The Cannabis Encyclopedia - Jorge Cervantes

It covers everything you’d need to know. It also has an illustrated diagnostic section, which for any novice grower is an invaluable resource (ie without needing the Internet)

A brief overview of the issue or curiosity I’m having is usually covered which I can then use to focus my attention toward a more in-depth resource.

I also recommend: Growing Elite Cannabis - Ryan Riley

I have an older digital version of this book, it has been republished so I’m sure they updated some of their information but this tome (516 pages) has a lot of good information. It’s easy-to-understand and has tons of good images to help illustrate the techniques and processes for all the major. It’s pretty costly (~$90-$100), but depending on your level of interest it could be a great investment to your growing knowledge.

Happy Growing!!

I helped set up a grow with an LED light. The light itself was about $150-$200 but it's perfect for veg and flowering. I would recommend going that route since it helps with the heat and electricity.

This is the light. 600w equivalent only using 300w. It's full spectrum and the light is actually a really intense violet color, its pretty badass. The person growing says their electricity has only gone up by about $30 (.12c/kWh or so)

MarsHydro Mars300 Mars600 Led Grpow Light(Mars600 with Veg/Bloom Spectrum for Hydroponic Indoor Greenhouse/Garden Plant Growing, 272W True Watt Panel) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XC3LBIW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_KvovxbYQTRKNV

Sorry for the link formatting, on mobile. I highly recommend the light though. It has had plenty of power for the three plants that they have in about the same footage as your grow.

Yep that’s it

Further tips:

Drying and curing will make or break your harvest. If the drying/curing is fucked up, it could ruin even the most perfect buds and make them almost unsmokeable

You want to dry them for at least 5-7 days in ~55% humidity. Preferably 7-10 days. As long as you hit a week, your buds will be great. It takes time for buds to properly dry themselves and ripen to the point they are prime to smoke. After drying them, they should smell very nice and will be ready to smoke

But hold on!

To get even more out of your quality, you cure them to let the remaining chlorophyll break down and to let the smells and flavors really come through after being left out in the open air to dry earlier

Humidity in the jar is best kept around 50-60%. More towards 50 and your buds will break apart easier, more towards 60 and they will feel super soft and lively. I personally like 57-58%.

The baseline is to cure it for two weeks. Burp it daily if you need it. When the humidity in the jars levels out and your buds feel nice and evenly moist/dry, stop burping it. Only burp when you notice humidity is high after the first week. The goal with sealing it up is to expose it to as little fresh oxygen as possible, because oxygen will oxidize your buds, make them darker, and mute those nice smells and flavors. You burp to release excess moisture from the fresher buds, preventing mold

A super easy way to streamline this process is to purchase something like these hygrometers so you can know the humidity everywhere, even in the jars themselves. It’s what I use and they work great. They differ by about 1-2% from each other at worst, but it’s still more than good enough to do a proper dry/cure

I’m a tricomb guy, grab a cheep scope off of amazon, https://www.amazon.ca/KINGMAS-Microscope-Jewelry-Magnifier-Jeweler/dp/B00AQAANDS/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?keywords=mini+microscope&qid=1567317008&s=gateway&sprefix=mini+micr&sr=8-5 Or search mini microscope and pick one

This one is 12$ Canadian and works perfect for this, the tricombs will start clear and then start to get cloudy and then start to turn Amber. I usually check the middle of the main cola on the plant and chop when it’s approx 60/40 Amber to cloudy. it’s a personal preference thing as the high changes depending on ratio. You should be able to find some you tube videos fairly easily that’ll help. The scope is also a must for identifying some pests as well.
Great looking plant, good luck!
I seem to have linked the wrong scope, you should get at least a x45 sorry about that

u/rwetryingyet · 2 pointsr/cannabiscultivation

If you got a cover over your base root so they aren't exposed and the clone's roots are developed enough you should be good. I usually move them into Clay pellets once they get bigger cause it's the system I had in place and changing it requires work... But if I cut new holes in my reservoirs I could using something like this https://www.amazon.com/Cloning-Collars-Neoprene-Hydroponics-Germination/dp/B01IDR4BC4/ and be mediumless the whole time. nutes water done. If I'm really ballsy and short on free time I nutes once when I put them into their main hydro bucket have my reservoirs auto flush and refill once a week set my light cycles and come back in 3 months see what I get. If you can maintain stable environment with temp air movement and an available water table this plant is pretty dang robust. Very fun to grow.

u/Resistance92 · 1 pointr/cannabiscultivation

Initially was an outside grow for first week. Moved her inside and shes been doing fine. I water the top of the soil daily until the top is moist. I feed nutes in a water mix every three days using the Fox Farm trio (same thing I spray the surface nice and moist). I have a nice fan blowing on her most of the time. LIGHT SETUP : 20 on/4 off. I keep the light 2 inches above the plant so its nice and close.

I been thinking about upgrading the lights but for just one plant and my first grow I think it may be okay???

I been going along the motions learning a lot and am curious of when I should start LST and if I should top, if so where?

Additional tips are welcome!

The light fixtures linked below are designed specifically for a 4x4 space. They draw 480 watts from the wall.

For high quality led’s like these “quantum board” styled fixtures, you usually want 30 watts or more per square feet.

4x4 = 16 sqft

480 watts / 16 sqft = 30

You can either purchase the Alibaba clone or the HLG 550.

3000k, 3500k and 4000k are all perfectly fine light spectrums to grow with.

Please future proof yourself and get quality led light fixtures. I personally wouldn’t go the HPS or CMH light fixture route, especially knowing there are much more efficient and updated technologies like these led’s linked above.

