Razer Blades are imo the best all around laptop. Great power and portability. I have a 2018 model, but as much as I love it, I'm sad to tell you, don't expect a lot of gaming on it. Don't get me wrong, it has the power and capability in every way even with just a GTX 1060, but it gets HOT. Of course also keep in mind, this isn't just a Razer Blade thing, but rather just a thin laptop thing. You'll get it no matter what notebook you buy unless you are okay with inch and a half thiccness, and even then, it doesn't rival desktop temps. I've had my Razer Blade for almost 5 months now and I love it, but I'm saving for a desktop now. I won't be getting rid of the Blade since it's great for on the go work, but I truly believe that for the most part, for everyone, desktop is endgame for any kind of workflow/gaming setup.

And if I'm honest, the laptop stand and headphone stand are overpriced for a bit of chroma lighting. I guess I don't have a suggestion for a headset stand, but the laptop stand, I got on Amazon for $16 and it fits my Blade perfectly.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073573XH7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also not sure why you have a copy of Windows listed there, the laptop comes with it. I also recommend for a laptop setup, you should get a wireless mouse. So much less hassle. I have the Razer Atheris and I love it. As for backpack, take a look at the Herschel Pop Quiz. MKBHD did a tech bag vid a while back and said good things about it so I bought one and I l o v e it. Fits the 15 in. Razer Blade like a cushiony glove. I also have a Razer Blackwidow Elite which I love. I see a lot of hype with these new 65% keyboards with no number pad and I don't understand it. Number pad is where it's at.

First of all some things to point out.

  • On Amazon. Pay the $10/month for Amazon Prime, then cancel the monthly subscription, make sure to say "Keep benefits and End subscription". This way you get free- 2-day shipping for a whole month and hassle free returns. If anything goes wrong, return shipping is fast and free, as soon as Amazon Warehouse gets the defective item they will ship a new one out to replace you (within 30 days of purchase).

  • Many horror stories from buying off Razer Store. Personally haven't had issues as I got my Razer Man of War from Razer Zone, I have had no issues. I even though I bought it on the day it was released, I treat it like a toy. Headband still as strong as a Sol Republic Anti break Headband.

  • Just for your reference, on Amazon in late-2016 I bought my Razer Blade 14" GTX1060, i7-6700HQ, 16GB RAM, with a 512GB NVME SSD for $1999 + $183 TAX and 2-Day Prime Free Shipping. The exact same blade now costs $2,199.00 (Does not include TAX). The more recent Blade 14" i7-7700HQ (more CPU efficient) is $2,089.00 (does not include tax). So compare prices when Shopping. Max storage is 512GB.

  • There is a 4K Touchscreen RazerBlade 14" 512GB ($2,399.00) and a 4K Touchscreen RazerBlade 17" 512GB ($3,999.00). Both have a Maximum screen resolution of 3860x2160 pixels which sounds perfect if you want smooth scaling.

  • You can reduce the price for a few hundred bucks if you reduce the 512GB to either a 256GB SSD but i don't recommend it. It is possible to upgrade the M.2 NVME SSD, but it's much cheaper to have it in the same package rather than buy seperately.

  • Don't misunderstand, the Razer Stealth is amazing if all you are doing is "light" coding and Internet Browsing. I mean hell, it'd make a great back-to-school gift for pretty much any class if you don't game on it. Amazon lists it at $1399 for a Core i7-7500U (7th gen) with 16GB of RAM and a 256GB NVME SSD.

Cool Stuff if you wanna compare the i7-6700HQ versus the i7-7700U. TL;DR: i7-6700HQ is great for multitasking and multithreaded applications. The i7-7700U is good for single threaded performance.

The dual core is great for low intensive computing. But the bottleneck is real.

If there's any thing I learned from my days of coding, a good CPU and lots of RAM goes a long way. CPU allows the code to be crunched faster and the RAM gives more buffer room for more things to happen in memory. Though the RAM is just there as buffer to keep the code from crashing the comp.

Either way, happy shopping. I love my Razer Blade 14" and i plan on buying a 1TB M/2 NVME upgrade soon. ~$460 for double the Storage.

