Alright, I'm gonna try to answer all of your questions to the best of my ability. So if I'm wrong, someone correct me.

  1. The only thing you really need to fix are the belts. They go for around 10-20 depending on where you buy from. They break around 200-400 miles of riding so it's not that expensive. Links for some examples are listed below

    https://www.amazon.com/Boosted-Board-Belts-Factory-Quality/dp/B07L3DP6SM/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=boosted+belts&qid=1554994183&s=gateway&sr=8-4

    https://boostedboards.com/accessories/motor-belt-service-kit

The one on boosted's site is a little more expensive but they also come with some extra screws for the motor caps and a hex key. If say a motor breaks or your battery starts to malfunction, you can email boosted support, and they'll usually repair it for you and send it back in a reasonable amount of time for free.

  2. You will get around at least 11-13 miles. It also would depend on what board you get and the amount of power your board supplies.

  3. If you don't ride it in the rain, a few puddles won't damage the board. I wouldn't suggest washing it with water, but using wet towels to wipe it down won't affect the board.

  4. I have had a V2 board for 2 years and aside from a few scratches, the board doesn't appear to be rusting.

  5. Ok, so this is completely up to you. If you want to get at least 13km of range, I would suggest getting the mini x, plus, or stealth. While the If you want a more relaxed ride with a lot of flat roads, I would go for the stealth or plus. If your commute consists of tight turns and you like to carve a lot, get the mini x.

  6. The app allows you to track the total number of miles and allows you to be able to record your trips. You can also change the speed of your board on your phone or your remote and the app actually calculates how far you'll be able to travel according to your height and weight.

  7. No

Overall, like u/stubrauer said, if you buy cheap boards, it won't be great and it won't last long. My board has been immensely helpful for my commutes and is really an impressive piece of technology. They focus really on quality and making it a long-lasting product. Do not buy another cheap knock off. Save up money and go for a boosted board. You won't be disappointed.

For a long time, I preferred the wind in my hair, freedom of less equipment to tote around, and thought I could handle any situation (overconfidence) without major physical damage. This goes back decades, long before esk8, but since purchasing my first Boosted board, rode over 1k miles without a helmet until I took a fall that was unavoidable and (among other injuries) included bouncing my eyebrow and jaw off the pavement. Long story short, I now appreciate proper protection, but value light weight, comfort, breath-ability, slim profile, and reasonable price. I bought the helmet below and couldn't more highly recommend. The adjustable visor can be removed, but I ended up putting it back on. It helps perfectly hold a powerful headlamp in place and sometimes useful in blocking high beams pointed in your direction (if you have ever used a baseball cap to do the same, you know what I'm talk'n about). I actually liked the original paint job/styling, but know a buddy with equipment, so had it powder-coated with this pretty sweet charcoal color with reflective properties.

I'm really confused with this comment... I got the same skate tool with my stealth and my Mini X. It has the hex key (the stick), the L shaped smaller hex key, and the third (larger) piece that the stick is housed in. The larger piece has 2 hex sockets, one on each end... and it fits the wheel nut perfectly. THe larger (other) side of it fits the kingpin nut perfectly. The little L shaped hex key fits the brackets for wheel cover's 2 screws.

The setup was identical on both boards. It comes with everything you need to change the wheels and the belts. The stealth even came with spare belts, though my Mini X did not. Hit me up if you have questions brother, you should be good to go for changing out the wheels.

Also:

If you want to buy the same exact tool that they advertise the process with on their videos:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000RUBY1C/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Grab the 3mm and 4mm version and also one of these:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072LY5824/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The quality on all of those is fantastic. Lastly, I highly recommend a bit of Frog Lube paste for your pivot cup and bushings, just a very thin coat will lubricate your trucks for buttery smooth turns, and it smells like wintergreen lifesavers. :)

Yes, I know what Froglube was made for, it also happens to be a perfect product for skate applications LOL. Active duty Marine, had a lot in stock and needed a basic lubricant for those pivot cups. It was like the stuff was made for this!

