If you want any watch with both a compass and temperature readings, it sounds like you'd be better off with a Casio Pro-Trek. They have more sensors than G-shocks, and are normally cheaper.

Here's one that costs only 50$ and has a compass, altimeter, thermometer, and barometer. That being said, it's not solar powered, and it has a negative display, which some people dislike (negative displays are slightly harder to read than positive ones).

If you want to go cheaper or really want a positive display, here's a 40$ one, but it does not have a compass or tough solar.

If you have your heart set on a g-shock. The only one with a compass and thermometer is this one, which, at 180$, does break the bank.

If you don't really care about a compass or thermometer that much and really want a g-shock, I can personally vouch for this at 40$, it's a steal. Other commonly recommended G-shocks are this one because it's less bulky and this one because not only is it less bulky, but it's one of the cheapest G-shocks with multiband-6 (for automatically syncing itself to the correct time) and tough solar.

My overall recommendation to you would be the 50$ Pro-Trek, as I think it fits your needs the best for cheap. However if you are against negative displays, it might not be for you.

Edit: Also the watch you chose is pretty cool. I just saw it was only 62$ on Amazon, that's a great option as well.

There are a few ways to go about it. I usually buy my watches either in person, through Casio directly (in store or online), or from a retail chain (as long as it’s shipped and sold by the retail, like Macy’s).

I’ve also purchased from third party sellers on Amazon because I’m confident in Amazon with their “A to Z” policy. I even went as far as buying from a third party seller from Amazon Japan.

Here’s a listing on amazon: G-Shock Men's GA-100BR-1ACR Black One Size https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KYRCCRB/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_K26RDbMNZAWD0

It’s even cheaper, and the seller has good feedback. Also you have a bit of an advantage because the watch your getting is a hybrid with digital screens. That means you can do some button combinations to check and see if it’s real via the LCD test. Lastly it’s prime eligible so amazon takes care of the shipping and returns (free in this case).

I am a huge fan of both after two weeks of trying them out. I will say that coming from steel dive watches that the 5000 isn't that heavy in comparison, doesn't have any issues on my 7.5" wrist, and the Japanese model's rubber strap is FAR softer than the Indonesian strap. So much so, that I went on Amazon and bought a replacement strap for the 5000 model, and put on the 5600. Makes a huge difference in comfort. I have dry skin and live in a dry environment, and that extra flex in the band makes all the difference in how long I can wear a watch without irritation.

As for comparison between them, I really like all steel backs and the screw down back is just like my dive watches, is very smooth, doesn't catch on my wrist hairs, and I really appreciate the knowledge that my sweat isn't going to corrode screws. Otherwise they're identical.

So whichever you get, get this band:

When you say, “straight from them”, do you mean fulfilled by amazon? This is the one I’m looking at.

https://www.amazon.com/G-Shock-GX-56BB-Blackout-Watches-Black/dp/B01GR7MF4S

It’s sold by onlyu, but fulfilled by amazon.

Thank you.

These are slightly out of your price range, but worth it in looks and technology. AWGM-100-1AC or AWGM-100b-1AC. There is also the AW590-1A.
These are all smaller G-Shock watches, but they wear very comfortably.

Personally, I like the bigger models because of their rugged masculine looks on my wrist (I have a 7.5" wrist). If you have a large wrist, you might also consider saving up for a GA-1000.

So here's what it is... The link to purchase is Replacement Black Polyurethane Link Bracelet Band 22mm for Luminox 3000 and 3900 Series Watches https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004HZBOWM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_LN1myb2Z2PMT2
You will then just need an exacto knife to carve out the tabs to 16mm in order to fit the factory g shock lugs. This, however is not a metal band. It is a PU hard rubber that is very comfortable and light. Great alternative and custom fit compared to the stock strap. Hope this helps!

So: a Seiko analog?

A pilot style analog?

Amazon search makes it pretty easy: here's $199 or less, casio/seiko/citizen

This is the most badass GShock i've seen till date and i have this one. It looks really nice and as your first GShock, this will be a awesome choice.

u/CarsGunsBeer · 1 pointr/gshock

Here is a before and after. I wish I realized my phone's camera was set to low quality but oh well, you get the idea. Massive improvement in clarity and my watch doesn't fog in cold anymore. I used this silicon oil. Some people reported oil used in rc cars bloating the silicone spacer in the back of the watch causing leaks and even cracking the display. Mine is going 5 months strong with no problems, although I don't leave it in the sun to charge, I used a LED solar watch charger.

u/kutkut23 · 1 pointr/gshock

Did you try it by yourself or have you seen anyone doing it ?

And you mean this GD350 b1 right? After I am put the GD350s display there in my Rangeman, would I be able to put the Rangeman's display there? Because I couldn't find any second hand or broken ones online. So my only option would be to buy one, and if do I would still want to use it. GD 350 looks actually better to me with positive dislay.

u/mospamo · 1 pointr/gshock

Thanks. I wasn't aware any of the BB designations came that way, but sure enough, here it is.

And yes, obviously the Grossy version comes from Japan.

My favorite is the GD350-8. Love the two-tone display and slate grey case.

u/ecksor · 1 pointr/gshock

I think neither of these are exactly what you want but should help you as a jumping off point.

If the look of the square G-Shocks isn't for you, consider the AWGM100 models. They have the radio-controlled atomic timekeeping and tough solar features you're looking for, and I believe it's one of the smallest styles offered outside of the women's lines. I have 6.5" wrists, and I'm extremely happy with my [AWGM100B-1ACR] (https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00791YUPO).

u/JaggedOne · 1 pointr/gshock

What about the AWGM100B-1ACR? That model has an analog display which is on my list of essential features, but has none of the extras that want but don't actually need.

Also, where do you find the names of these things (like Riseman). All I am seeing when I look them up are these long model numbers.

u/chaoszcat · 3 pointsr/gshock

The watch itself looks like GW-5500, GW-5510 or GW-5525, but the striking small triangle at the strap resembles the GW-5525, though the screen color seems off.

I'm more leaning towards GW-5510. Sample: https://www.amazon.com/Casio-G-SHOCK-Tough-Multiband-GW-5510-1JF/dp/B00FB6A5FI

u/dave_two_point_oh · 1 pointr/gshock

Hmm. It might actually be the same one you've already found (https://smile.amazon.com/Casio-AWGM100B-1ACR-G-Shock-Solar-Watch/dp/B00791YUPO).

The dial is actually kind of a deep charcoal grey color. Different lighting will make it seem either blacker or more of a dark silvery color depending on amount/type of lighting and viewing angle.

The pic I posted was taken while sitting under a bunch of fluorescent tubes in a library.

Same link you did, but without the ref link.

I’ve worn this one for about 2 years now. Casio Men's AWGM100B-1ACR "G-Shock" Solar Watch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00791YUPO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_UwZbAbHBV8PBQ
