> but with gas, one doesn't have to faff about getting the coals lit

Or get one of these which makes lighting it piss easy.

> In fact, a good gas BBQ gives as good flavour as a charcoal unit

Bollocks it does. In my highly extensive BBQ eating experience it does not even come close.

If you're learning C and not C++ I highly recommend picking up The C Programming Language. It's a fantastic introduction to C and unmanaged languages but you do already need to know how to program to get the best out of it.

One of these - Osma Bloc - Alum Block 75g (Soothes Shaving Irritation) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004NEHR28/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_C0h0xb6S33D2B. Lasts a long time, helps seal shaving cuts, hurts like a mother when using it, but is magical!

Side note - Pitrok sell a natural deodorant which is just an alum block. You need to use it whilst still wet from a shower etc, and when it works is amazing. Unfortunately it fails quite regularly, so I now use their spray - a very natural deodorant without various 'harmful' additives, and the best I have ever had!

I got a dash cam from Amazon for £60 that was recommended here on Reddit. Saved my bacon 3 weeks ago, somebody just straight up turned out from a side street into me on the main road and then said she thought it was my fault. I said no way, I have a dash cam to prove it - thankfully she's paid up and didn't want to go through insurance but it could have been very different if I didn't have the dash cam!

It's one that can hide behind your rearview mirror so it doesn't distract you whilst driving - I actually leave it plugged in 24/7 because I'm too lazy in the morning to sort it out. It's great.

I have a bag of these and I'm pretty sure at least one of those conversations would have me in stitches :)

You want a tea ball infuser. It's basically like a mesh teabag.

The leaves won't swim as freely as in a teapot, and a mug won't keep the heat as much, but a tea ball infuser is probably the next best thing. Cover the mug with a saucer.

To save you from the masses, I have this wallet: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lichfield-Leather-Gents-Wallet-2032/dp/B00122O3BW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1451913251&sr=8-1&keywords=1642+lichfield+wallet and it's all around pretty solid. Had it for a few years and still looks great with no rips and tears, and even though the picture is deceiving on the page nothing actually pokes over the top.

They call it the UK's fastest ISP router, which is probably true tbh. The BT hub 6 is actually pretty good.

Not as good as my sacrificial altar router though.

My point was that there are plenty of people who are thinking about what we'd transition to. For instance Gar Alperovitz's Pluralist Commonwealth, or the transition towns movement, or the various organisations, peer reviewed journals, and books researching and promoting co-operatives. And there are thousands more authors, thinkers, activists, and professionals doing the same thing. Brand's strength is in highlighting the problems and sharing that with a wide audience. In his book he does tackle what would come next (in broad strokes) but that's not his role. For that try A. Sen, Andrew Jackson, and Proudhon etc.; lessons learned from the Paris Commune and the Spanish Revolution (and Greece now); and experiences of people today setting up credit unions, co-ops, non-profits, and open-source enterprises.

edit: Also its not true that capitalism has been here for all of time. Charles Eisenstein discusses evidence for the gift society (start from "Let us begin by better understanding the dynamics of the gift...") in early civilisations. And capitalism didn't really start until after the beginning of the industrial revolution when people had large amount of capital not tied to land. People were still exploited obviously. The point is the system changed, so can change again!

That's my usual choice (Tesco sell it in their world food aisle if you have a large enough one near you) but I recently tried the Tea India one and have found it quite pleasant (much cheaper in Waitrose than the Amazon prices!)

A skillet is just a frying pan. In the US they use skillet, frying pan and fry pan pretty interchangeably. In the UK we often use skillet for non enamelled cast iron frying pans as they will likely have been imported from the USA (or were made for the US market, or were inspired by it) so keep the name, e.g., "Lodge 26.04 cm / 10.25 inch Cast Iron Round Skillet/Frying Pan" on Amazon UK is made in the USA so keeps the name.

I mentioned "non enamelled" because we still call Le Creuset enamelled ones frying pans here even though they are skillets in the US, e.g.,

Le Creuset Signature Iron Handle Skillet (Amazon US) vs CAST IRON FRYING PAN (Le Creuset UK).

A "cast iron griddle pan" is just a "cast iron griddle pan" or maybe "grill pan" if you prefer. It's a frying pan with ridges.

Until 3 days ago i had the components basically set up on the desk since the first case had the efficiency of an oven at dissipating heat.
I managed to get this case , put everything together and it turns out that when the pc is off but speaker on it plays something, not loud enough to make out full sentences, but quite sure it was some football commentary last night

Good guy Costco. Their spaces are massive.

In truth, a lot of things like this, roundabout sizes, industrial estate layouts, airport layouts, bowling alleys, fast food joints, various car turning circles, commercial kitchen layouts, landscaping, multi-storey car parks, marinas etc are all laid out in a book called [the metric handbook](
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Metric-Handbook-Planning-Design-Data/dp/1138714682/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?adgrpid=51872254543&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIh5C8nMPu5AIVxpTVCh1UBg5VEAAYASAAEgLZa_D_BwE&hvadid=259133408144&hvdev=m&hvlocphy=1006886&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=e&hvrand=10326119408786141949&hvtargid=kwd-316106524691&hydadcr=14158_1804106&keywords=the+metric+handbook&qid=1569502184&sr=8-1).

It lists minimum widths parking spaces that suit most cars. So people go for that instead of allowing a little more space.

There is a book called A Man Deep in Mendip

Not quite what you are looking for but a great book.

Eneloop batteries are the best that I've ever had. They hold charge longer when not being used and have lasted very well after several recharges.

Nearly $60/bag with only a few left in stock on Amazon.com, and even worse in the UK - the last pack going for £37.29. Or, more sensibly, Poundland seems to sell 5-packs.

The company was bought out and doesn't have web presence or as much store presence. Quite why whoever bought them out doesn't make use of their assets and sell bucketloads of these excellent crisps up and down the land beats me. Perhaps it was Gary Lineker who bought them?

The Ham & Pickle and Lamb & Mint flavours were also good, though as the Beef & Mustard existed, I didn't eat more than one or two packs of those as to eat them was to deny myself Beef and Mustard.