This is NeverWet:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KRHF8E4?pf_rd_p=d1f45e03-8b73-4c9a-9beb-4819111bef9a&pf_rd_r=WT9QFP6MHG1QQMKSKKCM&th=1

Another option is made by Scotchgard:

https://www.amazon.com/Scotchgard-Heavy-Water-Shield-13-Ounce/dp/B01M5BI455/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1537155943&sr=8-5&keywords=scotchguard%2Bfabric%2Band%2Bupholstery%2Bprotector&th=1

Both are silicone based products -- the bag has an application of a similar type of product already, but all of these types of waterproofing sprays will require periodic re-application to maintain effectiveness. I prefer the Scotchgard product only because I think it is easier to apply, but there are a number of different products that would probably do a good job. As always, follow the directions on the can/bottle and you shouldn't run into problems.

No spray will make the bag completely waterproof so it's listed as water-resistant. The zippers (and to a lesser extent the seams) are the most vulnerable points of entry on a bag like this -- it sounds like you have already tested it somewhat -- I just wouldn't let it get completely soaked since it's not constructed to be a dry bag and the contents inside will get wet eventually.

ps. Also not sure I’d advocate this method of locking up the board but I guess it depends on where and when you’re doing this — you are the best judge of that so if it’s something you feel comfortable with then good on ya!

u/jareyno · 1 pointr/boostedboards

Thanks for the tip man. This is a little heavy weight-wise though power wise it's awesome.

Someone on these forums deduced that the capacity of the Rev battery(boosted doesn't list it on the website) is around 370wh, so the 500 wh capacity would be great but I need something smaller and lighter for my commute.

I found this, which is apparently 116wh capacity. If I divide 116/370 I get around 30% charge which would be ideal because I only need a little bit extra.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SPBR5YH/ref=psdc_7073960011_t1_B07F119R6P?th=1

It's much lighter and easier to carry and I'm hoping something like this would give me that small, extra boost.

Pun intended.

Awesome video, love the multiple shots/angles. How many cameras did you bring?!?! lol

Regarding the crash, I'm not as big of an advocate for pads as I should be considering I sometimes ride with the same outfit (shorts, short sleeve tee) but I ALWAYS wear full fingered gloves. I'm a dev so if anything happens to my hands or they get scraped up too much to type I'm kinda f**** lol. I wear these (http://amzn.com/B00NIQR1PK) tactical gloves because they breath really well in the 50-70 degree weather here. I'll probably be getting more pads for my knees and elbows too for when I ride with shorts and short sleeve. I'd recommend buying a new helmet as well if it looks like its been deeply impacted just to make sure it holds up in the future.

u/SpeedySid · 1 pointr/boostedboards

I used to have these issues when inline speedskating and walkers taking up the entire bike path... Then I got on of these https://www.amazon.com/Shoreline-Marine-Air-Horn-1-4/dp/B01NCSJGGC that fit in my palm with ease. A simple blast was sufficient to get them to jump rather quickly out of the way. If they get in your face, it's pretty easy to just toot it again saying "what's that, I can't hear you!" ;*)

Also I got pretty good at mimicking a police siren with my voice which also clears the path pretty well.

Here's what I have-

Backpack: https://www.dakine.com/en-us/bags/backpacks/street-backpacks/mission-25l-backpack-17w/

Helmet: https://triple8.com/product/the-certified-sweatsaver/?category_name=skate

Shoes: https://www.vans.com/shop/suede-canvas-old-skool#hero=0

Pads: https://triple8.com/product/saver-series-3-pack-box/?category_name=skate

I only used all of the pads for about the first week or so, but I still wear the wrist guards-they've prevented serious injuries!

Board light (tail of the board): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015IEJ0GC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Board light #2 (front of the board): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015IFA03I/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Front Backpack light (goes on my backpack strap, or hooked to my jacket on my forward facing shoulder): https://www.olightstore.com/h1r-cool-white.html

Back Backpack light (goes around my backpack): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N1SM2NQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The board lights aren't super bright, they're mostly so people can see what I'm riding. The O light makes riding at night very safe, and my back light has great visibility.

