I’m in Canada and the one I got is called: Yostyle Sleep White Noise Machine Update Version 26 Natural Sounds Therapy for Baby, Adult, Office, Relaxation and Travel, Auto-Off Timer, Sound Conditioner
Link:
Yostyle white sleep noise machine

Is what I got, but tbh I can hear a looping sound on some of them but this would be great because it has a larger variety of white noises and other nature sounds and I kind of wish I’d ordered this one instead:

MOICO

And a final one worth looking at:

Housbay

I have the Bose QC25s. They’re a god send. Also, if you have a wired pair and want Bluetooth this adapter is great. You can’t even tell the adapter isn’t a part of them. Like the above, I’ll sometimes use them without music. If something is REALLY loud, I play brown noise through them.

I use these pink and yellow ones. They’re soft enough for me to wear and expand in your ear to provide good relief. I can’t sleep in them for long (only like an hour) but short term they’re great.

I do use my noise maker but no matter how loud it is it doesnt drown out the sound unless I use headphones lol but I did find these http://www.amazon.com/AcousticSheep-SleepPhones-Wireless-Headphones-Medium/dp/B00EZ4L5GU though. they are bluetooth and look comfy to sleep in. maybe as a christmas gift to myself lol

u/alexss3 · 2 pointsr/misophonia

I really like these:

https://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDRXB950BT-Extra-Bluetooth-Headphones/dp/B00MCHE38O

They are bluetooth, have built-in controls, microphone, excellent bass, and when you turn them even halfway up it drowns out a heck of a lot of noise. I also find them to be pretty comfortable for many hours of wearing during a work day.

IEMs look like hearing aids you could tell people they are ;) There are inexpensive make-you-own custom molded earplug kits that come in many colours for like $10 on amazon (examlpe: https://www.amazon.com/Radians-CEP001-Custom-Molded-Earplugs/dp/B003A28P4I). If you search howto make custom IEM or custom earplugs on youtube there are a ton of good videos.

I have a big fan in my room that I use at night. I used to only use it during the summer because it was hot, but now I use it everyday. I just don't point near myself.

If you get a a decent one, it should be a nice source of whitenoise. It's just constant ... noise. I know you said your own fan makes a ticking noise, but if you get a decent one, it shouldn't do that. Like one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Lasko-3520-Cyclone-Pivoting-Floor/dp/B000VZRUIO/ref=sr_1_32?ie=UTF8&qid=1420044092&sr=8-32&keywords=lasko+cooling+fan+3+speed

I have that one and it's been running for 8+ hours a day for the past three years and it still works great. It's loud enough to block out nearby noises but quiet enough to be unnoticeable unless you purposely listen for it.

u/Cheshamone · 3 pointsr/misophonia

+1 to this. I recently bought these—they're not noise cancelling but they cut noise like crazy and they're super comfortable.

u/PerpetualMonday · 3 pointsr/misophonia

I know you're looking for a fan too, but this white noise machine my gf got me a couple years ago is amazing. I use it constantly, even when not sleeping, to drown out outside noises. One of my worst triggers are noises that come from outside my room; this thing masks them perfectly.

u/Jennrrrs · 2 pointsr/misophonia

I've only used disposal ones, so I can't really answer that but I do wanna say I just switched from Mack's pink ones to Heroes Xtreme protection and felt a huge improvement. They didn't fall out, blocked more noise, and the box has 100 pairs so I don't care about losing some.

Earplugs and earbuds with memory foam tips should be sufficient if she's not yelling. Roll them between your finger tips, open your jaw like you're yawning (optional but sometimes gets a better seal), insert in ear canal, hold until you feel it fully expand.

These are industrial grade earplugs which I always use when I travel: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DKVWC4Z

Noise canceling headphones do not block human voice. It might even make the voice more prominent as it will silence any low frequency building noise.

Spending 6-14 hours a day on video games sounds like an escape from an unwanted reality. Having to listen to someone constantly talking when one's trying to study is maddening misophonia or otherwise.

Thanks. When I saw your description and that you gave a link, I was expecting some fancy, expensive ones (maybe like these). Your suggestion isn't like that, though. How durable are they (eg, do they start to crack after a while like the cheapo sponge ones or get permanently squished too quickly)?

I've seen that kind (bell shaped, multi-coloured) around but don't know if they're Howard Leight. Do you (or anyone) know if the Howard Leight's are the ones to look for or are similar ones okay, too?

Cool username, BTW.

Haha, this is one of the most relatable posts. I've got a cheap pair of Anker bluetooth headphones, cost like £15 off Amazon. I'd recommend them. But yeah, there's always that 60 seconds of panic when the crinkling of a crisps bag starts, and I gotta quickly load up spotify, turn on headphones, sync up, and pray it does so ASAP.

You're probably American, so here's the .com link:

Hi!

This is the one I've been using.

Best of luck!

u/Deathnerd · 2 pointsr/misophonia

I use just a standard Lasko box fan in my current room. Back when I was relegated to a desk fan, the black Honeywell fans are awesome machines that won't break the bank.

u/lebaneseblondechick · 2 pointsr/misophonia

That's my answer too. I know that humans have the ability and consciousness to control their mouths when eating, ie MANNERS, but animals do not have the same awareness of themselves, so it's excusable. I love feeding my cat a tube treat and hearing his little licks and smacks, but so help me gods, if I hear a human chew with too much saliva in their mouths I lose my cool.

u/coconutscentedcat · 1 pointr/misophonia

Hmm thanks for the reply. Yea I tried headphones and it's an awful way to sleep. Earphones are ok... but I may try this:

Looks like neat idea.

The bose ones I have are discontinued now but they make a newer model. They are also expensive, about £200 UK but I tried a few different types in the stores and they had the most effective Noise Cancelling
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bose-QuietComfort-Cancelling-Discontinued-manufacturer-Black/dp/B00D429Y12

The Earmuffs are Peltor 3M Optime III £18
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000VDX18E/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I also use Leight laser light foam earplugs which are cheap and effective and handy if you have small ear canals

u/GrandMoffFartin · 3 pointsr/misophonia

Thanks for this information. Just to put this out there you can get much cheaper versions of sleepphones. I'm not sure if the ones you mention do anything special but I couldn't find anything about it on their site.

I've recently switched to the following sleep headphones with sleep buds (it's very noisy).
