It was a difficult choice for me to jump to the OP7 Pro, honestly. I really weighed what I was giving up and gaining between the two. The major points were:

  • Wireless charging. I had to realize I only wirelessly charged at night on my nightstand. I loved that option, but it wasn't sometime I had the ability to take advantage of regularly.

  • Expandable storage. I hate being limited to what comes on the OP7 Pro as far as storage goes, but I opted for the 12GB RAM/256GB storage option to help mitigate my storage loss (I had a 512GB SD Card in my V30 with less than half occupied). What I did gain is transfer speeds on the phone, though I haven't seen quite the increase over USB, but there are variables there I may not be accounting for.

  • Headphone jack/Quad DAC. I love having a headphone jack if for nothing more than the option to use it. I'm not an audiophile, but I liked the option of using wired headphones. To that end, I bought a USB C to 3.5mm adapter with a DAC built in ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07F2DTTGT/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_EUfVDbT3SZK54) to make up for the loss of it. I also realized I'm almost exclusively Bluetooth when I'm not at home or stationary elsewhere.

The smaller points were AOD, knock to wake (which the OP7 Pro has). There's no AOD proper, but it will display an AOD-like screen if you lift/move it.

All-in-all, I'm very satisfied with the transition, and I think it's a proper upgrade despite losing some features. But, everyone has their needs, and the V30 is still such a good phone that I fully understand your decision.

>When you say it messed up the screen a bit where they scratches or cracks?

Oh no when I said it messed up the screen I mean there were bright vertical green lines in the middle of the screen.

>After your repair and application of skin and screen protector you've had better luck?

I'd like to think so, but then again, I haven't had this phone be thrown directly at the sidewalk again so.. even then LG only chrage me $83 to replace the back glass and fix the screen :)

>Could you please share which skin and screen protector you use?

I just use the Spigen NeoFlex Screen Protector, it's a plastic film which you apply wet so that it'll cover the curves too. Aside from that, it fits great! No bubbles or any of that crap. As for the skin. I went the SlickWraps route and got a full skin. Install was a pain but my phone is now covered :).

> A lot of people have said that the screen protectors don't fit well, how is yours?

It fits perfect :). I couldn't care less about it not being glass. As long as it protects my screen from scratches I'm happy.

I can't seem to decide on a case and have eventually settled on switching between these two:

  • Black "shockproof" TPU silicone case
  • Black rough/matte TPU silicone case

Both are great for my use. I love the "shockproof" nature of the first case (read: has corner bumpers), but I prefer the rough/matte texture of the second. My ideal case would be a combination of both, as they're both slim while having a slightly raised front edge to protect the screen.

Note: The rough/matte texture maintains a really good grip on pocket lining/material and can be difficult to pull out of your pockets depending on how tight they are. Also, it appears to be a coating, as it's starting to wear off along the front of the top. Luckily they're inexpensive so I stocked up on replacements.

Currently using the Spigen Liquid Crystal Case and a screen protector that now has bad reviews even tho for me it's working amazing. Not sure what's about some tempered glass protectors, they seam to start with great reviews and end up with a lot of complains. Any ways here are the links for both. I'm not fully behind the tempered glass cus of reviews but Spigen has always been my go too for cases.

I've been using this one for a few years and it's perfect.

I have it on my bedside dresser and can just plunk it down and grab and go. The ones that lay flat you have to watch where you're putting the phone but this has 3 coils and the spot to put the phone is perfect for the V30. I've used it with S6/S7 edge/iPhone 8 and V30 all with cases and it works great.

Added bonus, if you use always on display it acts as a beside clock because the stand is on an angle.

This is the exact one I bought but only because I was able to get it the same day at the time I ordered it. This one is slightly less in price. It will likely still be locked to T-Mobile though. I was under the impression that MetroPCS worked on the T-Mobile service though? Did you even try the MetroPCS SIM card in it? Sometimes you need to do a factory reset while the SIM card is inserted for it to activate.

