I remember reading in an otherwise-pretty-lackluster video game textbook a useful series of designations regarding game protagonists, which I ended up adapting for a big long paper I wrote on game narrative. The idea was that "avatar," rather than being a catch-all term, should only refer to those characters who are meant to represent the actual player (for example, Miis). "Role-playing" protagonists, on the other hand, are basically what you're describing: customizable main characters whose role you slip into, but don't conflate with yourself. And then you get what they call "actor" protagonists, like your traditional FE lords, which are completely stand-alone in terms of design, decision-making, etc.

I wish more people would adopt this notion of the player playing a role as they would do on stage. You get into character and lend your own spin, but you don't get free reign to do whatever you want, because then the writer can't possibly tell a story with that character. I really do think it boils down in large part to not understanding the terminology and concepts we use, and that ends up resulting in really confused design, writing, and reception. Unfortunately, Nintendo's execs are not inclined to see the value in games as narrative (or much of anything beyond product), which is why there's been a history of friction between the company and its more visionary directors (Kaga, Sakurai, Tajiri, Itoi...), and I'm not convinced this wasn't a factor in Intelligent System's "staff reset," since Paper Mario's narrative suffered along with FE's.

What ArkinekGaiden said. Unless you want to fork over a lot of money, or unless it just broke outa nowhere and you bought it from a retail store, you've gotta fix it yourself. Some strong glue should work.

Make sure to get ones for plastics if it is a plastic (can't tell if it's ceramic or plastic, but it looks plasticy. Maybe its rubber ?)

Yeah, they're striped beads! Kinda new. I honestly don't use them for very much though. And irons aren't that expensive, like here's a travel iron like the one I use for $12....

amiibo are becoming more and more common to find recently. You should easily be able to find Marth at Best Buy and Ike at GameStop (Keep in mind that Ike is currently a GameStop exclusive). As for Robin and Lucina, those are currently out of stock, so your best bet would be to try and find them for as cheap a price you can online. Probably on Amazon, as the Japanese imports shouldn't cost too much over the usual store price.

oh, in that case, its essentially a ROMHack. It definitely wasn't developed with the official tools, on the official DLC release schedule that (some people) bought codes for prior to release in the US. It definitely wasn't developed by the original developers, available on the official nintendo Eshop, that ties in with your official NNID. It's really just one step up from cheat engine. Its certainly not officially sold by Nintendo.

I got mine from a japanese stationery store, but you can get it online too. Here it is on amazon with refills. It comes in handy a lot for fine detail erasing.

Which version of Awakening is this? I order it from Amazon which shows the regular NA version. Can it possibly be a bootleg?
