You might consider a mattress for the pack'n'play to make it a lot more comfortable. We had this one and it worked great: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006Z2BZBU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I really can't blame kids for not being able to sleep on the hard surface of pack'n'plays :) Ours actually slept in the pack'n'play until ~18 months or so because he kept getting his foot/hand stuck in the crib and waking up really mad.

Have you tried something even dimmer? I bought dimmable nightlights on Amazon that get incredibly dim. They cycle through rainbow colors, or can be one solid color that you select.

Here is the link

When my son is awake, I'm happy to take a pic in his room of how dim it is when we use it.

Yess, this is excellent advice!! We share a bedroom with our son and have invested in these black out curtains

we also have this white noise machine which is inexpensive and works wonders (our alexa echo dot kept fading in and out after an hour and waking him, it was so annoying).

the blackout curtains hide any light from electronics that might distract him and add to the dark, nighttime effect. sleep training while room sharing is definitely possible!

we didnt sleep train until he was 5 months old though, id give your little one more time.

Hey! It seems like you know what you're talking about... How do you combat books like https://www.amazon.com/dp/0345518470/ (Sweet Sleep) that say CIO is bad for brain development and has long term negative consequences? Ever since reading that book, my wife is ANTI-CIO and as such, we're hardcore bed sharing / attachment parents now... which kinda sucks but the kiddo loves it and we get plenty of sleep.... But HE has to be attached to us to sleep, forever now.

thank you, i think that is now our plan. he went to sleep about 20 min after his feeding and slept until 6am.

We've been reading multiple books, though this is the one we have been sticking to this one the most, partially because her practice is in Santa Monica, so if we needed help we were going to make an appointment with her.

We had the temperature issue and then got Ecobee and put sensors around the house. At bedtime the thermostat runs off of the sensors in both the girls rooms, which are the hottest rooms in the house. Their rooms stay at 69/70 and our room goes down to 62 sometimes. Since my husband and I have mastered keeping covers on by now, we deal just fine. Also my daughter really liked these wearable blankets:

I have this https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00LGE21R4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_-3FEzbX06AWMH found for $12 at winners. There's also this https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00MVU9A3U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_s5FEzbDGBFPC6 that I considered buying. My son has only muslin blankets though and he rubs his face on those instead so I didn't get it.

We started using a Bitta Kidda sleep sack and she looooves it. Bitta Kidda Baby Soother Sleeping Bag Wearable Blanket + Lovey - Blue Circles 3M https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06X6C1J75/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_vfnqDbNYJMZR0

She was using a plain sleep sack before and she would always grab the fabric in the front and put it in her mouth. Her whole neck was wet! When we switched to this one, the only parts that were wet were the little attached loveys. They're so soft she found them very soothing.

We use a pacifier clip like this(amazon).

She puts it in if she wants it or leaves it out.

You could also do one of those door knob covers that make it hard for little hands to turn the knob

When I night weaned my daughter at 14 months (she's 20 months now), I started keeping a sippy of water in her crib. I always put it in the same corner so she knows where it is. It absolutely made a difference, now she doesn't need me in the middle of the night anymore (unless something is wrong). She grabs her cup, takes a sip, and lays back down. She also likes to hold it while she sleeps.

I recommend this brand (what I use), unless you want something more for an older kid. My LO seems to prefer water cups with handles, it's easier to grab in the dark. Hell, she prefers to snuggle her sippy more than the suffed animals in her crib!

My wife is a teacher so she took the rest of this school year off and will head back in the fall, so we're very lucky that we can keep up with the routine.

We've successfully transitioned to a 3 nap routine and the afternoon nap is by far the hardest. Keeping the light to a minimum has helped. I just, recently, installed this film over the window in her nursery and have some thick curtains that go over it. We had been using two of these black out curtains prior but it was difficult opening and closing the sliding door/letting in sunlight when it wasn't nap time.

Where was he napping previously? Depending on that you might be able to adjust the crib environment.

Wouldn't necessarily do all of these myself, but something to consider
