hand, which I don't really mind since they're super cheap (they would be like $40+ new), the only problem is they're not easy to find. The one I'm wearing now is actually from their golf line and it was from some ritzy company golf outing, so there's a stupid embroidered patch on the arm. Doesn't really bother me though since it's a really nice fucking shirt.

Holy crap, I just found the turtle neck one I have, it's $87 on amazon!. I really hope I can find some more of them at a thrift store.

Metal mesh... that's different... never seen one like that. Is there any stamp or marking on the chair? The color tells me it's from the mid-60s, maybe later, but closer to 1965 if I had to guess.

As for the legs, I'd try a gentle buffing with 0000 (superfine) steel wool. It wil remove the rust without scratching the metal. After that's done, you can try a non-abrasive metal polish to give it a light shine. My favorite is a treated cotton wadding polish called "Nevr Dull." It's been around a long time. Rub the metal down with it, remove the excess polish with a clean cloth, and then gently wash the metal with a damp, soapy sponge and dry it.

Good luck! Nice find!

Great find! Mine was in similar shape when I got it, it’s easy to get it cleaned up, just time consuming. You’re going to want to replace the grease, you can find kits on eBay. I used the non-petroleum grease and it’s been working fantastic. You can often find good cheap accessories on the Facebook marketplace if you’re on Facebook. I found a lady near me selling two bowls and all the accessories for 40 bucks. Make sure whenever you decide to dig into restoring this, you have a bunch of time on your hands. Changing the grease took me a little over two hours. I’m a bit of a perfectionist though 😅 you can also look on YouTube and find fantastic tutorials on how to repaint them. That’s my next project. I just have to pick a color! here’s the link to the grease I used

that is so cool. I don't know how much you use cast iron, but lodge is a great company -- they also sell this awesome and very inexpensive scraper that makes cleaning a properly seasoned pan a real breeze. It even works well on stainless steel pans. I was lucky enough to find 2 cast iron pans recently that appeared (to the untrained eye) to be completely shot. Used the "self cleaning oven" method of restoring them, and love every one of them i've gotten so far :)

The GWO i shop at happens to be right next door to the second richest zip code in my city (which i happen to live in). Today? a pair of emperor 400 aquarium filters and a Breville BJE510XL juicer

also found this nifty little acer h340 server, had all the hard drives in it but was missing the memory.. which i have :)

last week i found about 10 logitech 700n cameras and the power supplies that go with them. both (the camera and power supply) sell for around 50 each.

Oh, finally a Bodum french press as well. Was a pretty good day :)

I have that exact same tent, i bought it in 1998, have only had to buy new stakes, fix a tiny 3 inch mouse hole, (chewed it while it was in storage, basic tent tape fixed it) and redo the water proofing this year. I am not ashamed to say I did pay $225 for it when I bought it and it has made it through a dozen family camping trips with 4 people, 5 years in storage, and now it is my single person Glamping tent! I can fit a king size tall air mattress, a rug, 2 camp chairs, and a small shelving unit in there and its tall enough for most people to stand straight up in to get dressed.

My only suggestions...
dump the plastic stakes and get these instead, they work better in all soil types and in high wind.
Get a big silvered tarp for the roof, maybe some of these clips also. Helps with temp control in the sun!

happy camping! Hope you get as many good years of use out of yours as I have out of mine!

If you're interested enough, you may want to pick up the Special Edition since it includes a lot of content about the creation of the book. But there are like a dozen versions from over the years and the basic book can be purchased even new from as little as like $7.50.

> Also, I think you’re more of a fan of Akira than I could ever be considered.

LOL, that's true of me compared to most people.

I don't know if this would help anyone at all, but when you said 4 for $20 I thought I would share - they make soft foam type mats (so maybe the materials wouldn't work for your purposes) like this for kids play areas. A lot have like puzzle pieces on the inside (like letters, trucks) but not all do...or you could find a way to secure the inside pieces. Maybe not helpful at all, but figured I would share:

Amazon Link to what I am talking about

So you would get 72 6" X 6" squares for $22

Yes, I know. The big houses publish around 30 Big Cookbooks a year but there are small publishing houses that are putting out smaller cookbooks like this one http://www.amazon.com/Four-Twenty-Blackbirds-Pie-Book/dp/1455520519/ref=sr_1_5?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1416611612&sr=1-5&keywords=Brooklyn+cookbook. I've seen them at the Pro Food Shows but for the past year I've been able to pick up some nice books with the proof reader page in them. Either way I love it! My Paris Kitchen just came out in April http://www.amazon.com/My-Paris-Kitchen-Recipes-Stories/dp/1607742675/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1416611794&sr=1-1&keywords=My+Paris+Kitchen+cookbook

$5 on Amazon for a brand new print. This one is framed but definitely ripped on the edges. I think it's pretty easy to fool people into thinking they're getting a good deal when something is relatively cheap. I see a lot of posts on here that are like $5-$10 for something like an old shirt that would likely be something like 50cents to $1 at a Goodwill.

I also know people suck at making deals and are too scared to haggle for certain things. I know people hate lowballers, but that doesn't mean you should never ask for a better price. I've successfully offered half the asking price multiple times for stuff, you can't be afraid to ask.

Oh nice! Definitely the way to go for mens fashion. I rarely see many guys shopping for dress clothes so often have the pick of great finds. Heres the stuff I used on this pair: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000MLBCWM/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1511888141&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=shoe+grease ........ And here is the other method I typically use when working with regular shoe polish. Ive found this to produxe the best results when dealing with used shoes: http://www.theshoesnobblog.com/polish-your-shoes-properly

Dont forget to put it in like a zip lock bag or a space storage bag and leave it in there overnight. It should weaken the smell some and hopefully a couple washes in the laundry will remove fully. If that doesnt work you may wana pick up a specific odor remover for laundry like that. Best of luck hope it works out for you. http://www.amazon.com/ODORZOUT-Laundry-Additive-Powder-Bottle/dp/B002YD7WHU/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1418405399&sr=8-3&keywords=odorzout

(Goodwill) I also got a really nice rocking chair with a rocking footstool to go with it. Super smooth rocking and looks near new. Furniture was half off so I got it for $55

u/CleverNameHere13 · 3 pointsr/ThriftStoreHauls

Found it on Amazon, so it's not old, but $25 is pretty good for a jacket that costs $130. Enjoy!

All non-gaming Roku remotes should be compatible with the 2XS.

A gaming remote is nicer though, because the remote doesn't require line-of-sight and the buttons are easier to press / are more responsive. However, you need to buy a gaming remote specific to the 2XS, as they are not compatible between different model numbers. (Don't bother with the games themselves though... rubbish.)

There's also an official remote app for smartphones.

One annoyance is that you need to supply your credit card number to establish your Roku account.... ostensibly so you're ready to subscribe to pay channels or rent-stream movies from Amazon, Vudu, Red Box, etc. Establishing your Roku account doesn't actually cost anything. When I do subscribe to a pay channel, it's much easier to do it through a web browser and then validate the channel on my Roku box.

When you get the remote, it needs to be paired with your Roku box. Instructions should be on Roku's website.
