I know this post is 2 days old, which puts it in some sort of reddit graveyard, but I'll add my thoughts.
First, Altered Carbon by Richard K. Morgan is the definitive "modern" cyberpunk novel so check that out for sure.
Also, for more of a "5 minutes into the future" cyberpunk, check out the Nexus trilogy by Ramez Naam. The third book in the trilogy won the Philip K. Dick Award if that means anything to you.
Another series I liked, which has a great dark humor to it, is the Avery Cates series by Jeff Somers. Seriously, just read the 'About the Author' section at the bottom of that page to get an idea of the humor.
Have you read William Gibson's The Peripheral? It's a neat update on Gibson's cyberpunk vision now that the world has changed.
Someone else recommended Cory Doctorow. I actually think Little Brother is his best work, though it's young adult so prepare yourself for that.
Finally, I feel weird recommending this, but if you were a child of the 80s, have you read Ready Player One? It's pretty polarizing in this sub since you either love it or you hate it, but it is a popular modern cyberpunk novel.
Serial Experiments Lain should get touched on as both one of the more abstract/intellectual cyberpunk works and a rare example in the genre of a story driven by a non-sexualized, non-action-girl female protagonist. It also manages to avoid almost every cliche, so it'd be an interesting counterpoint to those who feel cyberpunk is just gritty future noir in rainy urban centers where everyone has robot legs.
I'm rereading Bruce Sterling's "Schismatrix" right now, and his story "Twenty Evocations" would be great to throw into a class like this. It's short, it's poignant, it's literary and someone already put together a great list of questions to ask a class after reading it.
Tad Williams' "Otherland" series is way too long to cram into a class like this, but may deserve a mention for being one of the more diverse and human works in the genre. It features characters from a wild variety of backgrounds, and manages to pull off the "global cultural melting pot" that so many cyberpunk works aim for remarkably well.
Greg Egan's "Permutation City" has some really wonderful questions about persistence of identity, time and relativity, subjective experience and physical reality, but it's still melting my brain too much to even know how to summarize. Ditto "Aeon Flux," which is at least shorter. Episodes like "The Purge" are framed around some great open questions on morality, free choice and such. I can't imagine you could get away with showing it to a high school class, though; and I took AP classes where half this crap was part of our reading when I was in high school.
I feel Peter Watts and Paolo Bacigalupi do "modern" cyberpunk well, adapting the genre's themes to contemporary concerns and technologies. Semi-relatedly, I really wish there were more works in the genre that address social and/or political issues. Kim Stanley Robinson's "New York 2140" might or might not qualify.
There's also Storming the Reality Studio, a fantastic anthology which is heavy on early cyberpunk, protocyberpunk and genre influences and nonfiction by Kathy Acker, William Burroughs, John Shirley et al.
Also Hackers. Shut up. You know it's awesome.
I saw it when it first came out a long time ago. I remember reading about Mitnick from this book http://www.amazon.com/CYBERPUNK-Outlaws-Hackers-Computer-Frontier/dp/0684818620 so, I was really excited to see the movie, but It felt very 'made for TV' quality. Not nessecarily inaccurate, just treated more like a cop drama.
The book was very good, as was Bruce Sterling's http://www.amazon.com/The-Hacker-Crackdown-Disorder-Electronic/dp/055356370X
I emailed Mr. Sterling about hacking when I was in highschool, and he was one of the first people to suggest that I not take it too far, and instead work towards building things. I still follow that advice today.
Also, if you haven't read it yet, The Cuckoos Egg was a fun read http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0083DJXCM?btkr=1
It was that book that inspired me to work as a programmer for a university.
Good movies about hacking are few and far between, I'm afraid. It's all too easy to use Hacking as 'magic', and just make it rediculous.
The mask is an MSA Millennium with the tinted polycarbonate lens cover. It's very similar to the Advantage 1000, but the unused filter ports appear flush as opposed to having a cap. They also have a different drinking tube and exhale valve assembly.
They're very popular in the uh...(highly NSFW) Latex crowds.
Based on the rear ring sight and the lack of a rail accompanying said sight, my best guess on the gun is a Remington 870 Police.
The shotshells have the characteristic white color and tip of beanbag rounds.
I'd guess that the radio is an APX6000 or a similar variant. The antenna doesn't match, but the rest is really close. Maybe aftermarket antenna?
The rest of his gear looks like pretty generic law enforcement gear, but I hope that helps to some degree.
Most of these are very early cyberpunk, the progenitors of the genre if you will. As such I'm not sure if they can be described as necessarily obscure but I don't see many of them mentioned that often (admittedly I'm somewhat new to /r/cyberpunk so you guys might talk about them all the time, in which case please disregard). As a final note not all of these are available on the Kindle market. Nevertheless here's a few that leap to mind -
Oh wow, you read quickly! :P
Thanks very much for the kind words . . . I hope it's not asking too much, but if you have the time would you mind leaving a review on Amazon and/or Goodreads? Every little bit helps, you know? I'm really glad you enjoyed the book!
Details: The book is cut in half and each page are fun quotables by 2 computer systems in nostalgic reflection. One is rugged(Memphis Megahertz) and cyberpunk/spaghetti western in nature whilst the other (Kansas City Fractal) is traditional and emotional Vaporwave tech nostalgia and pre internet nostalgia stylings. Here is a free PDF "Shareware" copy of the book to take a preview at....

The Amazon link for the physical copy is here. Thank you! The Amazon product link just launched so it's not fully compiled, the book description is all there and stuff though. I literally just pressed the PUBLISH button so yeah. Cool! Any reviews would seriously and immensely help as well. Thank you!