That is my opinion as it is the one I liked the best. I have been gaming exclusively with it lately in order to push it to high temps/stress to make sure nothing is wrong with it while still returnable. The 1060 gpu does great with games like R6 Siege (both 1080p and my 1440p monitor). It can also play Ghost Recon Wildlands well at 1080p, but can't really push my 1440p display.

My long term usage plan will be to mainly use this as a work machine (vpn connections into VM's) along with a gaming machine when traveling for work. I have a gaming desktop that I will soon go back to using at the house.

Like I said I ended up getting mine open box from Amazon Warehouse Deals since the price was around 25% off and you have the ability to ship it back for free if anything is wrong with it.

Here is a link to their stock for the 512gb 1080p model: https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B01N9SSQ9E/

If I was buying new I would have gotten from the Microsoft store as their student discount gives 10% off. Just google "microsoft store student discount" and you should be able to find a link that lets you pick a school for the savings. They give free shipping and free returns to either a physical store or through mail.

If you have any other questions feel free to message me. Also one thing to note is that you cannot turn the green logo light off on the 1080p model. I ended up getting a black matte Dbrand skin that hides the logo. I only did this because I work in a corporate environment and being I use this for work I figured it would be unprofessional in meetings. I used dbrand.com/linus to give Linus Tech Tips credit as they have done some great Blade reviews. Linus uses the 4k touchscreen model.

The webcam cover is a STEAGLE1.0 mini and it just barely fits onto the bezel with a tiny bit of the screen covered. If it was about half a mm smaller it would be perfect, but this will have to do because I can't easily reuse the tape that can cover the webcam since the bezel is quite small. Both the Windows Hello feature and the webcam work perfectly although the aperture is slightly covered for both. You can see the green camera light is on if the cover is closed, so you can tell if your webcam is being accessed. Overall I would recommend it, but it likely will scratch the anodization off the bezel after prolonged usage since I think I see faint scratches from use right after the install, but I don't think it will touch the metal surrounding the trackpad (Apple calls this the "top case"). This is the one I used (not an affiliate link) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MSINXQ6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and this is the name of it so you can type it into your browser yourself if you wish: STEAGLE1.0 Mini (Black) Laptop Webcam Cover for Privacy Shield

Hopefully this helps other Razer owners as I couldn't find any information about which one to purchase.

Sacrifice quality? Not necessarily, let me link you some of the keyboards i was looking at. You would lose rgb but gain real mechanical switches not rubber dome switch with mechanical like feel.

Logitech g610 white led cherry mx red

Logitech g410 tenkeyless rgb romger g

Corsair k63 tenkkeyless red led cherry mx red

Qisan white led gateron browns
Ive had the tenkeyless version of this keyboard for 2 years now. Still going strong but as my dads keyboard now.

REFURBISHED: Razer Blackwidow x rgb doesnt list the switch but its mostly likely razer green Dont know if you care about refurbished or not but i listed one just in case you dont

u/jnortell · 2 pointsr/razer

Personally use this one

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CG6FFKF

Really like it because the rubber grooves at the top fit the little bench foot on the bottom of my blade perfectly and the exhaust fans are completely uncovered. (I line the foot up behind the top groove of the rubber instead of the middle to have the exhaust fans completely exposed.

I bought some dual bearing fans to attach to the bottom and after benchmarking, even with the two fans lined up exactly with the intakes on the bottom of the chassis, I actually got 2-3C better temps without the fans, regardless of what speed setting. Seems like the cooler/vapor chamber is more effective on it's own.

Hope this helps fellow gamer

Edit: I have the mercury white version so the stand matches, not sure if it's available in black or not.

Late 2016 Razer Blade non-4k here.

As far as durability, I'd say it's easily up there with Macs. It's built very solidly and has held up being thrown around my backpack easily. I haven't abused it too much though because it's still my baby. No hardware issues.

I love the design of it. Very sleek and definitely an eye-catcher. The keyboard is one of the best laptop keyboards available and the size means it's not too hard to pull out bus or car ride. You don't want to play intensive games while it's on your lap because your legs will block the downward fans, but that's the same with any laptop. Pick up one of these and you'll be fine.

