The problem with recommending a tablet is that I can only in good conscience recommend the stuff that isn't very affordable. Buying a tablet is like buying a car; buy cheap and you'll regret it later, because it'll either not be what you need or break down completely. If you're okay with spending around $200, this one is the model I've used for years now, and it's great: http://www.amazon.com/Wacom-Intuos4-Medium-Pen-Tablet/dp/B001TUYTZW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450471682&sr=8-1&keywords=wacom+intuos+4 Still going strong even after all the wear and tear.

Above all, make sure you're really ready to commit if you buy something in this price range. Well, unless you've got a lot of spending money, I guess.

An easy answer for me would be the Gundam franchise (specifically the Universal Century side of Gundam). I wouldn't call it bad per se, but it feels like there's WAY more to bitch about in a lot of the installments than there is positives, like lets go through the first couple Gundam installments made by Yoshiyuki "The Greatest Hack in Anime" Tomino.

[Mobile Suit Gundam] (https://youtu.be/ezx7M22xuBI) (1979)- This series has some really great ideas and characters that are super memorable, but you could cut almost 1/3rd of the episodes from the series and nothing of importance would be lost. It's 43 episodes and in my opinion thats 18 episodes too long, it's chock full of filler mecha of the week episodes that were only there to sell toys. Also, every "romance" in the film is awkward, dated, or underdeveloped. Most of my complaints are fixed by the compilation films that came out in the early 80s, but even then I think you could shave 30 minutes off of each of those films by cutting unnecessary subplots and combining some scenes to make the films flow slightly better. (Despite that, those films are good so I recommend them)

[Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam] (https://youtu.be/lQrDASSYKmw) (1985)- Zeta Gundam could best be described as a darker and edgier version of the original Gundam, if you count dark and edgy as everyone in the series being a massive bitch. Seriously you can't go 3 episodes without people getting into fistfights over petty bullshit and the introduction of Cyber-Newtypes is just an excuse for shitty writing as nothing they do ever makes any sense. Couple that with every woman in the series being written as super needy, a massive asshole, or literally being a traitor who switches sides because she wants the enemy commander's Newtype dick (I wish I was making that up. It's rumored that Tomino was going through a massive break up around the time of it's production and that would explain the wonky writing of every female character in this series). But hey, both [openings] (https://youtu.be/XSycojV_L1A) are really good so that has to count for something right? The series also is too long much like the original series, it's 50 episodes and you can cut it down to 25 easily. The compilation films aren't much better, but I can enjoy them thanks to really updated animation and they have the decency to cutout a lot of the petty bullshit fistfights and ANGST. (But a ton of people like Zeta Gundam so maybe I'm just crazy)

[Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ] (https://youtu.be/Zw-X8DkdZhM) (1986)- It's basically the original Gundam but it's perfect. (A ship is successfully assaulted by kids throwing oranges at the crew) It's also really dumb, but I like dumb.

[Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack's] (https://www.amazon.com/Sociology-Down-Earth-Approach-13th/dp/013420557X/ref=mt_hardcover?_encoding=UTF8&me=) (1988)- This movie is total dogshit. Imagine if Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2 was the only Deathly Hollows movie, because thats exactly what Char's Counterattack is, they took a novel written by Yoshiyuki Tomino and only adapted the second half of it. But it's somehow worse than that, because they basically undid all plot development to the characters of Char Aznable and Amuro Ray and reset them to their original series mindsets (and no, the novel doesn't explain why either) and shafted them in their own film to follow the characters of Hathaway Noa (son of Bright Noa, main ship captain in the original Gundam, Zeta Gundam, and ZZ Gundam) and literal franchise ruiner Quess Paraya who's main goal the entire film is to get some Newtype dick. It also imply's that Char is a literal pedophile with a massive Oedipus complex, because why not. The only good thing about the film is it's [OST] (https://youtu.be/kKCCNMyKNJc) which is great. Despite all those negatives I still do enjoy the film on some level. Also get fucked Star Wars, [Gundam beat you to it] (https://youtu.be/utMDx05llCg).

