>a low dose of Xanax, without the sleepiness or the mind fog

This sounds great. I take Etizolam (an RC benzo / xanax-type-equivalent) and I've found that it's best in low doses for reducing anxiety and relaxing, but it also has a tendency to put me to sleep if I try to pursue any more of a high (drinking, taking more of it etc.) and can give a mind fog / memory gaps that I don't really like. I'd love to get those effects without the sleepiness and mind fog.

>Best bet is just to get some ground kava root, put it in a cheesecloth (I use a paint strainer[1] ) fill a bowl with room temperature water, drop the bag of ground root in the water, let it soak for 5-10 minutes then knead it for 10 minutes. Then just scoop the "tea" into a small cup and slam it back.

How much kava / water do you use for this? I'm guessing this might vary depending on how strong the strain of kava is?

>Kava is unique because it has reverse tolerance. Most drugs (for lack of a better term) require you to use more and more each time to feel the effects. With kava it takes less over time to feel it. It has to be a daily thing, after about 5-7 days, you'll be able to feel it quicker with less tea.

If you build up the reverse tolerance but then stop taking it, how long have you found that it usually takes for you to lose it and return to the point where you have to build it back up again?

>Bula Kava House has a good selection. I like the waka kava and the koniac the best. It's easy just to snag up their starter pack which has 4 or 5 good sized bags of their most popular strains. I've not had their instant kava yet, but I hear good things about it.

I found waka kava on amazon for a considerably cheaper price than Bula Kava House's waka kava. Any idea if that's likely to be a good bang for your buck, or is Bula Kava's stuff stronger?

Looks like you can get hookah john titanium coals on amazon.

https://www.amazon.ca/Titanium-Coconut-Charcoal-Cubettes-Pieces/dp/B01KP3I9K4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1523318479&sr=8-1&keywords=coconut+coals

not sure if real, but that looks like your best bet if you're determined to buy from amazon.

Shishafreak also sells Titaniums, I've only ever made one order from them and it was a while ago but I was happy with it.

Oxide hookah sells both Titaniums and Coco Urth coals, and I've had good luck with both over the years. But I mostly roll with Coco Urth these days.

Good Luck!

Yessir.

Check this out. KMs in America are way overpriced, but this one is pretty decently priced.

There are other awesome places too, but I'm just highlighting a couple of your options if you were interested in looking for a KM.

I've heard great things about the Kamanja. KM's are known for quality machining on every product, so I'm sure whichever one you choose is going to be excellent. Try to find one that aesthetically appeals to you, and fits your budget and you're going to have an amazing smoke all of the time. :)

Honeywell AirGenius 5 Air Cleaner/Odor Reducer 250 sq. ft. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009P7SVHS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_9ufVBbYP1QXAB

We have this one. We like it. It’s good for allergies and keeps the air nice. I would recommend looking into it. It’s a bit pricey but if you want something you can have running for a decent amount of time then I would recommend it.

We also have a commercial ozone generator for when we want to clear the room after the evening. Works for all smells you just have to be out of the room when you run it.

Mammoth Commerical Ozone Generator 7000mg Industrial Heavy Duty O3 Air Purifier Deodorizer Sterilizer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071721YG5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_bzfVBbG6KPFM9

This is the exact one we have and it’s nice.

Both options are good. But if you just want the smell gone I would recommend the ozone generator. If you want something to actually take allergens and such out of the air I would recommend the Honeywell.

Gonna mirror what they said. Spend a few on replacing the lights for something a bit more professional looking. It doesn't have to go so far as hiding lights like in that picture but having lights evenly hung or straight is nice. Consistent lighting goes a long way for bars and clubs type places in my opinion.

Also it's really not that expensive. Just taking a quick look and you can find something like this that has a phone app, music sync and all kinds of other bits. Not sure about EU availability but it's not that expensive if you are just working to fill that pictures space and a bit more.

Then I guess typical stuff like good ventilation, having staff know what to do with spills/burns, figure out music levels so that people can still talk. I've been to far too many places where when it gets busy the place just jacks up the music far too much. It's hookah and hanging with friends not a banging club. Uhh don't leave tongs with each table. I've seen more than enough "pros" that tinkers with the coals and just end up making a mess. On that note have your wait staff know how long what type of coals you use burn for to make their rotations.