As for tools, I carry my skate tool and a couple of hexes, and some spare belts. I have a charger I leave in my office and one in my backpack all the time.

Hope this helps!

I love this one ...

T-REIGN Outdoor XD Retractable... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005JI7UJM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

It's not up your sleeve ... But I prefer it on my belt..

I like that if I bust my ass and simply let go of the remote it's snaps back to my waist..

I also like the idea that I'm never going to lay my remote down and forget about it...

And when I fall I can simply let go of the remote and use my hands to protect myself rather than trying to protect what's in my hands..

Try to apply this product on the screw which tight the motor mount to the truck. based on what the boosted customer service said, those screws were designed to hold motor mount to the truck, temporarily while the epoxy completely dry. But, thread locker and screw hold motor mount really well. It has been almost 4months after I apply thread locker. and it still holds with any problem. but send them back to boosted before ur warranty ends just for check up, which i ll do pretty soon:)

Make sure to leave ur board for 24hours after u apply thread locker. make sure do not touch or ride for 24hours!!

What's up guys!
Still trying to find something better, battery-wise, but overall I like the aesthetic of it. Here's what I bought:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B013FZHD1K/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I attached the battery pack on the side of the Boosted battery with gorilla tape (duct tape) and used hot glue around the board to stick the lights. Here's a pic of the back of the board.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0EaUVYwJYZESVF6cnJIM3lzWEE/view?usp=sharing

If you have any suggestions about it, let me know. I'd like some feedback

u/RJBligh · 1 pointr/boostedboards

I bought a rifle case to travel with. I thought it would offer more protection than the box or a board bag. This is the one I got:
Plano All Weather Tactical Gun Case, 42-Inch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E2217I6/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apip_45jEn9AEXWpbd

It's almost perfectly sized; you need to take out the bottom layer of foam but it still fits and feels well protected.

Regarding cost, I was lucky that bags were included in my ticket cost. However I definitely see how it would suck if you had to pay an extra baggage charge.

u/st0len44 · 1 pointr/boostedboards

I personally have the Amazon Basics version and its awesome.

Consensus from other users that bought both is that the Amazon Basics one is better quality.

If you're having a motor simply, stop running sometimes, try deoxit. I'll add a link in a minute

That fixed my issue, it's 15 bucks and it's good to have anyway. If it's still not working then I guess you'll have to send to boosted:/

Edit: CAIG Laboratories D100L-2DB Electric Cleaner https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002BBVN2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_cL7LDb0M6DDRF

This stuff really helps with bad electrical connections, if it's just one motor. It very well could be an issue with the Esc though. Good luck

I live in NYC with bunch of reckless drivers. So I got a full face helmet.

and these fairly priced knee, elbow and wrist guards

For gloves, I got this as I will not be wearing the wrist guard because I'm more of a commuter than a fun rider so I need my hands fully functional at all times.

And finally, these reflective vest for the night zombies.

I've made a couple comments in the past that you can check out for gear recommendations:
https://old.reddit.com/r/boostedboards/comments/993v45/mini_x_arriving_today_commuter_gear/e4l7smn/

https://old.reddit.com/r/boostedboards/comments/8vx25x/about_to_pull_the_trigger_on_a_mini_x_what_gear/e1r37d6/

I've also found this long list, but it contains some products I wouldn't recommend purchasing, so use cautiously.

Regarding a rack, simply purchase a cheap guitar stand. They do an excellent job at holding a board while not in use.

Regarding bash guards, Flatland 3D is by far the best option.

Regarding water, avoid it like the plague. If the Boosted Board has an enemy, that enemy is moisture. Even a small amount of moisture is enough to gum up the bearings and ruin motors. I used to keep my board in the bathroom and even though I always kept the window open, the humidity from showering caused one of the motors to go bad. Plus, riding on wet pavement is a great way to fall off your board. The pavement becomes slicker than ice.

u/phototristan · 2 pointsr/boostedboards

Be sure to clean the screw threads first with acetone. This will remove any old Loctite or dirt so that the new Loctite will adhere. Use Blue Loctite: http://amzn.to/2xpsbl6 but only a small amount, don't over do it.
