A simple solution that is completely under your control is to buy earplugs and put them in your ears when you want to enjoy some silence. You can get a box of 250 pairs for about 30 bucks. I recommend these.

Edit - This applies to anyone suffering with mental shit atm

Have you tried CBT?

While I've not suffered with an eating disorder, I've had POCD (I imagine similar in many aspects) and social anxiety, depression etc. for years, and the big thing that improved my life was CBT.

I know it sounds like self help bullshit, but a book did it, or at least taught me how to apply CBT to my daily life and change the way my mind deals with situations. I dismissed it for a year straight before I finally convinced myself to read it properly and do the exercises thinking 'wtf is a shitty book gonna do? I have problems way bigger than anything a book can solve'.

Anyway, I read and followed the exercises, after a while I realised I'd be applying then without thinking, which changed my life. Not all roses, and not a complete cure, but it's the first step I needed to apply others, like joining a gym, making life goals, working to be a better person. Without that CBT I'd be fucked and I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to do any of it.

It's one of first CBT books and arguably one of the best for explaining it. It's $6. Order that shit today. Like now, fucking order it man, trust me. Getting the book and reading it then following the stuff.. honestly that's the hardest part. Start there, learn a bit of CBT, apply it to your life, then you'll find yourself making the steps needed in other areas. It'll take time, but just fucking do it man, keep pushing.

I know it feels like a book is retarded and not gonna help, but trust me on this. It's not the book, it's learning CBT, and that book and the exercises are the perfect way to learn.

Yeah I think it's still a pretty new thing, I could only find a couple with arginine in that are sold widespread, like this mouthwash and toothpaste (I swear I'm not a Colgate shill, I just did my PhD on this stuff...!)

Living Buddha, Living Christ was an excellent book for those that really struggle with what you mentioned a couple comments up the chain. Hahn is a buddhist that also became a christian and this book describes really well his journey through all that. I highly recommend this one, too.

I don't have a system in my vehicle. It's a brand new vehicle so I don't want to tear it apart and put in new components while everything is under warranty.

At my desk at work I have these: https://www.amazon.com/PreSonus-Hi-Definition-Nearfield-Isolation-Instrument/dp/B0787CBYCX/ref=sr_1_32?keywords=presonus+eris&qid=1563196391&s=gateway&sr=8-32 because I can't get too loud anyway.

At home, I have an old Sansui receiver and speakers I run everything to. The receiver is Vietnam Era my Uncle brought back from the Navy and the speakers are early 80's I think. At home for your big living room stereo, you can't get more bang for your buck than getting nos vintage equipment someone has taken care of or restored.

Most wax is but honestly this shit:

https://www.amazon.com/AINATU-European-Removal-Depilatory-Ingredients/dp/B075Q5ZR2Q/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1521041317&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=depilatory+wax&psc=1

Is great. no papers or anything but it does dry REALLY FAST. the removal is pretty low in pain. you put the beans in a silicone cup (when it dries you can just pop the little remainder out instead of having to melt and scrub something else) you put the cup in a shallow pan with boiling water. make sur eto keep the water hot so the wax doesn't dry.

Use a tongue depressor to pick upabig glob of it, spread it quickly in the direction your hair grows. cover as much space as you can before it dries. wait until fully dry and then pull against the grain.

Follow it up with a soothing after shave product and a rinse.

I can only speak for myself about using them, but it just matters on how you can go on. I took to reading a lot into stoicism and working on CBT. I cant say enough how much this book has helped me but reading (or listening on Audiobook) has really made me want to change my life. Its titled "How to Think Like a Roman Emperor" and goes into everything I have said above.

this is an incredible description of how these ideas take hold of a person's mind, and lead society to destroy itself whilst believing it is doing good. this book humbled me. as alien as chinese culture is to my own, everything she wrote felt intuitive, personal, as if i was there and as if the people around me could and might do the very same. a very, very emotionally touching description of a seminal moment of human history - and possibly a stark warning of where we might be currently headed.

if you are interested in readin about the udnerlying pschological disorder that leads to this phenomenon, I would argue it has been perfectly described by the genius that is karen horney, as I mention here. that book too is incredible; it has really made me a better person and given me a lot more compassion for people's bad behaviour and fuckups (because it could easily have happenened to me too, through accident of birth or situation). there is a pdf floating about of this book, if you are interested.

I suffer like you, so I get it. You know those neoprene back brace/waist belts that some people advertise to “increase your sweat when working out?” They are GREAT. It wraps your whole midsection and traps heat and since your core/torso is warmer, your blood circulates a little better to those lifeless toes and fingers.

You can make them really snug so some movements can be a bit restricted but I’m so grateful for mine.

just an example

I was 25 when my roommate was dating somebody with a kid. Exact same thing with the kid getting up hungry and the parent still sleeping. Also the house was four college kids who came home drunk to a 10 year old sleeping in the living room. Sad. I didn't know anything about kids then (I have two of my own now) and just kind of avoided the situation.

An idea:
