I use a this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003WGOF28/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1382104510&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70

Or if your dog will hold still, you can saturate a cotton ball with the solution and gently apply a little around the snout (wouldn't recommend on shih tzus or pugs etc.) Faces and heads are the worst because that's usually what was saturated with the most spray and unfortunately most cleansers that effectively remove the smell are too harsh to be near eyes. I wish we could explain to our dogs to leave skunks alone ha ha.

https://www.amazon.ca/Chuckit-Large-Kick-Fetch-Ball/dp/B0084DRJKO/ref=sr_1_8?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1478117626&sr=1-8&keywords=ChuckIt%21

I'd say this is another good one for bigger dogs, who seem to destroy other rubber kind of balls. The inside is foam and the covering is ChuckIts rubber and canvas. My dog does eventually chew through the cover, but it lasts for a good year or two. It's soft enough that he can squish, but sometimes will get it stuck in his mouth.

It reminds me of this book I read when I was little Henry and Mudge

Kara got wise to the fact that she could just remove the ball once she slowed down enough. We didn't think that she would ever slow it down enough to eat normally. It took her a really long time, but now she is comfortable enough to not even finish her bowl. She will walk away once she is full and go lay down. I'd just say to keep giving her time and patience. I cannot even begin to imagine how awful being starved would be. Poor girl. Maybe something like this would help? I recommend some dog goggles. Pups with white around their eyes can get horrible sunburns around and/or on their lids. It can really hurt. They are cheap and my pup doesnt seem to mid wearing them once she got used to them.
