Its relatively easy. Splice into rear speaker wires for preamp (rca) signal, and run power & remote,

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001EAWS3W/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1495131589&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=rca+converter+for+car+stereo&dpPl=1&dpID=51N99mFrh%2BL&ref=plSrch#

unless it's one of the newer signal sensing auto ON amps.

Or disconnect the oem Bose sub harness, leave it disconnected and tap into that harness for power, remote, and signal (+ & -).

As for the shop and the previous backup camera issue, find another shop asap. Those idiots either grounded the monster amp to the tiny ground screw that the backup cam uses, or they spliced into the camera's power wire as a remote turn on for the amp since it powers on with the ignition.

Try over at Best Buy, their auto installation bay area where they do alarms, radios, gps, etc.

Definitely check crutchfield.com. They have an online "what speakers fit my car" section, and their customer service is great, as well as their knowledge of in-car entertainment. You can even call them with questions.

It's not one of the FM transmitters, but I used a Nulaxy BR01 in my old 2007 Maxima. The jack comes right out and can be replaced by a standard 3/8" to 3/8" extension cable (like if you wanted to hide it in your center console). It worked great for streaming music and handling calls.

The only issue with these things that I could see is they lose the connection once your phone is out of range and don't pick it up again until you turn it off and back on (the transmitter, not the phone).

As far as using the steering controls, probably the volume will work as it's just like using any aux device (mine worked in the Maxima). For track back/forward, stuff like that, you probably need something more complex that can be integrated. At which point you're looking at the more expensive stuff and (likely) pro installation.

Sorry, wish I had more to offer. Just saw your post with no replies and wanted to offer what I could. Good luck finding what you need!

I have used a cassette tape to aux converter in my 2004 FX35 for years (Not sure if 2007s have cassette decks though...). It may not be the absolute best audio quality, but in my opinion, I have never noticed a loss in quality. Maybe this is due to our vehicles having great OEM speakers. Very easy and cheap solution.

Here's the best way to handle this. I'm making assumptions that you have a smartphone and the RCA jacks in your car's armrest.

Get the following.

  • a wired to bluetooth transmitter
  • a usb car charge port
  • 3.5mm to rca jack cable (as short as possible)
  • a cd player mount for your phone

Take the 3.5->RCA cord and plug the RCA ends into the aux jack inside the armrest. Put the USB charger in the 12v socket that's also in the armrest. Take the bluetooth transmitter plug in the power (with the supplied micro USB to normal USB cord) and plug in the 3.5 end of the RCA cord to the jack on the transmitter.

Once the car is on and the transmitter is powered up, pair your phone to the transmitter per the instructions that came with it. After its paired, put all the wires and the transmitter in the armrest and forget about it. You'll never have to deal with it again unless something goes wrong.

Now take the CD player car mount, and turn it so it's horizontal. Put your phone in it and adjust the sides to make sure it doesn't slide out. Switch your car audio system to AUX and leave it there. The only downside is you can't control the audio from the steering wheel. The only thing you can do is adjust the volume.

Now you have an always updated nav system that has guidance and the ability to listen to all your music via the car stereo. I wouldn't try any other BT transmitter. It's the key to the whole deal and I know that one works. The rest of the stuff is universal and pretty generic. You may have some/most of them already. You can really shop around for the USB charger, RCA cable and CD player mount and get the cost down more. The whole setup should be around $75 or less.

This is by far the most effective, economical way to get what you want. There isn't really a way to update or modernize the stock equipment outside of buying a new car. I'm pretty sure that's by design.

oh i didnt even notice that you said Q50, these are for my g35 and g37's im sure infiniti hasnt changed the bulb size but id double check to be sure.
http://www.modifiedlife.com/2014-infiniti-q50-change-light-bulb-size-guide/
This site is what i usually go by and it says there arent bulbs to change.

my best advice is to yank out the OEM bulb and look for a part size, if they do indeed match one of these auxito lights, it will defintiely make a HUGE difference.

u/howdyfrickindo · 2 pointsr/infiniti

I have a q50 so the part could be different but on my car they are held on with the plastic push anchor things- black "washer" with insertable portion and a center part that expands the washer and is removed with a flat head.
They are all over the car, for a temporary fix I'd check the engine bay over your radiator area, there should be about a million of them holding the ram-air-box-cover-majigger in place. also probably some in your trunk.
This is them but I'd be willing to bet a dealer will replace it for free.

