  • Declutter what you can! I see my makeup organization as a display of my collection, and having things in there that I no longer use/like was a bit of a bummer for me. Of course, organization can be a way of making yourself use overlooked products, but for me, organization went hand in hand with my makeup rehab and forced me to really think about what I actually use and what I want to keep.

  • Office supplies make the best organizers. I particularly love the stuff I've picked up at target and ikea - very affordable, cute, and functional. Mugs and mason jars are also great for storing things like liquid lipstick and eyeliner.

  • For storing things like blushes and highlighters, this is the best purchase I've made (I keep lipsticks in there too): link

  • I keep my everyday "base" products all in one place so I can grab them easily and finish a look without having to scramble around looking through random drawers/compartments.

  • Store palettes like books - this helps keep them in my sight (so my palettes don't get neglected), as opposed to something like stacking them horizontally in a drawer.

You’re welcome! It’s a lot cheaper too, this is what I used. It’s super easy to work with, I’d just recommend using a box cutter or exacto knife. I love it so much, it makes my vanity feel more high quality and it’s way easier to clean. Please share your results if you end up doing it!

I know you said a ring light, but are you going to be setting her vanity up with a sizeable mirror? If so, you should consider strip LED lights. I use them on my vanity, and I've seen tons of others do so as well.

The ones I have come in a roll, are able to be cut to fit, have an on/off/dimmer switch, and are so bright!

There are also other versions that you can change the color of, are longer or shorter length, and are able to be joined together.

It really is a sleek look, and they're hardly noticeable when they're off.

I hope this is okay to suggest. I wish you luck! You're a great SO, and she's very lucky!

Thanks! I got it from amazon :) it was $90 when i got it but it’s on sale for $76! def recommend it if you are looking for a new mirror! it has 3 settings for the lights, warm, white, and neutral! link to get it here 😊

u/adietcoke · 5 pointsr/makeuporganization

I got it on Amazon.

Mirage Mirrored 2-Drawer Console Table

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004BSF7TQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_MI95ybCA1MA00

I feel like it's pretty good quality for the cost! Super easy to put together too (just screw on the legs).
The stool I got a couple of years ago, from maybe overstock?

u/Filmcricket · 5 pointsr/makeuporganization

Maybe these?

These are great if you can overlook that time the owner spewed a bunch of classist venom on customers for not liking her waffle iron or whatever it was. Idk bc she's irrelevant. But srsly great magnets!

These seem well loved and always intriguing to find products with such outdated packaging...bc they know the product is so good they knew they didn't have to bother with after 1967

hblife Clear Acrylic Compact... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C3VTMHF?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I got 5 of them on Amazon. They fit most bronzers, blushes, highlighters perfectly, but the PF Butter Bronzer is just a tiny bit too thick. It fits Colourpop Supershock cheek products. I love being able to open the drawers and actually see everything I own without having to rummage around

I actually had a big corner desk for my collection before I got my Alex drawers and those small plastic drawers from Walmart were a lifesaver! However since you are interested in going with the acrylic drawers, I would highly recommend them. They display your makeup beautifully. I got my large acrylic units from Amazon. They hold so much! I store my palettes in drawers but If you want them on display I like the idea of a wall mount or maybe a mail organizer.

If you're in the US Target will have letter sorters again in that...little $3 area at the front of the store. They come in mint, navy, and red. They are either $3 or $5, can't remember. They're a wire-based design so you can see through them and will be able to see your palettes. They don't seem to have them online. Also found this one on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Brands-Desktop-Letter-Sorter-Copper/dp/B01DMDZ1P0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1481286934&sr=8-2&keywords=wire+letter+sorter

Some other places you might want to check out if you have them near you are Marshalls/Homegoods/TJ Maxx as they'll pretty often have cool stationary items that make for great makeup organization!

This is an image-heavy album. I go through almost all my makeup. I listed what sales I got for a lot of stuff except for the lipstick, mostly for my own benefit.

Links for some of the stuff:

Desk, $50

byAlegory Honeycomb lipstick holder, $20

3 drawer acrylic container with top section, $12

4 drawer acrylic container with top section, $12 (I’m not using this top section)

Palette holder, $11

Q-Tip holder, $3 (mine came from Ali Express)

Cotton round containe, $3 (mine came from Ali Express)

Belle canvas, $40 for two

OttLite lighted makeup mirror, $40 Also comes in white. It is normally $100, but it goes on sale frequently. Watch for when they have it 60% off, then sign up for emails to get 20% which covers shipping. The mirror is great light-wise. The mirror itself falls forward frequently and drives me a little crazy. You can see I solved that with a hair clip in the very first image.

I replied to an above comment so here's the copy pasta

I actually made the big mirror myself from one I found at Walmart. I painted it then added these lights https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TQ0M9SQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_67pFyb6K8GS5X
I love it! I actually don't have any lighting at all in my bedroom so it does double duty as a makeup light and lamp.

As for the small it's supposed to be lighted as well, but the leds are weak and useless so I don't bother plugging it in. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LXOB7N4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_z9pFybQH57B0S
Other than that I like it pretty well.

A side note for the led strips. I used a double band and at the corners I just folded it to make a 90 degree angle and then superglued it down. Make sure you do not get waterproof strips!

u/computah · 4 pointsr/makeuporganization

This is the LED strip I used. Super easy to install! Just needed to find a 12v adapter to power it.

They have these on Amazon too. I got this one recently which is similar and cheaper as well as if you have Prime you would have free 2 day shipping. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078LSG5K2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/aelin_galathynius_ · 5 pointsr/makeuporganization

This is the palette divider

This is the one I use to separate brushes!

Both on amazon. The brush one has a back storage area where I put like blush palettes or whatever doesn’t fit in the other organizers.

The palette one is adjustable, so you can remove dividers to put more in one area.

OnDisplay Miro 3 Drawer Tiered Mirrored Glass Makeup/Jewelry Organizer - Rose Gold https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074HRWT7F/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_MHxZzbYPGDC6E

Something like that, I know painting won't get the mirrored finish but that's my inspiration.

Did you know Amazon will donate a portion of every purchase if you shop by going to smile.amazon.com instead? Over $50,000,000 has been raised for charity - all you need to do is change the URL!

Not OP, but have you tried a mail organizer/letter sorter? Like this or this?

u/Lady-Cassandra · 3 pointsr/makeuporganization

You could utilize the wall space on the left of the vanity. I have a set of these mounted next to mine that I keep palettes in: https://www.amazon.com/EasyPAG-Pocket-Hanging-Holder-Organizer/dp/B0718ZLH53/ref=sr_1_16y&sr=8-16

They actually hold a pretty decent amount. I like to change the contents out to rotate my collection every once in awhile.

u/samanthughh · 3 pointsr/makeuporganization

the three inserts i have in the lower right hand corner for blushes/bronzers/highlights are from amazon!! only 7.99 each, here's the link

Mind you I tossed the lids from the ikea organizers :)

Here you go! You will need two rolls, one won't be enough. Definitely look up contact paper corners trick on YouTube, it will help!

u/azor__ahai · 1 pointr/makeuporganization

I'm from Germany, but I think my father got them from OBI (a German DIY retailer). You can also get some on Amazon! They even have customer images from people who used them for their mirrors.

u/missgeeks · 2 pointsr/makeuporganization