Definitely worth the price for me as a student who needs to bring my laptop with me to and from school but wants to still be able to play games on the go.

u/stonevil · 3 pointsr/razer

Traveling a lot. Using this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077NDWBJT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Simple. Stable. Very well done. Evaluate notebook enough to make typing and playing more comfortable. Also help with cooling. Make fans work easier. And slim and light to carry on.

u/strumpy_strudel · 8 pointsr/razer

>Even some keyboard key become too hot to touch.

Yep, sounds like a Razer! Welcome to the Cult!

Actually, in all fairness, my early-2019 RBA15 RTX 2080 is pretty decent with thermals. The late-2016 Razer Blade Pro GTX 1080 was hot trash and had this issue. Keys got so hot you couldn't touch them and it would shut off after about 30-45 minutes of gaming. Had to take it apart, repaste, undervolt, etc.

At any rate, this is the stand I use:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DJ6ZSGH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Cheap and fits in a laptop bag for when I travel and feel like playing something. I haven't seen a shred of evidence that suggests anything with a fan cools any better than just a simple stand to promotes airflow. Its not like the external fans magically force more air into what the intake fan's RPM permits.

Second, you might want to consult one of these guides to get your laptop running cooler. It is what I had to do with 2016 RBP to get it to even play games for an extended period of time; first thing I did when I got my new RBA15 and still hit 17500 in Firestrike at 82C CPU max:

https://insider.razer.com/index.php?threads/the-no-compromises-ultra-performance-ice-cold-endless-battery-razer-blade-14-optimization-guide.29837/

https://github.com/stonevil/Razer_Blade_Advanced_early_2019_Hackintosh (yeah, this guide is for Hackintoshing a RBA15, but the BIOS unlock, undervolting, etc. sections are priceless)

u/B_Yanarchy · 1 pointr/razer

A heavy duty cooling pad brought my framerates up WAY more than I thought it would, I can't recommend one enough. I use this one, its a bit pricey but absolutely worth every penny. I get about a 5-10 degree difference on the CPU and GPU. That particular cooler is great because you can plug it into the wall with a standard micro USB charger, which not only powers the fan but also the 4-port USB hub to prevent overworking the Blade's port.

u/The_Neuroscientist · 1 pointr/razer

Also, for 2666MHz, how do these two compare? Hyper X and Ballistix

Also, this is the 3200 Hyper X. I know the clock speed is higher, but the CL goes from 15 to 20. I am thinking the 2666 CL15 may be the best value

I was a beautiful sleeve! SADLY.......... .6 inches not wide enough. I was hoping there'd be some give since I saw the specs. I gave it to a friend who needed a sleeve for a ZenBook. I also bought this, perfect fit: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HCF0ZMI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Hey, maybe you guys can help me out! This is totally on topic.

I'm looking to replace my dying DeathAdder... I've loved the mouse, but it has been dying for a long time and now it just needs replacing. I would get another DeathAdder, but I want more buttons. So Mamba seems to be the choice.

But, I see different prices on different sites, and some don't have all the details... just how many Mamba verisons are there? Are these two the exact same model?

Oh, and how long has the current Mamba that's on the site now been there?

$100 at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Razer-Mamba-Rechargable-Wireless-Gaming/dp/B0054JGGGY

$130 at Razer: http://www.razerzone.com/store/razer-mamba

They do appear to be the same model, but you don't normally see such a drastic difference in price.

Thanks in advance! (I'm going to cross post this to get more input, sorry for the spam!)

u/Addyct · 1 pointr/razer

So, your formatting is a bit sloppy up there. To clarify, you're looking for a hub with 3 USB3 port, HDMI, and Ethernet. Sound right?

To get what you seem to be looking for, try searching for USB-C "Docks" instead of "hubs". This one from Dell seems to be the most popular on amazon. There are a great number of options available though.

u/moistchunk · 2 pointsr/razer

What you can do is order some replacement ear pads that make the 633 and 933 much more comfortable.

