It's definitely worth it though. The 2016 Macbook i'm afraid to use the included cable with because it's really rigid and does not pull out easily. Theres also weight on the connector when it's in your lap, so the breakaway cable is a good investment. The magnets are strong enough not to fall off for no reason, and it charges at the same rate as a regular cord.
DIY: Easy to make with EL tape or EL wire. You can solder it up yourself or buy a lot from a site like Adafruit

Take a look at the Snoogle - it's pretty damn comfy and around $60. Also if you use it every day for a year or more then $100 is actually pretty cheap especially if it improves your sleep every night.

Not sure if their quality has changed in 2.75 years, but mine is still holding up well and it’s appreciably longer than a standard body pillow and HEAVY as all get out. 10/10 would snuggle nightly