Wow - I'm envious. Would have loved to see that. For anyone curious here's a look at the exhibit: GENGA
And there's also beautiful exhibition catalog: Amazon link
Awesome Blade Runner piece. If anyone is interested in some reading material, the movie this image is based on is based on the novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" Phenomenal read.
Someone I like to shill for is Sean Kennedy, his novel Immersion 2086 is fantastic for the plot and features elements I don't think many have thought to mix with the cyberpunk genre. I wouldn't want to spoil it for you so I won't mention what those elements are but if you're familiar with his previous works you'll be pleasantly surprised.
https://www.amazon.ca/Immersion-2086-Sean-Kennedy/dp/1682225445
also check out tales form the afternow (start at stream jack and work your way up)
If you like this particular flavor, I highly recommend Ian McDonald's excellent novel Scissors Cut Paper Wrap Stone. One of my all-time faves.
If you haven't picked it up yet, do so. Dan Luvisi's Last Man Standing: Killbook of a Bounty Hunter.
It's awesome. The art is amazing. Read it while listening to Deltron 3030.
I'm guessing this isn't exactly what you had in mind, but I really enjoyed this book when I was in high school:
CYBERPUNK: Outlaws and Hackers on the Computer Frontier
My parents found it at a garage sale and I was just starting to get really into computers. It tells the true stories of Kevin Mitnick, Robert T. Morris, and the Chaos Computer Club. I had never really heard anything about true hacking at this point and it was riveting.
I've bought several LED and Binary/semi-binary watches on Amazon. This one is just the tip of the iceberg.
I am quite fond of this one. Had it for a couple years, still goes strong.
The next question is, of course:
Why must it happen slowly? Assuming the emulation is perfect (and barring physics), why couldn't it happen instantly?
Of course - it continues to go deeper. If you liked GEB - then check out:
http://www.amazon.com/Minds-Fantasies-Reflections-Self-Soul/dp/0465030912/
Try this link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Lightcap-ebook/dp/B00D0ECD5S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1375374749
Hopefully that works? I am in the US, but when I view that link it does show that the price is free. If you don't see the same thing, PM me and we can figure something out.
The one I used had to be modified into a mask. However the software is pretty nice it works with bluetooth (Android and iOS) power source is usb, so if you have a good power block you might be able to pull it off.
https://www.amazon.com/d/USB-Fans/Shihualine-Bluetooth-picture-Display-Powered/B01AHNWFAW/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1542145778&sr=1-1&keywords=Shihualine+Bluetooth+LED+picture+photo+Display+USB+Powered+Desk+Desktop+Fan

Well being my own stuff you can look through my other work (moofart.com), but I think this is kind of unique even for me. I'm intending to run with this style for more projects so I can give you a heads up if I do anything.
Other than that, I can only think of Cannabis works:
http://www.amazon.com/Cannabis-Works-Tatsuyuki-Tanaka-Book/dp/B003F7NS72/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1395598044&sr=1-1&keywords=cannabis+works
and the guy who drew Akira:
Genga: Otomo Katsuhiro Original Pictures
http://www.amazon.com/Genga-Katsuhiro-Original-Pictures-Japanese/dp/4756242731/ref=pd_sim_b_19?ie=UTF8&refRID=0ZFDW7YWWQTHM4VNE1VA
There's gotta be others though, so if I find em I'll hit you up ;)
If you enjoy Gibson's novels you should give 'Immersion: 2086' by Sean Kennedy a go. Not quite as well written but still really enjoyable.
https://www.amazon.com/Immersion-2086-Sean-Kennedy/dp/1682225445
>The mask is an MSA Millennium with the tinted polycarbonate lens cover. It's very similar to the Advantage 1000, but the unused filter ports appear flush as opposed to having a cap.

Welp... bring out the gimp.
Last Man Standing: Killbook of a Bounty Hunter
Everyone here needs to buy this book. He's releasing a revised copy in November that's $45 as opposed to it's initial $500+ price point. A very cyberpunk feel with great artwork!
They probably use the type of neon wire you can buy online and just zip tied or glued it to the umbrella rim. You can see the battery box on the handle.
https://www.amazon.com/Blue-Neon-Glowing-Strobing-Electroluminescent/dp/B003J99JW4
I would think this could be quite fragile. I bought a product called live wire years ago and it broke very easily due to twisting/bending it too much. Who knows how it would hold up in the rain. Would probably be best to attempt some kind of water-proofing by wrapping it in plastic as the umbrella itself won't be able to completely shield it.
That's cool, good luck to you! When I found this genre it was kind of falling down the rabbit hole. I remember a night where I watched Pinnochio 964 with crappy spanish subtitles and tried to make sense of what I saw by the very few words I understood. What a mindfuck. No 3d imax ready player one with d-box seats can give you that feeling.
I searched a bit and I found death powder with english subtitles:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NrTkbnf3z_
I also found Pinnochio 964 with french subtitles, if that helps:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_54DRIEc7-s
And I found bullet ballet with english subs:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9OjNzExkpc
And there actually is a german release of tetsuo and electric dragon, I can't fucking believe it:
https://www.amazon.de/Cyberpunk-Double-Feature-Tetsuo-Electric/dp/B000AAXGYC/ref=sr_1_fkmrnull_1?__mk_de_DE=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&keywords=electric+dragon+tetsuo&qid=1556692932&s=gateway&sr=8-1-fkmrnull
Still missing Rubber's Lover. But yeah as soon I got some time on my hands I'll watch them all in a row and have some crazy nightmares afterwards\^\^
I poked around some and found this EL wire on Amazon that's pretty inexpensive. This is another source that may help out. I suppose you could go with a fluorescent fixture that is quite common in industrial areas but that would require some additional tools and possibly wiring knowledge.
Are you looking for some sort of atmospheric all-around glow or a stark, minimalist look?
you might like Binary Watches .
