I got a 8-6 2 piece for shore casting for salmon in Lake ontario. I needed to get out far so my Lure could get down deeper longer, I found one on amazon for 30 I have no complaints so far.

For me fishing in low/no light (evenings /night) was very common so I use a spinning reel since you can't really see when your Lure hits the water in the dark, baitcaster would be birds nest city!
I picked up a daiwa crossfire 3000 it's around 30 on amazon, again no complaints.
I spool it with 30lbs braid which is the same diameter as 8 lbs and use a leader if I need to use mono fluro.
