Christian Dubstep

Yes this is an actual release, I would not listen to myself seeing as there is no artist tags and it has "Dubstep Remix" on the titles. Gave me a good laugh though.

I love mine, nothings the same as unplugged, but after you're ears feel like they've been raped and you still want to keep dancing, they're the perfect solution.

I have two of these

http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/products/recent/monitor60/

and the 10" sub that goes with them

http://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-10-Inch-Monitor-Subwoofer/dp/B0002KVQBA

And I have an Onkyo 300watt receiver. It's underpowered for those speakers, but the sub has its own amp so it bumps. Can rattle my whole house, I love it.

Do yourself a favor and pick up this book. There's no way to pussyfoot around this - you need to gain a basic knowledge of digital synthesis to get any better at this kind of thing.

u/knowhatimsayin · 1 pointr/dubstep

Z2300's are all you need.

I fucking love my set.. nothing louder on the market.. No sub hits notes so smoothly without that fucking rattle. They just got discontinued, making a cheaper set for more expensive now..get them while you can
here.

TL;DR THX CERTIFIED. THAT IS ALL

This debate sent me searching and to the following passage from
Dub: Soundscapes and Shattered Songs in Jamaican Reggae:

>Today, the sounds and techniques of classic dub music have been stylistically absorbed into the various genres of global electronic popular music (such as hip-hop, techno, house, jungle, ambient, and trip-hop), and conceptually absorbed into the now commonplace practice of song remixing. Few people are aware that dub, a style built around fragments of sound over a hypnotically repeating reggae groove, was a crucial forerunner of these genres and that much of what is unique about contemporary dance music is directly traceable to the studio production techniques pioneered in Kingston beginning in the 1960.

Of course, it's just one scholars opinion.

European experimental electronic music certainly had a huge impact on the development of the electronic part of electronic dance music, most conspicuously through the medium of Kraftwerk's infectious refinement of the tradition. But, as far as I know, the Jamaican sound-system culture that fueled the development of dub is the earliest manifestation of something like a DJ centric "club culture".

I mean, I generally use mediafire, which is horrendous for my computer I'm sure. Albums to download: Fabriclive .37 (really a good mix of bassline focused, as well as more ambient dub), Joker's mix for Mary Anne Hobbs (best link I could find, sorry), Dubstep Allstars Vol 4 , Dubstep Allstars Vol 5. I'll message you with more if you want me to.

I have this: http://www.amazon.com/TDK-A12-Bluetooth-Portable-Wireless/dp/B00IOIJD5I and I like it. The larger model is supposed to be good as well (it's in your price range). The sound is surprisingly good and it gets pretty loud. As far as battery life I've used it I've never really ran it to the point it died, but I don't typically listen for hours on end.

You're treading in very dangerous waters asking about headphones. In all honesty, you don't need to spend more then $100 for a nice pair of headphones.

That being said. I have 2 pairs of these... They have served me well for many years.

I downloaded the album on Amazon then listened to it on the bus. It's quite good!

u/Austy · 2 pointsr/dubstep

dude... i'm in the same boat. i've been eyeing this one for a while now, specifically because it's cheap (90$), supposed to be good quality (Polk is a respectable brand), and I can hook it up with my existing bookshelf speakers.

that said, I haven't heard it yet so I can't vouch.. but, soon!

If you're looking for a cheap midi controller to control volumes and EQs inside of ableton, you might want to consider the m-audio x-session pro.

http://www.amazon.com/M-Audio-X-Session-Midi-MixerController/dp/B000MJ2LTW

Personally, I don't have any experience with the thing, so I couldn't tell you much more about it.

Unrelated if you don't mind me asking, I'm curious to know how and why you use ableton to mix tracks rather than other dj software.

I wore these, it was still beyond loud http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0032BYCWG/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Great freaking show and the loudest I had ever been to.

>buy some disposable ear plugs before you get to the event for next to free.

Get yourself some reusable musician ear plugs, a la: linky

In my room I rock a pretty decent setup; two Polk Audio Bookshelf speakers with a great Polk Audio 10" Sub. Then I have two Pioneer 12" subs in my car along with two Pioneer 6x9 speakers all powered by a Pioneer 1200watt amp. As far as headphones go I typically use SkullCandy earbuds, I hate SkullCandy as a brand but fuck me if they don't make a great set of 15$ headphones, I rarely use headphones however more a workplace thing.
