Yes. Not just for this girl, but because you'll need to ask for what you want in life. Whether prom works out or not, you might as well start getting in the habit.

For this instance in particular, keep in mind -- prom is (ideally) about having fun. If you make it mean something more than that, she'll feel that pressure. The pressure of you wanting her to say yes, you wanting her to like you, you wanting her to be your girlfriend, etc.

Not that those are bad things to want, but they put pressure on the other person, and that can be uncomfortable if they're not yet ready to accept that.

On the other hand, if you invite her and she gets the feeling that it's going to be fun, she won't have to worry about breaking your heart if she says no, or that prom itself is going to be this huge, stressful situation (because so much is riding on it for you) it'll be much easier for her to say yes.

In that scenario, she only has to be responsible for herself -- she doesn't have to worry about you, and that's an attractive quality. Someone who's going to enjoy himself no matter what. No pressure.

Try to put yourself in the other person's shoes. That advice that'll serve you well throughout your life.

Edit: for the record, I posted this before the lasybugs thing took off

You're not going to make any great progress on a PC build for that price. Besides, PC tech is changing so quickly, you shouldn't buy any one piece of it until you can buy all of it.

If you're looking for X1 games, I'm a huge fan of Destiny, but it's not for everyone. If you're looking for more of a sure hit, check out Shadows of Mordor or Dragon Age: Inquisition.

If you want to change things up a little, here are some of my favorite purchases (I'm a minor Amazon addict):

I like the idea, but make sure you know (a) how much ink cartridge refills cost, (b) whether you'll be willing to pay for them going forward, and (c) how easy they are to obtain. If they're only available online, you may want to buy a few packs with your purchase of the pen so you don't have to worry about additional shipping costs when purchasing later. (Don't go crazy and buy a lifetime supply, though - sometimes they go bad/dry out after a year or two.) My experience with nice stationery and art supplies is that if they're too expensive and/or difficult to obtain, you won't use them for fear of wasting them. So make sure this won't be a problem.

If you can't find a pen you like that meets these requirements, I'd suggest buying a nice writing journal and a pack of several decent-but-not-luxury pens to use in it. (Assuming you want to stay on the writing theme.) I have one of these MUJI pens and it writes quite well.

Another less expensive pen alternative, if you're more of the old-school fountain pen persuasion, would be a stick pen with interchangeable nibs and ink bottle. It's honestly not very practical but it's pretty fun to write with.

A pocket knife is always useful. I'm fond of Kershaw, I like the leek a lot, but it doesn't fit in the $20 limit.

Maybe a Zippo if you don't already have one? Then you get to play around and do tricks with it. Which. after watching some of these videos I think I need to learn more of.

Along the lines of the Zippo, a new yoyo could be fun to pick up and learn some tricks on. I've read this yo yo manufacturer is amazingly good for how much they cost. Stick with either the T5 or the N9, they seem to be the favored ones from this company.

Maybe one of those will work, if not, books are always good. Have fun!

Backpack is usually your best option because it barely gets in your way as much as a hand bag plus your hands will always be free.

A good backpack with a laptop pocket and padding is the dakine campus 33 liter. You can find it on amazon for around $40. Link for the lazy[https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HMDLNZ4/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_-Q3Qub1KSBZY4]

This is also the backpack I use for my Chromebook and it fits very well

Audio-Technica has an excellent reputation - my husband just got the ATH-M50x (about $20 more than your budget) and the sound quality is just mind-blowing. They're also very comfortable, and have (get this) a removable cord - which is always the first to break on every pair of headphones I've ever owned, so that helps increase longevity. I believe there's also a slightly cheaper model without the removable cord but with equal sound/comfort quality.

Other than that - Sennheiser gets a lot of mention on Reddit, and rightly so. A couple of years ago I bought a pair for something like $35 (one of their lowest-end models) and the sound quality was noticeably better than $100+ Bose. The consensus seems to be that they're not as comfortable as Audio-Technica, however, and certainly my cheapie model was fairly uncomfortable. From what I can tell from reviews, Sennheiser tends to sit on the ear while Audio-Technica goes around the ear, which (for me) is much better.

Logitech M510 Wireless Mouse! I'm using M705 and it's really great, M510 seems nearly the same as mine, and mine fits my hand great.

You could get the hideous [2DS] (http://www.amazon.com/3ds-64-entertainment-system-wii-super/dp/B00EZPCX1A). It plays the same games as a 3DS while being cheaper, but no 3D as the name lends itself. But the 3DS is a pretty solid system with a good library. I don't think you'd regret buying one.

I have this one and it's really great. I have baskets on the top and bottom and hooks on the sides for the bags.
