It's not so much she didn't get the straight jacket joke, it's just how airheaded she was. I mean, if she was a regular person but was sorta out of it then thought "OH ok lol" then that'd be different. But she was straight up like "I don't know what that is in 2019" situation.

Are you using a book of some sort?

I learned when I was little by using a book similar to these:

1 2

Seriously, no matter what type of stuff you want to be able to draw, from scenery to cityscapes to still lifes to people, get a book similar to the ones I linked. Getting a good grip on shading, perspective, and general "drawing boxes correctly" is the best place to start.

The best thing to do is to draw everything very lightly. Sometimes I'll go over a line ten different times before it's the right shape I need it to be. Then you just erase all the extra that didn't work right.

Just don't let it stress you out too much, as I'm assuming you're doing this as a hobby and not for work or anything.

Come over to /r/sketchdaily to try to get some more practice in too. Every day a new prompt is posted. If you like drawing people, you could also go to /r/redditgetsdrawn for more practice.

Magsafe was honestly a great little feature for Apple laptops. Especially given the frequency if someone tripping over the cable and tearing a couple thousand dollars of tech off the table.

I know it's frustrating having to spend more but I've found this product a lifesaver for me:

https://www.amazon.com/MagJet-Magnetic-Reversible-Compatible-Devices/dp/B079PYZJ2B/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1540710315&sr=8-4&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=magsafe+usb-c&dpPl=1&dpID=4191ggjm9JL&ref=plSrch

I know it's not at all thrilling having to spend more cash when you've already spent so much on a product but this has honestly been a great thing for me. There are a myriad of similar products if this one is not for you (and cheaper as well) just wanted to lend this out to you to help, if even a little.

Have you read Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes by Chris Crutcher? It's a hella good novel about two teenagers who grow apart, one a bit more drastically than the other.

I think that you should give it a read. If nothing else, it may help you see your friend's side a little better. And/or, it'll be cathartic for you.

As a former skin care specialist (cough) I can tell you this is due to the oils in your skin.

Try this: http://www.amazon.com/Saf-T-Tape-Sticky-Gauze-Yards-Green/dp/B000PDNXT2 Sticks to itself, not yourself.

(Or its variants). Good luck!

>that’s why they’ve denuclearized like 3 separate times now right?

How many times did they denuclearize in the last 50 years?

>Trade wars with our allies is objectively one of the fastest ways to piss off our allies. Guaranteed.

I don't care about our allies if they can't handle reciprocal tariffs. Same way they can't pay their shares of NATO or rise up to the Paris Climate Accord they all agreed to

>Trump winning the RNC isn’t a measure of his political negotiation skills. That’s just appealing to the largest portion of the stupidest population in the country.

So if it was so easy why didn't 16 of the RNC candidates do it after being in politics their whole lives? Your logic is only consistent in that it's completely inconsistent.

>Blaming Obama by citing a quote. Neato.

Correct, a quote where Obama claims that there's no way to rig an election, right before he flip flopped and began accusing Trump of rigging an election. Who was in control of the intelligence at the time Trump was still a candidate? (hint: It was Obama)

>If that were even remotely true, start your own investigation. You could have done that at any point in the last 2 years, that it hasn’t happened should tell you that they can’t. But that would require logic.

Why would Trump do that when he can wait for Mueller to come out with the report finding Trump didn't collude, and then start doing his own investigations? Meanwhile while Trump has come out on top of you clowns every time, there have been people doing that investigation. Although I know how people like you work, and you'll simply refuse to accept new facts that go against your views.

Oh and there's a sequel coming up

https://www.amazon.com/Exonerated-Failed-Takedown-President-Donald/dp/1642933414/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_14_t_0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=EJCR20TMJYACQC2EJFGQ

Oh look that same ex-secret service member who wrote the books on the collusion between the Obama admin and foreign/domestic intelligence also has a daily podcast where he covers these same topics. Bet you will never allow yourself to listen to it

lol

you know what would be interesting? what would happen if you moved around the world, where the time matches your inner clock.

I really recommend this book for you, it's not a self help book but a brilliant scientific (yet fun) read: http://www.amazon.com/Internal-Time-Chronotypes-Social-Youre/dp/0674065859/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1417191044&sr=8-1&keywords=till+roenneberg

Amazon Link for Floss picks

I would suggest something like this, until you become used to flossing more often. You essentially just need to shove string inbetween your teeth and pull it out.

Don't bother with a mirror just do it by feel. Make sure to wash your hands first also. =)

u/[deleted] · 3 pointsr/rant

Well, that's complicated. The way to learn how to do things is by reading. For your particular situation I'd recommend this book. It'll give you kind of a starting point for self empowerment, which is really what you need.

You might also consider reading about internal versus external locus of control. Your life has lent itself so far to your having an external locus of control. If you could change that you'd find your emotional state vastly improved.

Fuck, what an asshole. 😂 I hope you calmly confront him each and every time this happens. Try a fan in your room to block out the noise. And even hang a cheap, thick rug to the back of the door using those sticky hooks. Also, get a security bar for your door if he’s barging in. And maybe try to break the vacuum somehow, lol!

https://www.amazon.com/Master-Lock-Security-Adjustable-White/dp/B0002YUX8I

I used to live with very asshole in laws. Spent a lot of time at matinee movies...

u/InTheMotherland · 6 pointsr/rant

Personally, I don't like gloves because they get in the way of gripping the bar. I would recommend letting the callouses grow a little more and your hands getting used to them. Then, start cutting down the calluses with a razor once they no longer hurt and are no longer red. It'll make lifting easier in the end.

However, if you do feel like getting gloves, get some like this or this. These have limited padding on the palm, which is better for when you start lifting heavy. Having your hand to far open around the bar makes it harder to hold.

You can buy an SATA reader and pull the HD out and hook it up to a friends computer to pull off what you have. They cost $30+ for a good one.

here is one for $20

But don’t you have a warranty? Always get a warranty they are usually cheap.

u/ShadowL42 · 5 pointsr/rant

point out to the roomate that "even though everyone else has them in the air, they are NOT over the sink" then get a crate or free standing shelf like this if he wants it "up in the air"

"Extremely rare and valuable instrument"? Dude, it's a sharpener. This diamond one costs less than 10 bucks: https://www.amazon.com/DIAMOND-SHARPENING-STONE-double-MEDIUM/dp/B000TY15AQ

There are a number of pay-offs that have nothing to do with the social media for which Japan is popular in the West.

  • Learning a foreign language can decrease the likelihood of dementia later in life.
  • Intimate exposure to a radically different culture results in a well-rounded personality, and is facilitated by a study of the language as well as a physical presence (I will spend two semesters studying in Japan, beginning this autumn). The Japan I've encountered through books such as The Japanese Mind and Japanese Culture has little in common with anime and manga. It's a culture in many ways removed from my own, something I find alluring in the sense of a potential means by which to further develop as an interculturally aware human.
