This is the #1 complaint for movies based on books.

I just don't even bother. The book is an inspiration for a movie. Often a book can take 8-40 hours to read. movies are 90-120 minutes. There will always be differences.

But anyway, yes the book and movie are very different, but they are both awesome, and I think the movie did a pretty great job adding some zing while retaining the basic framework and attitude.

Oddly enough, if you read, and like starship troopers, a couple of the Halo books are pretty good, and sort of a similar story. (super suits & scary aliens)

Well that part is just physics

Here is a great book I can recommend. It's more about the psychology of the driver, but does a great job to explain the basics of physics.

I said I was glad my little frog personification made him/her smile, then posted a link to the frog so they could get their own and smile every time they do the dishes. But it was an affiliate link so I’d earn a couple cents for my effort, I guess they didn’t like that. Here’s the frog: https://www.amazon.com/Scrubby-Non-scratch-Scrubber-Boston-Warehouse/dp/B000I1UR7M

The arm ones are one of the worst, unless its something like a puddle jumper. which are USCG approved. Basicly, you want something that can't deflate, and if the kid is totally unconscious will float with their head out of the water. If you go unconscious with just the arm band things, at best your arms will float nicely while your head is still under the water.

I recommend seeing a psychologist in your area. I can't say much for certain without doing any tests in person. However, there is a lot of treatment for PTSD (if that's what you've got) that isn't drug based. As far as what you can do to be proactive, I suggest looking into mindfulness/meditation.

Here's a short article about mindfulness to get you started:
http://sklatch.net/thoughtlets/awaken.html

And I recommend getting a book on meditation, this is a good author (there are a lot of people who write on meditation who are not adequately trained, this lady is a proper Buddhist monk):

https://www.amazon.com/How-Meditate-Practical-Making-Friends/dp/1604079339

Also, she is a Westerner who became a monk after a huge trauma in her life. So she understands Western problems when approaching mindfulness and meditation, as the problems can be unique to our minds. However, it's important to get your information about mindfulness and meditation from actual practicing Buddhists, because mindfulness is a Buddhist practice dating back thousands of years and perfected through their very specific techniques and ways of seeing reality.

Heh, what is a "non-racing fan"? "Whoo-hoo, I'm a fan of these dudes not-racing!" ;)

Pick up Driving with the Devil, amazing book!

Phrasing!

Edit: Okay, I think I was just happy to see my first Archer reference of the day. I'll try again.

Do they make Quietus for elk?

Or you could just get one of these for less than ten bucks. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00D2K367Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_82kLDb5XJP83Y7

I have them on my doors. They're really solid. I just use them at night, gives me a little more peace of mind. I live in a safe neighborhood, but one night a few years ago there was a crazy drugged-out guy breaking into homes with the families asleep inside, just looking for money I guess, but still. Obviously he got caught pretty quickly but with young kids at home I decided that I should reinforce my doors somehow.

That book is a killer. I own a copy, but I really don't want to reread it.

Another good book about family that is really emotional is Untouchable by Scott O'Connor. I am surprised it isn't more well-known.

You can literally measure it, and people have. They make air filters specifically designed to catch smoke. See here.

A smoke buddy type device would probably be best and that's contigent on you actually exhalling all/most of your smoke through it.

The bottom line is that if you've smoke weed before you're probably gonna be able to ID it when you smell it, on top of that these tricks are ad old as time. Finding a sploof is basically the same as finding weed to someone who knows what they're looking it.

Mine was like that for a long time, but I guess the new pill pocket thingies we got are too good to resist. She usually just gloms it down in one piece, anyway. Only complaint is that these are super hard, unlike some of the others, and it can be difficult to get the pill in one piece.

u/jonnyrocket · 3 pointsr/nonononoyes

You don't need to use studs anymore. 4 of these guys and you can hang 75 lbs off of drywall. I've hung two 3 screens recently this way, works great. The two most recent were 55" samsungs and they only weight about 35 lbs a piece.

It might just be hard to get the leash unhooked from the collar when the elevator is pulling it against gravity so hard. Throwing your weight on it is gonna help the initial tugh on your pooch but at some point you'd have to stop the thing.

I guess ideally you'd have some sort of collar you could just yank right over their head like one of these bad boys, but I'm sure not every dog's head is small enough to slide out without unclipping theirs :/

u/blankblank · 4 pointsr/nonononoyes

I have this little rearview mirror that clips onto my glasses when I bike. It's pretty dorky looking and people have told me that 'real bikers' don't use them.

But, once you get used to it, it's like having eyes in the back of your head. I feel naked without it.

That's why I everyday carry this knife. There's definitely better ones out there with similar features, but I got this one for 5 bucks and can't complain.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME FOR YOUR KIDS!!!!! Ok now that I got this out of the way, this game sucks and will cause more frustration than you can imagine. IF you can get the person to release the grip on the bar you have maybe a 1% chance of landing. Read the reviews on Amazon and don't take them lightly I told my kids before I got it for them that nobody likes it online and they still wanted it and after they got it they agree that it's really bad.
