If you can, try grabbing one of those 5W or 10W chargers. Anker makes some great ones. They usually run about $10-$20 depending on the model (some are multi-port, some have fast charging, some have USB-C out, etc). I use this one and it works really well. You can also scroll halfway down the page to see the different models there are, too.

Basically, you make sure it have enough voltage to provide the appropriate power to the hub, then the amperage is almost like how many devices you can power at that voltage.
See what you think :)

Here are a few options:

I just bought this one

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0756XG67G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Used it the other night. It's bloody awesome. Sound is good, and the SNES Classic looked amazing on it.

Thank you for your help.

Could it be that my USB-Stick (SanDisk Cruzer 16 GB) wants too my power?

Would it be possible that the following cable helps me out?

Super newb here. I have a soldering kit but have never used it and dont know squat about it.

Would this breakout board work if you just use the corresponding pinholes to connect to the solder points on the motherboard? Or are the breakout boards for different kinds of motherboards?

Edit: nevermind I saw your answer to another poster about the same one. Thanks for putting up with us!

Now I don't know how you feel about a wireless option, but if you are already using the 8bitdo wireless adapters, there is a wireless transmitter. It's made for the switch, and it uses batteries, but it works pretty well. I haven't tested it on the SNESC, though. The nunchuck also works for it as an NES controller without a start or select.

I had some success with both the USB hubs I had lying around, just plugging them into my simple right-angled OTG adapter. But eventually it was clear that they were limited, probably because they needed to draw the power from the same supply as the SNES Classic. I bought this OTG hub instead, which works great. It has its own power supply, which then supplies the SNES Classic, and adds all the ports you need.

My monitor doesn't have a 3.5 out for sound, so I use something like this: https://www.amazon.com/J-Tech-Digital-Premium-Extractor-Converter/dp/B00BIQER0E/

It works well enough. I use it for all my hdmi devices: Wii U, PS4, Firestick, SNESClassic.

This is the actual one I bought:
https://www.amazon.com/ViewHD-Extractor-Optical-Toslink-Converter/dp/B00KBHX072
But the one I posted before has better review ratio.

My biggest complaint is that is plugs in with a powerjack that needs to take up multiple slots. It would be swell if it were USB powered. Let me know if you have any questions?

u/JW_Pepper_Sheriff · 3 pointsr/miniSNESmods

Yes. You'll need a multi port OTG. This model is tested and works. Others are flaky and cause data corruption with USB sticks. I'm testing a few less expensive models today but hopes aren't high for those.

Oh crap, thank you for telling me that. I had no idea that I would need something stronger. Is there any specific adapter you would recommend? I'm looking at an Amazon brand one that says 2.4 amps, so I assume that would be sufficient enough?

Pay $40 more, get the Nvidia Shield TV and you have probably the best emulation box available.

I use a Seagate Backup Plus portable drive.
There is a slight delay for the HDD to power up, but it works fine. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00G7LQA1E/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1518212065&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=seagate+backup+plus+slim+2tb&dpPl=1&dpID=31njL8rwUbL&ref=plSrch

Make sure you're running your SNESC from the power adapter and not from a TV USB port.

Also, check your OTG cable is working properly. I don't use those octopus style cables as I've had issues with them.

Or, you could go for a 3.5" one that comes with its own power supply.

Not all SD cards are created equal. Unfortunately due to limitations with the R16 CPU in the classics, some SD cards will cause the system to hang. I have wiped out the compatible microSD card list and have started fresh. I've only verified two so far that are compatible and remain stable:

32GB

64GB

Why is this the optimal button layout though?

Why is the dpad in the middle?

I don't know anything about the performance of this literal contoller, but this button layout makes sense to me: https://www.amazon.com/Brawler-64-Gamepad-Nintendo/dp/B078KHKHPX

This one :

Be careful. When it plugged in, micro usb does provide power only and data is USB-A.

CHENYANG CY 90 Degree Right

  • I'm using a Corsair GTX 256GB thumb drive, formatted with ext3.
  • For SNES roms I am using Snes9x 2010. Hakchi2 converts the snes roms, I replace these with the original versions directly in the hakchi2 games_snes folder.
  • All roms, images, and archives have no spaces and only use alpha-numeric characters.

I have the following emulators working.

  • snes9x
  • fba/cps2 with neogeo and capcom games
  • mame2003
  • PCSX ReARMed
  • Genesis Plus GX (including sega cd)
  • pc engine (including cds)
  • pc-fx
  • yabause (but it runs horribly)

I’ve done the full factory reset.

This is my otg, and the flash drive is a sandisk cruzer glide 128gb. I power the system by flipping the power switch.

I did both tests with otg plugged in without flash drive and micro usb plugged directly to the system and they boot up in 13 seconds.

There could be some hmods that are conflicting with boot times. I will try again later today.

i had the snes plugged in to a non working port on my PC..... i feel really stupid now.

i did all the steps again. i get the hakchi splash screen then my original 21 games. i just tried one game and altered the desktop file to use var/games/ instead of usr/share/

im starting to wonder if my adapter doesnt work. i bought the right angle adapter that i saw on a youtube video https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M7XQ6O2/

EDIT I just tested the pins on the adapter, power and data are passing thru. there is no reason this is not working!!