That being said, I do think there is a lot to like about the Gundam franchise when you get past the rough outer edges.

I guess the moral of the story is Gundam works better as OVA's and films, fuck you, fight me.

It's a bit of a doozy. And a rather lengthy story.

In the early 2000's, DC handed Green Lantern off to author Geoff Johns due to his great work with the Flash's own Rebirth storyline.

Well, there was a storyline in the 90's involving Hal Jordan wherein he became the embodiment of fear itself and perpetrated in one of the many mass kill-offs in DC comics, wiping out the entirety of the Corps. Basically, Geoff Johns was brought on to retcon that whole story and redo the origin story of Hal Jordan and essentially the whole mythos.

So, from 2004 thru 2011, Johns created a brand new mythos for GL, starting with Rebirth and then spinning off into a handful of serials, and being main contributing factors to like, three massive crossover events (Darkest Night in particular is dope since it is intended to sort out most of DC's problems with duplicate heroes, alternate universe versions coexisting, etc. with a zombie plotline of all things). These have all been compiled into three omnibuses, one being here: https://www.amazon.com/Green-Lantern-Geoff-Johns-Omnibus/dp/140125134X/ref=as_li_bk_tl/?tag=combooher05-20&linkId=3046ad5deda65ddd8212b902d15265cd&linkCode=ktl

The reading list here does a good job of laying it out: https://www.comicbookherald.com/reading-dc-comics/green-lantern-reading-order/

However, since 2000's GL is super involved with all of the DC Universe as a whole, there's a ton of crossover and reference to old events (like the Infinite Crisis and so forth), I recommend this YouTube playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9sO35KZL50xC3L0qNSJBhEAR2hEKzvLk

From what I've seen, these videos have helped a lot to fill in tons of info that I, a mostly non-comics reader, was missing in the issues that I've read, and past Rebirth, substituted entirely instead of me seeking out the rest of the reading material. He rambles a bit, but he really cares about the story and is genuinely hyped by what goes down.

But to answer your question, Rebirth is the first serial in a long line of GL stories. Start there and see if you like it.

FUN FACTS FROM MYTH

As always remember that apparently myth can reveal spoilers so take care. Now Pat mentioned root words today once so what better episode to talk about how

NORSE AND GREEK MYTHOLOGY ARE ACTUALLY THE SAME THING: That’s right. From a certain point of view, Kratos is just fighting the same gods all over again. See, practically all European languages share a common root, with Indian languages. This can be seen by comparing languages, finding similarities, and looking at likely/common sound changes. Modern linguistics can do this so well that there are even theoretical reconstructions of this language. As such, people also have noticed similarities between the names of gods in these regions, the fact that they tend to be polytheistic and share the same roles… and people realise that of course these too share a common root in a primal religion we have no actual preserved texts from. It’s actually where my username comes from!

This religion’s chief deity was Dyēus Phter, the Sky Father. In Greek mythology, this is obviously Zeus, and in Norse mythology, this became Tyr, via the Germanic Tiwaz. This leads to theories that Tyr actually used to be the head of the Norse pantheon, before worship of the more popular Odin and Thor pushed him out to a more minor role.

Another important figure was Perkwunos, the Striker. This was most likely a god of thunder and the oak, and incarnates in Norse mythology, of course, as Thor. In Greek mythology, it’s likely that this god was absorbed into Zeus, as the word κεραυνός, related to Zeus as one of his titles IIRC, also descends etymologically from the same root.

Other common threads include the idea of a Chaoskampf that symbolically represented day to day life, and “dragons” who are fought by great heroes (Thor vs Jormungandr, Hercules vs Hydra, etc.)