Edit: pretty sure it's Part No. 01553-2DR9A but it'll set you back a pretty penny- 11 of them to be exact, haha

Invidia Gemini true dual catback with burnt titanium tips paired with AAM Competition high flow cats. Since this video was taken, I switched the tips out for these carbon fiber and stainless steel tips because somehow, when I was out of town for work for a couple weeks, one of my original tips went missing.

If you want a smooth exhaust tone with no drone, no rasp, and a good volume, this is definitely one way to go. You can keep it reasonably quiet if you're being easy on the throttle, and you can easily make it roar when you get on it. Definitely no tinny/raspy sounds like some Gs and Zs (which is fine if that's what you like, but it's not my personal preference.)

The Invidia sounded great, and I had it for almost a year by itself, but I decided I wanted it louder and a bit more aggressive.

The AAM Competition high flow cats are a great pairing with the Invidia for some extra volume, and still no drone. Also, these have been on for about 1000 miles now and haven't thrown any CELs, so that's a big plus.

Here's where I got them:

I use Meguiar's gold class. Any Caranuba wax is high quality, but that is the one I prefer and have found to be a very good price point.

Waxing is relatively straightforward. You will need a lot of soft shammy towels to buff the wax in and remove excess. It'll say on the can something similar to this: take the pad inside the wax can and buff the wax into the car in circular motions. Take a shammy towel and buff the wax using the same circular motions and removing excess. Flip to the dry side of the shammy towel and wipe the remaining excess away. Do that one small section at a time (for instance, I do one door at a time, or half of the hood).

Happy waxing! It'll make the car like you've never seen it before.

Got these ones, they work perfect and took about 30-45mins to install since I'm kind of a noob lol. Wire up was easiest part. Just sticking the wires in the correct color coded spots. I can send you a picture of how it wires up later if you'd like. They were actually pretty easy to install, just unbolting a couple of things and undoing some of the trunk trims, didn't have to remove taillights

I've got a 2005 revup 6mt sedan. It's had the engine replaced through the dealership because of oil consumption (previous owner). 40k on the new motor 90k on the chassis. Good car, burns around a quart of oil after 4k miles of hard driving. My new drive for work is up and down a windy highway. I really think a short shifter and a set of sway bars would help make the drive more fun. I have all-season Michelin primacy mx4's 235s 18 rays. Any other recommendations would be awesome.

Some sway bars I'm considering http://www.amazon.com/Hotchkis-22413-Sport-Sway-Nissan/dp/B004SRYKWU?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_sfl_title_1&smid=A26YKA1AMO7VO

and http://autodynamic.com/performance/short-shifters/revo-technica-short-shifter-assembly-nissan-350z-infiniti-g35-2-4-dr.html

Reading on the revo technica it's a good cheap shifter with a highly reduced throw range. The shift knob is cheap but weighted, I might have to return it a times until i find a nice one (reviews say they come scratched)

I got my 2011 G37xS Coupe for $15k +tax in Toronto (130k km tho). Did I get a good deal?

In terms of the audio issue I went through so many solutions. This is the product you want. A little pricy but it works perfectly. Just like the factory Bluetooth.

u/rebo2 · 1 pointr/infiniti

Not so bad. Depending on how perfect you want it, you might just paint it without sanding. Problem is you CAN'T test the colors they have in stores without buying. You can get an idea from the cap color, but they do have that dark Al / gunmetal color.