If you wanted to get in the game contact your city that you want to deliver in and find out their laws. Then find another delivery service in another area in Cali and ask how they got started. Many owners will not give you the time a day but be patient. By reaching out you start to develop the skills that you need to ask the right questions. There are some ebooks out there that are much cheaper than going to a lawyer. Such as californiadispensaryinfo.com (I have read this one) and another is https://www.amazon.com/420-Delivery-Complete-Marijuana-California-ebook/dp/B00UY1D3AO .
Good link

See if this link works: https://www.amazon.com/Active-Air-inch-Line-Fan/dp/B002JQ4N92.

Also, definitely get a fan speed controller and set that baby at the lowest setting. These guys can really go and you're not gonna need all of that CFM for such a little tent. The key is that these fans can create higher pressure (to overcome the resistance of the filters) at lower CFM (to not turn the whole room/closet into a wind tunnel).

If you then hook up the fan to a temperature switch it'll only run when the tent gets hot enough. This will save energy, create less noise, and also avoid creating temps that are too low at night if you like your apt to be cooler while you sleep.

This is all way more info than you asked for but it'll be a really nice, easy system and it'll work with any size tent if you decide to go bigger in the future.

u/kjmorley · 1 pointr/cannabiscultivation

Yes, that would be a perfect size for two or three plants. My first was 36” x 36” with 4 plants, but it was a little tight.

You can use a couple of carabiners to hang the lights from the aluminum tube frame. I use these. Makes it super easy to adjust the height.

The Fungus Gnats are a product of overwatering, get a small fan to blow across the top of your soil and across your plants LIGHTLY. I put a layer of Hydroton or sand on top of my soil to cut down on the fungus gnats. You could also try adding beneficial bacteria, Bacillus Subtilis for example will kill fungus gnat larvae. Roots Organics soil comes with them 100% of the time in my experience and I throw some microbe teas in with some Subtilis, they generally clear up within a week of the first treatment for me. Here is a link to a product containing pest killing (and plant helping) microbes. http://www.amazon.com/Real-Growers-Recharge-8oz/dp/B00J1CAEIG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449007186&sr=8-1&keywords=real+growers+recharge

I add some directly to my soil before I put my plants in. Also add 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon per gallon when watering. You will likely experience an explosion of root growth after using this product or something similar (Great White is another good one but more pricey). Hope this information helped. (Also the fungus gnats will probably do nothing to your plants other than annoy the shit out of you when you're taking care of them)

Think that’s the light that’s hanging in the middle, then 4 9inch reflector clamps in the corners with “100w Led Bulbs” - GreatValue brand- that only pull 14w each from the wall.

So 56+45 =101? That was my basic workout of it in the beginning, or something close to it. Think I have wrong spectrums for flowering with the reflectors, no nutrients to boost them (do have foxfarm coming), and I’m aware middle light isn’t strong enough for several plants, but it’s doing pretty good on the one far as I can tell, there is a second in the room it’s just further behind/bigger/different strain/not getting enough spectrum from reflect lights so not flowering normally.

What a world to live in :-)

Some more pictures of the grow here.

Grow details: This is my first grow, and I thought I would share my experience.

Strain information can be found here and here

I Initially transferred 4 clones (purchased from dispensary at 20$ per) into 5 gallon black plastic buckets. Grown indoors for 4 weeks (May 2018- June 2018 ) in my sun room, with a raised lamp to provide light for extended hours and veg cycle. I just used an old lamp from my chicken coop, nothing special.

In June, I transferred all 4 plants into 65 gallon smart pots of a high nutrient soil (Rocket Fuel, Rogue Soil)

I transferred the plants outdoors into the 4 corners of my vegetable garden. They spent 4 months there, (June through September) They were periodically topped, bent, and trimmed to achieve an open canopy rather than christmas tree shape. Plants were fed according the General Hydroponics Organic feeding schedule.

Each plant grew to be about 5 1/2 feet tall, with a 5 foot diameter canopy.

By the start of October, the days were short enough that the plants began to show signs of flowering. At this point, I heavily trimmed the plants for all material that was not receiving direct light ( a process referred to as lollipopping).

A this stage the nights were also beginning to get quite cold, down into the low 40s and high 30s. This, as well as the beginning of wetter conditions, prompted me to move the plants to the front of my property and place each one on furniture movers that I purchased from home depot.

Each evening at dusk, I roll my plants into one of my empty garage spaces and every morning, I roll the plants out into the sun.

I am a 100% amateur grower, and am very pleased with my results so far. I do not claim any type of expertise, as i'm sure i made many mistakes along the way.

If anyone would like some more pictures from the whole grow let me know! Also happy to answer any questions.

So. I got these from amazon for $99. My first tent was flawless from them, the second had light leaks so they sent me a replacement.

Here is the link. It's amazing for the price, and the supports are solid.

It comes with a liner to keep leaks contained. But I also have a container I put underneath to catch the runoff. ( I ph and ppm test it )

I used a Mars 600 in a 3x2x5 ft cabinet with 6 donkey dicks(one fat cola sticks) and it worked great until I had a mold prob. Really humid summer last year! Got about an ounce each(that survived the mold lol). The 300 might be a little weak relative to more expensive models but it'll do fine if you keep it 18 ish inches above your babies and you keep it at 3 or so.

Kind of unrelated I've been looking at Maxsisun 300W LED with dimmer switches on Amazon for $98 as a supplemental light/germination light. Seems OK for the price plus it's got dimmers for both veg and bloom side! Might be worth looking into for that price. Anyone tried it before? I'll link it in edit.

Edit: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01N45HUOJ/ref=ox_sc_act_image_3?smid=A1AGUPKP8P5NZ7&psc=1

I lied is $98 not $89. Sorry!

Also grammar and some clarifications.
