As annoying as the floppy dongle would be, the 3.5mm solution is the most reliable one out there.

There are some models that, while they still stick out like a sore thumb, try to keep the package as compact as possible. Here’s one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00IQYC4R4/ref=psdcmw_9926003011_t1_B01KXIKCSI

This one has mostly positive reviews: https://www.amazon.com/KOKKIA-i10s-Black-Bluetooth-Transmitter/dp/B004SH40BQ/ref=pd_aw_sim_sbs_23_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=50TFZDWSC8SFYH43CC3B

This one supports aptX if you have compatible Bluetooth headphones: https://www.amazon.com/KOKKIA-Luxurious-Transmitter-authentication-receivers/dp/B008PWN0I4/ref=pd_aw_sim_sbs_107_3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=K15NQ502M06MZ4H9Y23F

There are tons of cables that do exactly what you're wanting. I use this one in my truck and it works perfectly. If you want, you can add a 30-pin to lightning adapter and use it for newer iPods and iPhones, too. If you want RCA instead of 3.5mm, a Google search for "30-pin to stereo RCA USB" will bring up lots more options.

I'm pretty sure he means the external ones with a lightning adapter like this one.

I would assume it would work for any device with a lightning connector. iPods just aren't a big market to bother listing them. ¯\(ツ)

I would recommend the iFlash Dual or Quad. The Dual fits 2 SD Cards, and the Quad fits 4 MicroSD Cards. I prefer to use these SD Cards: Patriot LX Series 128GB High... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PGL52SD?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share. I got my battery from iFixit but I think iDemiGods has some (always but the one for the model you have (30gb, 60gb, 80gb)). I bought my parts and tools from iFixIt and iDemiGods. For the iFlash, you can get it quicker from iDemiGods. Let me know how your modding goes and if you need help!

this works pretty well.

The microdrive can be replaced with a CF card (or SD to CF adapter). Just use some foam padding, like these mounting squares, to ensure it’s not moving around in there.

It can charge over USB. It’s actually the first iPod model that can charge over USB.

Buy a frame to get around the protrusion.

And you can remove the protrusion from the gen5 frame. But I wasn't sure if I might wanna use the gen5 frame and shell for another project. So I had another iPod that wasn't functional I got from a friend cheaply. And I used the frame from that iPod and built this around it.

Personally shipping speed was a big factor in my choices in parts. I didn't mind spending a little more so much as I didn't have to wait for parts from China. You can get this all cheaper elsewhere. I know the case is only a couple bucks from China.

However on the other hand. I paid for priority shipping from idemigods on the 6th. And the guy didn't send till the 13th. So. Don't recommend the site if you want it quickly these were just exactly the parts I purchased.

I also heard the 3k batteries are sometimes not so safe. So. Use at your own risk.

It's from the grounding. Something like this in line from your iPod to headphones should get rid of that.

I use this http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005BOMYWC?pc_redir=1398300891&robot_redir=1

Not a single issue, no static at all. I'm in PA and use station 95.1 if you google stations for FM transmitters in (your state here) it will give you a list of channels to use. This transmitter also has an aux input as well just in case you don't have a 30pin dock connector ipod.

Sansa Clip on Amazon. they go for around 25$ (us)

SanDisk Clip Sport 8GB MP3 Player with LCD Screen and MicroSDHC Card Slot- Black - SDMX24-008G-G46K (Certified Refurbished) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00N56U4WU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_aY7KAbZ6VBSNK

Yep that would be it. Real quick does this look legit to you. it's $3 less than sold straight from Amazon and you just have to wait until March 30th. I'm a little wary buying sd cards from anyone but Amazon. Is the risk not worth the $3.

Get that instead. cheaper, battery lasts over 100 hours on a charge and plays anything you can toss at it. Will play high impendence headphones and needs no pre amp. Uses micro sd cards so you can swap out music any time. Ipods other than the classic are more trouble than they are worth.

u/Grundy9137 · 1 pointr/ipod

This one.

I don't have one of those, I used the built in card reader on a 2011ish laptop
