Yeah on our old TV we couldn't get any good reflection from anywhere it seemed like. We moved into a new house that's a story and a half type design and so the room where this TV was was in an area with more of an open floorplan so there's nothing really to reflect off of.

So I had bought an IR blaster that I fished through the wall and bought an IR shield cover. And more or less just stuck the IR blaster directly on top of the IR receiver on the old TV.

From there I used the 2nd IR port on the harmony hub.

Ah gees, that is disheartening. For what it's worth, these are the exact cables I'm using.

Also, since I have an older receiver, I'm only using it for audio. So my setup is as such:

HDMI cable from Apple TV 4K to Sony 950g HDMI 1 port.

HDMI cable from Sony 950g HDMI 3 (eARC) port to Onkyo eArc HDMI Out.

it's strange because I'm using the onkyo's HDMI OUT port, but that's what it says to use (that's the port labeled eARC), and it works great so far.

Since I set all the Sony HDMI ports to Enhanced, I haven't had a blackout since. I'm still crossing my fingers though, it's too early to tell.

Hey OP, I had the same problem as you and found a nice plug that turns it off for me when it detects standby mode.

Works perfectly with my sony bravia. If it detects standby after 2min it will power it off. Turns back on with the remote power button.

I have the 25 foot model of this cable for my X900F, and it handles 4K HDR @ 60FPS from my PC in RGB and 4:4:4 perfectly, with no artifacting whatsoever.

It even does 1440P @ 144Hz from my X900F as well.

Just a mini one like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00XU1GHO4/ works well enough although if you have a large room you may need a more directional one.

And the same Amazon app runs fine on every other legitimate platform. The Sony hardware+bloatware is an unforgivable abomination. It's like complaining the Amazon app doesn't work well on a SpeakNSpell.

I have not received the cable in the link, a few sources indicated it will not work so I bought a different one that arrived sooner. Installed this yesterday. Works great and solves my problem. The receiver was able to be hidden on the underside of a shelf on the tv stand and the small IR blaster is un-noticeably stuck on the IR receiver of the TV. I have not noticed any lag from the set up.

The only thing I will say is if you use a USB port on the TV then you will still need to "shoot" the on command over the power bar since it receives no power when the TV is off. Can be easily fixed by using the included power adapter instead.

So first off - thank you so much for all of your hard work. I have a x900f 55 inch and a EVGA 2070 super. The problem I am having when experimenting with custom resolutions is that if I input a resolution that the TV doesn't like - it black screens and does not bounce back after then 15 second timer. After that I have to go through hell trying to get the TV to output video from my computer via "low resolution" safe mode and multiple reboots. Does anyone know how I can keep this from happening? I can output 4k @ 60hz no problem, so I'm pretty sure my cables and splitter are ok. This is the splitter I use

This is the one you are talking about, same seller I think? I was thinking of just pulling the trigger on that one and even if it's bad I got the 90 day and I can return it. It also seems like I can get a 4 year protection plan through Amazon with that too. Thanks so much for your reply.

I've got my cable modem, wifi router, NAS, and a 4 port switch along with all my "entertainment" stuff (TV, TiVo, Roku, UHD BluRay player) on this, but this is all I need if I just wanted to protect the "entertainment" stuff. You can go even smaller if it's just a few things. You won't get a long run time, but it's mostly to avoid surges, brownouts, and rapid powercycles.

I ordered three of those because I felt the connection in the back was too tight because the area where the ports are is curved and was afraid it would stress and damage the ports over time. They work perfectly and keep the cables totally secure.
