In scratch.php they can obviously print it with a green background, so I am assuming you refer to when he speaks in conventional pages and you have to highlight his text to see it.

The coolest way to do it would be to print the text in white on a transparent plastic overlay layer on top of the regular white-background pages, and attach a black bookmark to the volume that can be slid in-between the transparent overlay and the page. Kind of like the way some kids science books have multiple layers that stack on the same picture with different descriptions of it.

Another visual technique would be to print the letters white-on-white with some sort of special ink that polarizes light, and attach a polarized plastic lens like the ones used in cheap 3D movie glasses to the package.

But I figure that would make the book expensive as all fuck. So probably they will go for the cheapest option and print the pages with the lines pre-highlighted. Perhaps printing the first page where he speaks twice, first without highlighting and then again with highlihgting, just to get the point across to the reader on what is happening.

EDIT: There is also the black-light technique. It is possible to print white-on-white using special ink that lights up when lighed with a violet light. There are even markers made with that, so it's cheap. They could print Doc's lines with that ink and package a cheap 35-cent chinese UV light with the books for the readers to use.

EDIT2: I found a toy that does something with glasses similar to my suggestion of the polarized lens.

Yesterday I ran this colossal fucking tournament for the PC platform fighter Rivals of Aether (Available now on Steam!). Along with two other people I run 3 online tournaments every week for this game, which has quickly turned into a terrifying monolith. Luckily, the T.O. team is made of sterner stuff than mortals - we're like about as tough as a hardcover book, actually. Today I played Kerbal Space Program until I remembered I'm bad at Kerbal Space Program, then I started my re-read of Applied Cultural Anthropology, or... (How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Cruciatus Curse), because it updated after a year-long hiatus and I didn't know what was happening. Also because I'm a lonely disgusting fanfic-reading filthmonster...

I'm trying to read a book a week for 2016 and I've completed the first step of that process by enduring Furies of Calderon by Jim Butcher. I liked The Dresden Files a lot more than this higher-fantasy stuff, which is a shame. Next up on my list is Hyperion. I've been told that this novel contains a spaceship called THE TREESHIP YGGDRASIL, and that is all I know.

AOTD1: I woke up at like 7 AM this morning, disgusted with myself. Luckily I managed to pull off a noon-2 nap, which felt great.

AOTD2: Book a week for a year.

Have you read Red Rising by Pierce Brown? It's a sci-fi dystopia book that I've described to friends as featuring a hemospectrum-like class system.

It's a few hundred years from now, and humans have begun to colonize the solar system. The Red caste labor beneath the surface of Mars, working to terraform the planet so that the other castes can make the journey from earth. However, one Red worker discovers that the planet has already been terraformed, many years ago, and the rest of the colors are living in luxury above ground. He then infiltrates the ruling caste, starts a rebellion, all sorts of lovely things.

I'm currently in the middle of the last book in the trilogy, and so far I'm loving it. There's a bit of a Hunger Games vibe in the first book, but it quickly loses the similarity. There's a lot more politics, and the characters are far more interesting(Sevro. Bloodydamn Sevro. Enough said). I highly recommend it, and apologize if the ending of the last book sucks, because I haven't gotten that far yet!

It'd be a bit like having this (NSFW) as a coffee table book.

Cool, thanks!

Ohh okay. What book am I supposed to pick up then? I did find the [Shadowrun Fifth Edition] (http://www.amazon.com/Shadowrun-Fifth-Jason-M-Hardy/dp/1936876515/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1462672945&sr=8-1&keywords=shadowrun), but I'm not sure if I can spend $50 on a book for this...

Heh, could I ask you for advice then? Or at least when I'm actually able to get started.

> That's pedantry.

And what is it that you're doing, exactly?

I'm not trying to fight with you. I'm just offering some information.

> It is not 1998. And I don't ever recall Macromedia Flash being referred to as Shockwave Flash anywhere in its history.

That's because you're young. I'm not making this up or anything. Check out the reviews for this book I just found:

> In the chapter on delivering movies, you use the Shockwave Flash Export dialog box, learn about compression, create stand-alone projectors, and use Size Reports and the Bandwidth Profiler.

I couldn't find any with "Shockwave Flash" in the actual title, but I clearly remember visiting bookstores as a kid and seeing them on the shelves.

> There is absolutely no reason to have a error written like that.

Is the person who sees the error message (and probably doesn't know what it means) responsible for the people who put it there in the first place? Is yelling about this in /r/homestuck going to get it fixed?

They've seemed more or less irrelevant so far, but there is some precedent.

most of my projects never get finished. of course, there are a few exceptions.

To know why what you are saying doesn't make sense you need to read a very large amount of physcis books, may i suggest starting at Bill Bryson's a short history of nearly everything then moving on to Stephen Hawking's a short history of time