Best of luck to a smooth place.

I know a lot of new lotus owners have a hard time keeping it clean so I thought I would show what works for me.

I picked up a steel bristled brush and give my lotus a good scrub every single time I pack a new bowl. It sounds tedious but really only takes me about 30 seconds of scrubbing to get most of the stuck/burnt on shisha.

In addition to that I let my lotus sit in hot water with soap and bar keepers friend overnight. Doing this really looseness up the residual buildup so it comes off easy :] Happy smoking!

Edit: Bonus cat picture!

Use this image to help you out. Since you have the base, next would come the down stem. Copper pipe would serve you best but since it is expensive you could use Pyrex to get the job done. You also might want to buy the cutter. The rest is up to you. Cork can be used as a base grommet, the bowl could be made from a metal tea strainer, the limit is your ability to imagine what you can use around your house. Just be sure it is safe to have heat and smoke pass through it. Some plastics will change the smokes compound or leak hormone disruptors into your system. Also, some compounds will become ionized in water when heated up. Good luck and have fun.

With this particular hmd, I never used foil. The shisha burns and sticks to the bottom which is now black, but I wait for it to chill and hit it with a steel bristle brush. I've tried foil with it, but the heat just doesn't get through.
I will tell you though, that I just got a knock off lotus and silicone bowl from Amazon, and I love it. The ridge for the bowl sits a more so above the shisha line, and keeps the hmd from getting too gunked up, and it smokes great. It was also like 15 bucks. Hookah Bowl Set- Funnel Silicone Hookah Bowl + Lotus Heat Management System Shisha Hookah Coal Charcoal Holder for Smoking Hookah Accessories (Seven Holes+Double Handle) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P73L32K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_iRsoDbCG26NH0
The fake lotus is a little different, as the little nibs inside don't keep the coals from blacking out as well as the raised channels in the official, but I like the handle on the base that the official doesn't have (although it still gets too hot to touch while burning coals)
I had my doubts about silicone bowls, but this is great. The next one I'm going to try is one of the silicone bowls worth the glass phunnel insert.
Hookah Bowl Set- Funnel Silicone Hookah Bowl with Hurricane Glass Core + Lotus Heat Management System Shisha Hookah Coal Charcoal Holder for Smoking Hookah Accessories (Glass Silicone+Single Handle) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HMJL5R1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_tUsoDbSAEAGSR
Can't beat this for the price, and it looks like the hmd is a closer copy to the actual kaloud lotus 2

Coil ovens and portable burners are not common where I'm from. We have always used gas to get the coals going. You should just buy youself a camping stove like this. The butane/propane mix is super cheap and coals light pretty fast.

If you want to light them faster, more like with the torch, get one like this. To make it easier you can go to your local hardware store and grab some chickenwire. If you cut it into a 20x20cm sqaure, it gives a pretty good pad for the coals to sit on.

I don't think it'll scratch the cloud, but actually I find that by far the best way to clean my glassware is using Sodium Carbonate (Soda Ash). Not sodium bicarbonate, which is baking soda.

http://www.amazon.com/Sodium-Carbonate-Na2co3-Soda-Ash/dp/B005JHGVTI

Just pick some up if you can find it locally, add two teaspoons or so to water in an old pot and boild it. Put the glass in for 5-15 minutes and hwne you take it out, after a gentle wash and scrub, it will look better than when Santino sent it to you.

I think I read this on Reddit somewhere, maybe HookahPro, I don't remember.

Good question.

I bought a locally made hookah (DC area- base with stem) from my go-to hookah shop. Had a dremel handy so with a few modification, the fit is nice and snuggly. I had to cut the downstem to make it shorter and after making the neck smaller using the dremel, I ended up using electrical tape instead of a grommet and it suprising works great.

If you are unable to find a stem that you can modify, you can create a downstem by using refrigeration copper coil and sealing it by putting epoxy on the cap.

