I'm a complete psychopath when it comes to the detailing of my car. My home set-up costs literally $900 not including my back-up product.

In your situation, I would go to Obsessed Garage's Youtube channel and watch his waxing process. You can't use all of his tips but what you can do is use his guide on Collinite 845 + Jescar Power Lock waxing and that will put a great seal on your car.

Beyond that waxing, I would strongly recommend putting in an Amazon order for some Optimum Opti-Clean which is the best waterless wash on the market.

It will be a pain the first time around but that wax lasts an easy 6-8 months and is better than most detailing shops will give you.

Bear with me here: it’s a bit expensive and hacking two mounts together, but I think this is the best solution.

The Scoche Magic Mount is magnetic and awesome, but it needs to adhere to the interior. No thanks. The Beat Sonic QBF13 is a clip that fits on the passenger side panel and doesn’t adhere to anything, but requires the use of one of their bulky cases that don’t seem too stable.

They actually use the same ball joint to swivel the phone, so I tried just doing that, but t didn’t quite let me swivel the Magic Mount the way I liked. I ended up just unscrewing and pulling the plastic bits off the QBF13, drilling holes in the Magic Mount, then attaching it via the screws that came with the QBF13.

Granted, I basically paid $36 for a small piece of metal and some screws (honestly, isn’t that what all the other mods are anyway?), but I love it and wouldn’t trade it for any other mount.

There are 3 different connectors that you'll have to hook up to the connector that comes with the head unit that plugs into the head unit itself. The other 3 connectors are VERY easy to install. 0 electrical engineering education, but common sense and the color coded instructions on the back of the packaging explains all you need to know.

Should mention that the stock AUX connection won't function. You will have to run an extension from the back of the head unit to somewhere in your car. I routed mine to the left side of the passenger seat held up by this thing.


I don't use the microphone for bluetooth so that's not connected. I don't plan on using my head unit for displaying for any video sources so I didn't bother hooking up the hand brake bypass. The GPS antenna I just stuck to some metal plate that was inside the head unit cavity (pretty strong magnet and pretty accurate).

You may want to pick up a bracket like this. to fill in the rest of the head unit cavity along the sides. I'm not too sure if this is the exact one for the head unit. Crutchfield automatically told me what parts I would need to completely setup the head unit including the bracket and connectors. I couldn't find yours on the site so I can't tell you exactly which bracket to get. They're both Pioneer head units so it's worth a try. The bracket is a generic bracket made for most Toyota cavities to support double DIN sized head units. I had to do some slight Dremel work to get everything to line up with the stock mounting bracket. A solid afternoon with everything and I was set by the end of the day.

I had to contact OEM Audio Plus about how to get power to their amplifier because they have a replacement harness for the stock harness. But that's information that doesn't pertain to you unless you own their system with a subwoofer.

Tl;dr: Links 1-3 are what you need to connect everything. Link 4 is some random accessory I bought that happened to work things out. Link 5 is a bracket adapter to the stock bracket. Last link is the site that showed me all the stuff I needed and I just looked them all up on Amazon.

i know they're kinda overpriced but they're amazing and as long as you dont do something stupid like drop them and keep using them, they dont swirl your clearcoat. theyre quite absorbent too, so soft. 2 of these will dry an FR-S. The first one will be soaked, but is enough to get the beaded water off your finish, then use the 2nd one to mop up.

In terms of wax, that Meguiars Ultimate Paste Wax is amazing. Synthetic so it lasts much longer than carnauba, and ive never had a wax go on and off so easily. Dries in like 5-10 minutes, and buffs right off. I was amazed! Leaves a helluva shine too. I put it on my glass and exterior lights as well.

I wired mine up with switches and whatnot which cost a few extra bucks.

But overall should be able to do it sub 100$ easily.

I just put together a tool kit for my BRZ, and I ended up getting a set of Tekton metric sockets and a Tekton low-profile 3/8s inch ratchet. I've used Tekton quite a bit and I found them to be pretty great. These metric sockets will cover just about everything on the car that can be loosened or tightened with a socket, and since they're deep sockets you can loosen lug nuts with them.

I'd suggest getting a breaker bar or torque wrench if you want to get an additional accessory. The breaker bar is great for loosening tough nuts, and the torque wrench is terrific for tightening a fastener to the exact amount of force it specifies in the manual.

If you really want to go above and beyond, an open ended wrench set (also metric) can be great for when a socket just won't fit. They even make a version with a built-in ratcheting mechanism

In summary, a metric ratchet set that goes from about 8mm to about 20mm is a great gift idea, and you can easily add on other accessories or wrenches if you want to make your gift a bit bigger. I can personally vouch for the Tekton stuff--sure it's not the most expensive fancy set of tools out there, but they look, feel, and work well.