Something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Replacement-Headband-Compatible-Logitech-Headphones/dp/B072Z7VX9Z/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=replacement+earpads+logitech&qid=1557730553&s=gateway&sr=8-5

I actually had a limited edition Battlefield G933 that had wonderful earpad cushions, and I've just been stripping them off and applying them to every Logitech headset I get. Still not quite as comfy as my Razer headsets, though, but better than default.

u/HumanSnatcher · 1 pointr/razer

I suggest this one. I use it on my desktop and its been rock solid for a while now. I went with that one because I didn't want to pay for a fullsize version of my TKL Cooler Master Pro S but still wanted the tactile feel and click of the Cherry Blues in my CM. I took a chance and am really glad that I did.

I have the same issue on my non-razer headphones (using bose) where there seems to be a fluctuating ringing. I ran into the issue when I tried plugging in through USB instead of 3.5mm jack (using a converter like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0719PKWNT/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

Would you happen to be plugging this into a powered USB hub, or even the Razer Base Station headset stand? If yes, we may be having the same issue. My solution was to plug the headphones into a 3.5mm audio input port instead of a powered USB input.

u/fredhabsfan · 1 pointr/razer

LOL they dont even know how to set to default a synapse profile for my keyboard, i dont know how they could answer my questions about PCIe lanes and specific thunderbolt 3 questions.

I could give it a try, but no big hopes.

Dude, there's vastly better options out there, see my reply to 'Chikec8', which I will reproduce below:

"Sorry to hear of your condition, if you can afford it have you looked at Asus Zephrus (GX501)?
https://www.asus.com/us/Laptops/ROG-ZEPHYRUS-GX501/

This thing with a 2070 is going for $2k on amazon.com right now, $800 less than 2019 Razer Blade Pro with the same CPU and GPU and with vastly better build quality (that hinge ventilation design is awesome).

https://www.amazon.com/Zephyrus-GeForce-i7-9750H-Windows-GX531GW-AB76/dp/B07QN3683G/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=Asus+Strix+SCAR+III&qid=1564250582&s=gateway&sr=8-6

There's also Asus' 15" Scar 3, with a 240 Hz display and a desktop 2070 to consider:
https://www.asus.com/us/Laptops/ROG-Strix-SCAR-III/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-qiJE3fWBw&t

So many better alternatives to overpriced Razer crap, I don't know how people even consider this brand, especially with their history of designing products around a central design ethos of "Engineered Obsolescence" (designing products so that they have a limited life-span and will need to be replaced in entirety by the end consumer. See: soldering components to the motherboard and avg. operating temperatures of 85-90C)"

u/FallingSolstice · 2 pointsr/razer

If you want to take a step further, I’d recommend an
Elevated Laptop Stand, a mechanical keyboard and the razer deathadder elite.

I did this to my desk and now it’s like a full desktop setup :’) next step now is affording an external monitor...

u/skybob22 · 2 pointsr/razer

Based on what you're describing, what you're looking for is probably less of a hub and more of a USB-C/Thunderbolt dock.

I have this CalDigit USB-C Dock which I use with my Blade 14". The build quality is very nice and sturdy and it tends to work fairly well. Though your mileage may vary.

It doesn't charge the blade 14" though b/c you can't push 165W of power through USB-C, but it should be able to charge the stealth just fine. There are also other USB-C/Thunderbolt docks such as Dell's WD15 Dock and Pluggable's USB-C Dock. Though most USB-C/Thunderbolt docks tend to have a mixed bag of reviews, so make sure to do your research before selecting one.

Though as for the "Affordable" part, that depends on what you consider affordable. Most of the docks tend to cost around $150

A hub, which is normally unpowered (No external supply besides the usb connection), would probably have similar ports and be cheaper, but likely would not charge the computer

u/Matthew9559 · 1 pointr/razer

I use this dock as well. Does the job and price isn't too bad (all docks are expensive). Dell WD15

Right now I just have my mouse/keyboard/webcam hooked up to it and it drives my single LG Ultrawide at 3440x1440 without a hiccup.

I'm currently using Dell's type c hub for my Blade 14. Works just as intended. I plug it in when ever I'm at my desk to connect two external monitors, a mouse, a keyboard, ethernet, speakers, and an external hard drive.