You will also have to make a hole for in the glass using a diamond dust drill bit for the hose. You can find all of the parts from Home Depot. You may need to create another hole for a clear valve and buy one of those parts for glass hookahs to serve as a clearing mechanism. I did that a few years ago with a grey-goose bottle and everyone loved it. However, it was short-lived due to the extensive setup and breakdown time lol

That hookah idea was was inspired off of this article but I didn't like some of the parts used.

Hope this gives you some ideas.

glacio Clear Sphere Ice Duo -... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0796LYCZC?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

It only makes two which is unfortunate but they are much bigger and last way long than the other molds. All the other molds are smaller. Message me back after you use it love to hear the results. Just make sure to read the instructions and the ice will come out clear. I’ve read all reviews and this seems to be the best functioning one.

If it's alright, I'll plug our own product here, Prestige Coco Coals :)

Solid reputation for being the most consistent hookah charcoal

You can find it on most major retail stores, and Amazon. YouTube has a few reviews on it, and for quick text reviews, you can check out Amazon.

I'm confident you'll love them if you give them a try; and if you do, I'd love to hear your feedback!

I am very new to making it on my own since I always got it at a little Lebanese restaurant. Amazon.com has a lot of brands to order and I found a shop in Michigan that sells their own roasted and ground Turkish coffee online (www.hashems.com) but I haven't tried it yet to see if it's good.

Here is the kind I got from amazon since it had great reviews. So far I really like it but I'm still going to try more brands since I don't have much to compare it to.

The stem is a [faucet riser] (http://www.homedepot.com/p/BrassCraft-3-8-in-O-D-x-12-in-Copper-Faucet-Riser-in-Satin-Nickel-1-12A-NSP/205214807?N=5yc1vZbqjn) I pick up from local hardware stores.
That flare near the top keeps grommets on to secure the bowl. The bottom of the stem also has a built in diffuser that I did with a very tiny drill bit.

I secure the stem by a [rubber stopper] (http://www.homedepot.com/p/Unbranded-15-16-in-x-11-16-in-Black-Rubber-Hole-Plug-808238/204273789) that I drill through to create a slip fit. I again picked these up at my local hardware stores.

This one was a pain in the butt because the opening of the bottle wasn't big enough to fit the stoppers I had in, so I improvised using the unique cap of the bottle to fit the stopper in there and used small black rubber grommets to keep the stem air tight.

The hose port is drilled with a [3/4" diamond dust hole saw] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007M2HB8S) then filled with grommets to create a seal and fit the hose.

The two layered tray is to keep the coals off of the bottom tray. This is because it rests directly on top of the plastic cap and I'd rather not smoke burning plastic lol.

Edit: For anyone interested in the bottle, it's Zing vodka and the light comes with the bottle. It's decent vodka for the price too.

I apologize for any errors in grammar or formatting but I just got out of work and it's 3am. Any other questions, ask on this post or PM me and I would be more than happy to answer them.

Specifically with a skybowl and stratus set I'd recommend swapping down from 3 stonehenged to 2 and a half coal. I've been running that pack on most of my bowls with 2017 tangiers and been much more successful. Occasionally I'll throw 3 on a bowl to start something robust (like a cane mint or static starlight) but if you're on a lighter flavor (breakfast cereal or mimon) I'd drop it to 2 coals.
Alternatively, if you don't mind some next-level heat management, keep your 2 coals on the inside of the stratus with it shut, and move the third coal from the inside to the top of the stratus once the bowl is started.

Finally a huge difference for me and my stratus was a cleaning regimen. I saw a cheap wire brush at the local grocer on a '4th of july sale rack' for 2$. https://www.amazon.com/Rubbermaid-Wire-Pot-Cleaning-Brush/dp/B000S6J48A/ref=sr_1_30?ie=UTF8&qid=1499810893&sr=8-30&keywords=wire+brush There's a comparable amazon model.
Keeping my stratus as clean of baked on particles has actually made a huge difference in how evenly my donuts come out of the skybowl, and while I'll admit this is a lot of personal bias, it fixed the issues I was having with a lot of 'new batch' tangiers.

After using Bar Keeper's Friend, I'll never use another cleaning solution for my hookahs. Works fantastically - especially for the base (make sure you've got some hookah brushes too) and the HMD.
