Yeah, this is a great source for info on the Stooges. The Best of Punk Magazine by John Holmstrom also has some great pieces on Iggy and the Stooges as well. Both Legs McNeil and John Holmstrom were involved in creating Punk Magazine.

American Skin by Don Degrazia

American Skin: A Novel https://www.amazon.com/dp/0684862220/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_hAHmxbB22J6A9

It's about being a young skinhead in Chicago. It's kinda fucked up, but a very good, and easy read.

Also anything by Aaron Cometbus

DOUBLE DUCE https://www.amazon.com/dp/086719586X/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_7CHmxb6Q25WF6

Double Deuce is my favorite, but it's about being punk in the 80s/90s in California's Bay Area.

> Never bothered with Avail but every time I hear a track I love it, it just never occurs to me to listen at my own free will.

Check out Over the James remastered, that one is a classic IMO

Sorry, yeah hard drive not disc drive lol. I'm not exactly techno-savy. But yeah since the iPod Classic got discontinued I don't know of any large mp3 players. If you like the iPod Touch besides the glitches I'd just go for the largest iPod Touch available.

It seems like the trend in tech right now is to do away with separate mp3 players and phones, and that really sucks. Best of luck. If you really really don't want an Apple you could go out and get a [FiiO] (http://www.amazon.com/Fiio-X1-FiiO/dp/B00NS3MRKC/ref=sr_1_11?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1422742729&sr=1-11&keywords=mp3+player#customerReviews) or something. There are some that are just players and you load up SD cards with music and put them on the player

The Vandals have one (which is actually pretty stupid)
Oi To The World
Weezer has one, which is pretty awesome
Christmas With Weezer

My entire concert going friend group endorses these plugs. They preserve the music quality very well (worn from punk, to metal, to techno-right-by-subwoofer moments) and come with two sets of plugs of different loudness reduction. The music quality thing is no joke, it's really had to make cheap, good earplugs because humans interpret the same frequency at different volumes as different loudnesses.

I don’t know much about it but I’ve been meaning to buy a new book all about punk in Russia. It’s called “What About Tomorrow” and I really want to read it because I’m obsessed with punk and Russia. Perfect combo. Here’s the link if you’re interested.

I really liked the 33 1/3 book about Ramones by Nicholas Rombes. It's part of a series of books about individual albums, and this one focuses on the cultural context of the 1970s American punk movement and the Ramones' role in it. I do wish Rombes had discussed the songs on the Ramones' debut album a little more, but what is in the book is still fascinating.

People keep spewing this bullshit. Are people not aware you can look stuff up?? Come on man, just look this stuff up before you say it.

Do a quick google search. Find a media duplication company that does both:

duplication.ca: CDs $970 for 1000, $1890 for the equivalent in cassettes. Tapes are double the price.

Feel free to search all you want, every company is going to be roughly the same.

But lets say those people want a DIY approach.... CDs are less than 1/4 the cost of tapes:

100 blank tapes ($79) + 100 tape cases ($96) puts tapes at $1.75 each to produce.

100 ink jet printable CDs ($19) 100 pack of CD jewel cases ($19) puts CDs at $.38 each to produce.

I have a book about the three of them called "Your Pretty Face is Going to Hell." It's great.

Punk House is a pretty entertaining photo book about... well, punk houses. The house I used to live in is in there, too, so that's cool for my nostalgia.

Joy Division took their name from the forced prostitution ring in House of Dolls

Ian can be heard reading from the book in No Love Lost

Through the wire screen, the eyes of those standing outside looked in
At her as into the cage of some rare creature in a zoo.
In the hand of one of the assistants she saw the same instrument
Which they had that morning inserted deep into her body.
She shuddered
Instinctively.
No life at all in the house of dolls.

Edit: fixed reference to actual song.

My pleasure! I saw it a while back, right after reading this book!

We got the Neutron Bomb is a pretty good read on some LA shit. This one is more on LA, but is focused on Darby and the Germs. Decline of Western Civilizations and Suburbia are two movies by Penelope Spheeris that can supplement both of those books.