If you sand, I like these: https://www.amazon.com/Dremel-511E-Coarse-Finishing-Abrasive/dp/B000FBF3OM/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1494880198&sr=8-10&keywords=dremel+sanding

Use blue painters tape to tape off any area you don't want to sand and also to keep the tire clean. I apply the paint with a fine brush, not spray.

I bought these LED's from Amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/7440-7441-T20-Bright-Signal/dp/B00N6CEGVI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420219286&sr=8-1&keywords=Pair+of+7440+7441+T20+Super+Bright+White+30w+LED+DRL+Signal+Break+Tail+Light+2014

Use this video to figure out how to get to the reverse lights:
http://www.carcarekiosk.com/video/2010_Infiniti_FX35_3.5L_V6/lights/reverse_light

I didn't see the video before I did the change and I messed up ALL 4 clips. (I was drinking / New Years Eve). Got inpatient and just removed with force.

Now I'm on a search to replace those 4 clips. Anyone know where I can get them cheap? I don't need a pack of 25 either.

As far as the LED light goes, VERY bright. At night, it's similar in brightness to lets say a fog light.....sorta.

The top of the LED light that you see in the album is actually a curved Glass/plastic that acts like a magnifying glass to .... magnify the light.

I have this one from Amazon and it works great. I'm no audiophile by any means, but I am quality conscious and I've never noticed any issues.

Edit: Just found this one which looks similar, is cheaper, and also has great reviews.

u/spicypancakes · 2 pointsr/infiniti

I have the K&N for an intake. It's fine. Honestly, no real difference. People seem to like the Takeda for a real CAI. The RC2 and the K&N are more ram air systems. Haven't heard too much on the tunes, but generally they're not too worth it unless you've done a bit of upgrades. Infiniti has done a fine job of safely tuning the engine to get the maximum power out of it.

>> which has very little visible in the windows so it doesn't ruin the look of the car

we are on the same track. 3 of the cars in my family are currently running blackvue 650 dualview. The image resolution and bitrate are not the best, nor their price. But I found it has high quality and slim body design. And I don't need a display on it as there is no need for it in my opinion.

For my current car, I have two VIOFO A119S one in front and one in back. First, their resolution and bitrate is very high, yet not the best. Second, they are only $100 a piece. Third, I didn't go single system dual setup is that all dual camera system sucks on the rear one. I found it equally important on the rear as the front. Forth, no longer need to run the power cable and video cable from the rear windshield all the way to the front. Last, it is designed so that to can still hide behind the rear view mirror even though it has a display.

If you choose one, don't forget to get the polarizing lens that designed for this camera.

amazon links (the price went up to $120 but still good)

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MFAK888/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MEI10I4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

btw, the difference between 119 and 119s is that 119 has wider view, but 119s has better low light image quality. I think both of them has already good enough viewing angle, so I went for 119s for better night image.

This is supposed to work

For some people, steering wheel controls work only when using Apple Music app but for some people they can even control Spotify, etc with the steering wheel controls. I emailed them and the 'owner' and I exchanged emails about this. She even said

>The truth of the matter is that for some customers the music info and steering wheel buttons do work with streaming sites and for some they do not.  It is difficult to know if this relates to the operating system being used by the customer or the cable that was installed in their particular vehicle.  From our perspective we try to under promise and over deliver if possible and consequently we cannot say for sure that this info and function will work for you.  It may very well not.

You also need this. They used to recommend a similar item made by CableJive and it was $20-30 in the past but went up to $60+ when I looked recently. They saw that too and looked at substitutes and she suggested this one.

For almost $100, I passed at the time but I might try it. They offer a 30-day return if I don't like it....

Yes. its an OEM replica. But black.

You can also purchase the midnight black grille, its an actual infiniti grille with black fins in the front. Its pricey however because its an OEM product and infiniti is not cheap.

https://www.amazon.com/Infiniti-Genuine-Factory-Original-MIDNIGHT/dp/B008B7LAXU

Thats the legitimate way to get a black grille. Plastidip if you want. But we drive midluxury cars, not old beater honda civics.