There is a notable exception amongst the major gods to this rule however. Odin has no apparent attestation in other Proto-Indo-European religions, at least not linguistically as a god. He seems to stand alone. However, he does have an etymological history. Odin’s name comes from the PIE word of inspiration as far as we can see, and as such is possibly the deification of inspiration, prophecy and magic itself. This is very unique amongst Proto-Indo-European pantheon heads.

NORNIR: Speaking of comparative mythology, these are the Norse equivalent of the Greek Fates, likely also from a common source in PIE religion. They are goddesses that control the destiny of not only men, but the gods themselves, and three Jotunn (Urdr, Verdandy and Skuld) are the most important of them, and live in a well beneath the roots of Yggdrasil. In Norse mythology, fate plays an impossibly important role. No man, Jotunnor god can avoid their fate, and all roads lead inevitably to Ragnarok. There are lesser Norns, however, ruling over less important things.

GROA: I know a Jotunn from the Eddas by the name of Groa. She is legitimately a volva, a seeress, and a practitionar of Seidr, and thus it would make sense for her to see visions of the future. However... I don't remember anything in the story about Odin killing her for a book of prophecy. Unless someone can correct me on this, this seems to be something the game made up for its own story.

Groa is known for trying to work a healing spell on Thor after his fight with Hrungnir, yet as she worked Thor told her tales of his deeds. He told her a story of how he saved her husband's life, turning his frostbitten toe into the morning star. This caused Groa to get flustered, and she screwed up her spell a little bit, leaving stones in Thor's head forever.

There aren't any real free resources where you can learn about PIE that are reliable, as it's obscure outside of academia unfortunately. But if you're willing to shell out 60 bucks, this book is a pretty good introduction. As always, if you're interested in Norse myth I recommend checking out Jackson Crawford's YouTube channel.

If you guys are interested, the first Vol. of the Power Rangers comics is on Amazon. Here

I've only read this and not to where this character is revealed but if you're even remotely interested I highly recommend picking this up and giving it a go. It's an excellent comic and it doesn't seem to be slowing down at all.

I emulated P3 and P4 on my PC but decided this wasn't enough and wanted to support the developers. So I ordered a Playstation TV (Liam TV) and P4G (along with Freedom Wars since Liam and Pat said it was great). I'll probably also get P3P. I'm pretty hype because it should arrive tomorrow.

Amazon and Gamestop are having pretty decent deals on Playstation TV's right now ($80 for a normal one or $100 for one with a dualshock 3 and the lego movie game). Amazon Link: http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-TV-DualShock-3-Bundle-vita/dp/B00KVMHVQ8/ (this is the bundle I bought.)

Also Chie 5 Ever..

I have a bunch of the World of Nintendo Mario toys that I bought to make my younger self happy. I wanted Mario toys so much when I was a kid, but they didn't really exist. Now I find a new one almost ever time I go to Walmart.

I also have the original release of the Link to the Past comic by Shotaro Ishinomori that I really loved. It was so cool to find that back in the day.

Oh, and the Kirby Nendoroid is a lot of fun. I still need to get the Robobot mech to go with him.

u/Atomic_Maw · 6 pointsr/TwoBestFriendsPlay

Yeah it's definitely the reason why it takes so long, but they also still do a lot of side work. Like I've heard that they also do some spec work for The Tick bc their mentor, Ben Edlund, is actually the creator of that superhero lampooning series as well.

Along with that, I think one of them, Doc I think, plays in a band and is a pretty renowned painter. And the other, Jackson, does a ton of voice work for other Adult Swim shows and podcasts.

As an aside: if you haven't already, I'd recommend checking out the long overdue art book for the series up to this recent season that came out last year. It literally breaks down their thoughts episode by episode, season by season how they came up with their ideas for the series, what they were thinking at the time of writing, what character plot threads they thought of using, which ones they scrapped, etc. And TONS of pre and post production art work. Totally worth every penny for fans of the show.