I ordered this case mainly because I'm pretty broke right now but just need a case ASAP before Friday. I like that it's slim but probably won't give a ton of protection like the OtterBox case but it's too bulky for my liking. It will at least have some grip to it and all the nasty fingerprints on the glass back won't be an issue anymore lol. I will definitely get a tempered glass screen protector next.

My wife get one to replace her G6. Yes it's big, but maan.. it is a really nice choice, beautiful screen, fast and snappy performance, droid9, 32MP main camera, 25w ultra fast charging. $460cad for the 128gb +free 128gb card.

In my experience, you don't need a big, bulky, expensive case like this to protect your phone. I always get as minimal as possible, and pair it with a good tempered glass screen protector. As long as you have some form of bumper protection, and you don't drop it from a very high distance, it should come out alright.

I've had this case on my HTC 10 with a tempered glass screen protector for over a year now and it's made out just fine, through a number of drops.

Granted, the LG V30 is essentially all glass. But I don't drop my phone too much, and my hands are too small to have a beefy case like that and still be able to use it functionally. So I'll be going in the same direction with this one protection wise, too.

Also, like nyanslider said, $60 is ridiculous for a case when there are other lesser known brands that make the same, if not better durability cases for a fraction of that. With Otterbox you're basically paying for the name.

You just need to mechanically adapt the prongs on the wall side of your charger block. You do not need to worry about anything electrical or electronic. Your LG charger can handle the all the different frequencies (Hz) and voltages used around the world. Not because LG is trying to help you out, it's just cheaper for them to produce one type of charger block than a different ones for each international standard. You can tell because it'll say something like "50-60 Hz, 100-240V". It just needs to fit into the wall socket in whatever country you are in.

So, yeah, but something like what /r/burakksglu suggests, although I bring something a bit more flexible to accommodate variations in prong configurations, including the third (ground) prong, like this:

Spec. The more drivers the better. See below. Now these are crap compared to the cans other people were posting for hundreds of dollars but i was happy with these for the cost.

I really like this case. Using a Spider-Man Skinit skin under it and it looks great.

u/JSwift25 · 1 pointr/lgv30

Agreed. I love their grip cases. I bought this case at Verizon and I love it. The lips on the case cover the screen entirely, not just the top and bottom like some cases (looking at you Spigen Neo Hybrid). Still looking for a screen protector.

u/skippybosco · 6 pointsr/lgv30

The LG v30 uses standard USB-C. There is no special adapter needed specific to LG.

You need to decide:

  1. do you want wired or wireless charging.

  2. do you want normal or fast charging.

I personally went with fast wireless charging and could not be happier. If that is something you're interested in you need to make sure you're using a 15w power adapter and a charging mat/stand that support it.

    This is a popular adapter:

I've used the $20 Unicorn Beetle Sup Case for my last 3 phones. I drop things pretty regularly because I'm awful and I've never broken a phone (iphones included).

Best thing is it comes with a screen protector built in. And wireless charging does work even with the case on.
My only critique is the phone is beautiful and the case covers all that beauty.

Sadly don't have Pie as I have the Sprint version :(

As far as a case I have both the bear motion and the mnml case. I like the mnml case much better than the bear motion case but both are not protective against drops, only scratches.

My favorite case with decent protection is probably the Supcase unicorn beetle. I have the black version but if you wanted something a bit less masculine then you could go with the blue and frost version.

If you want a clear case the Speck Presidio clear version is on sale for $6 on Amazon. (just bought it today so no idea if it yellows quickly or not.)

For not case its too slippery. also i use a case where i can prop the phone up. that is really useful when watching netflix. Use a case where you can pull the phone out on demand (https://www.amazon.de/ProCase-Kickstand-Kartensteckpl%C3%A4tze-Magnetverschluss-Schutzh%C3%BClle/dp/B07CQQNXNB/ref=sr_1_5?__mk_de_DE=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&keywords=amazon+case+lg+v30&qid=1569950363&sr=8-5 ). i do that when im playing pubg.
