There are a lot of things like that, and they vary a lot in terms of price and visual style: closet organizer, closet shelving system, closet kit, shelf cube storage... Hopefully one of those is along the lines of what you were looking for.

I found a modern furniture that is similar to your mid-century modern furniture. It is a modern computer desk, minimalist simple design, which looks very elegant!

Have you ever tried a metal frame? Recently I have just grabbed a new bed frame which is [a metal frame] (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01C2RXAMS). I had a wood frame that was nice but the problem was that it made so much noise anytime I would get on the bed, or make any movement on the bed. I gave that bed set away and decided to get this metal bed frame to see if it would be quieter. Well the set up to this is easy and it came in a small box and took me about 5 minutes. The bed makes no noise and no squeaks! It holds well and is very sturdy. The appearance is not pretty but just put a bed skirt and it covers it right up. Just some thoughts of mine, hope it helps you.

I applied this to it (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00771KRIA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_9ToUDbMNVCGZC) but it didn’t seem to help at all. Is there something else I should try?

Maybe something like this torchiere with a flexible arm mounted reading lamp?

I have considered it. I basically don't want to worry about installing it (leveling, finding studs, etc.) and putting holes in the wall. I think this one is the closest I've seen to what I'm looking for. The price is just a little high. Also, I realized that 55" long is going to be too big for the space. Probably around 36" would be good.

You can get sliders or rollers you can put under any furniture to move it. They're cheap and available in many hardware stores.

Alternatively, you can replace furniture legs with casters for a more permanent solution.

Oooh, those vipp ones are pretty (and pricey).
I was only able to find these so far, but they're too small for me.

How about the Bell'O ATC402 or ATCA90111?

Crutchfield sells the ATC402 as well, but it's listed as out of stock on their site right now.

Much more expensive than Ikea furniture, but these units are designed for home theatre equipment so perhaps they will work for you.

I use ssscat to keep my cats off the counters and such. It has a motion sensor and sprays compressed air. It won't fix the damage done, but it will keep them from doing more (or being on the table in general).