I rented it from Gamefly and kept it. They were supposed to send me the game case only but instead I got the collectors edition. There are some on Amazon last time I checked for around $50. Even if I did keep the game for a month, it basically payed for itself and I still saved tons of money.

As for quality though, I wouldn't say it is worth the $100. You get a guide for the game up to only lvl 35 which is only useful for your first playthrough and a soundtrack I haven't listened to yet. The art is like the first 5 pages of the guide and doesn't have much interesting stuff or even monster designs and only shows some original designs of main characters.

https://www.amazon.com/Z-Skateboarding-Tony-Hawks-ebook/dp/B07NRXJX9Z

amazon listed the wrong one as the author below

>For more than twenty years, Tony Hawks has been mistaken for Tony Hawk, the American skateboarder. Even though it is abundantly clear on his website that he is an English comedian and author, people still write to him asking the best way to do a kickflip or land a melon.

>More about the author Tony Hawk is the most famous and influential skateboarder of all time. In the 1980s and 1990s, he was intrumental in skateboarding’s transformation from fringe pursuit to respected sport. He is the founder, President, and CEO of Tony Hawk, Inc., which he continues to develop and grow. He is also the founder of the Tony Hawk Foundation, which works to create skateparks and empower youth in low-income communities.

I really liked Batman:Hush. It has a "who done it" mystery feel, and it showcases a ton of Batman characters.

Matt Fraction's Hawkeye. This one is kind of hate it or love it, but I recommend giving it a shot. It's not exactly "a complete story" like you asked, each volume is a collection of shorter stories though . It's a very different take on a hero with no powers, on a world of supermen

Green Lantern Corps : Recharge I liked this one because the famous Green Lanterns aren't the main focus, but the Corps in general through the eyes of new recruits.

If you don't mind non-superhero comics, I also recomend looking into:

I Kill Giants. Can't say too much for this without spoilers, it's a very artistic heartwarming story

Seconds. A more fairy tale style story about a girl who gets the ability to magically correct mistakes she made in the past

Solanin. A coming of age story about a girl who decides to quit her job because she's not happy with her life

I've been on a search for a better laptop to replace the one I have the last two days, and this was the best all-around one I found so far, and I'm wondering if anyone here had any serious problems/complaints about it that I should know before purchasing it.

Any help would be appreciated in this.

u/RevenTheLight · 10 pointsr/TwoBestFriendsPlay

Here is a trailer. It was leaked a couple of days back, the official upload will be coming soon I assume.

So the news are still coming in, but in Darksiders 2 The Crucible was a 100 fight non-stop arena, so something similar is expected. I heard of new weapons but I'm not a 100% if this one will be here or in the next one.

There will also be another DLC coming in the future, called "Keepers of the Void" which adds a new region (the space between warp points, like in Darksiders 1), new armors and potentially NG+ (Abyssal Armor, which was a NG+ item in Darksiders 1 was promised). Darksiders HYPE! Please support the franchise!

Side note, this one is just for me gush. I don't have money for this right now, but maaaaaaaaan.

...I am just... I'm so excited guys. This is mine and I love that it's alive and kicking so much.

u/MrSups · 3 pointsr/TwoBestFriendsPlay

This is what I got.

Again, I got it with money from graduation gifts, and It still cost me a pretty penny.

But if you're just trying to branch out? I had an older version of this.

There are better options than that, I would explore them. If you're in the market for a new laptop or something, the MicroSoft Surface works pretty well as a travel computer and can be used as drawing tablet.

u/TheMadDemoknight · 2 pointsr/TwoBestFriendsPlay

It all depends; if you like adventure, action, and dry british wit with characters from Hasbro's bottom list ala Guardians of the Galaxy, you'd be right at home with More than Meets the Eye/Lost Light. If you like the general action, drama, science, and scale from you'd come to expect from them and a dash of Marvel's Avengers, Robots in Disguise/The Transformers/Optimus Prime are for you. Plus Unicron ties into the latter MUCH better with More than Meets the Eye being it's own thing.
