  1. What I advise you to do the following:
    1. Get PPF (Paint Protection Film) full front (if you can afford it)
    2. After the PPF, get a ceramic coating done. there’s a lot of debate of it’s actually needed or effective but I’ve seen many many cases where either side can be “correct” in the sense you can’t go wrong diy vs. getting it done professionally. There are plenty of people here who have done it themselves but please refer to r/Autodetailing if you’re interested. I choose to get mine done professionally and I don’t regret it one bit. Helps to maintain the car very easy. Here’s a pic after getting ppf and coating done: https://i.imgur.com/v3Lpn9g.jpg
  2. I use two bucket method (LOT of tutorials on google and youtube) Here’s a list of every single thing related I purchased for doing my own car wash:
    1. ONR Solution
    2. Chemical Guys MIC_507_06 Professional Grade Premium Microfiber Towel, Gold (16 in. x 24 in.) (Pack of 6)
    3. 2 of Meguiar’s X2000 Water Magnet Microfiber Drying Towel, 1 Pack
    4. Relentless Drive Ultimate Car Wash Mitt - 2 Pack Extra Large Size - Premium Chenille Microfiber Wash Mitt - Wash Glove - Lint Free - Scratch Free
    5. Chemical Guys MIC_7071 Glass and Window Waffle Weave Towel, Red (24 in. x 16 in.)
    6. Grit Guard (2x)
    7. Solo 418 One-Hand Pressure Sprayer, 1-Liter, Ergonomic Grip for Gardening, Fertilizing, Cleaning & General Use Spraying
    8. Windshield Window Cleaner Tool, Unbreakable Extendable Long-Reach Handle, Unique Pivoting Triangular Head, 3 Washable Reusable Microfiber Bonnets, Car & Home Inside Interior Exterior Use - Lint Free
    9. Buy 2 5 gallons buckets at Home Depot/Lowe’s
  3. Tesla should do it for free but some people do end up paying $25-60 but usually free. Hope this helps!

I bought this one from Amazon that looks identical to the Taptes one but costs around $27 vs the $40 they're asking. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01N4OQQSJ/ref=ya_aw_oh_bia_dp?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . It looks like there are several brands there that are similar for around that $30 price. In any case, we're happy with ours for occasional use (a few times a month) with our 100 pound Doberman. It keeps him in a safe, comfortable position and traps most of his fur, even when he's shedding. The only thing you need to do is adjust the headrest straps when you first get it. It's very easy to fold up and stow, or move between cars.

Thanks for the compliment! Got my wrap at EV wraps. Not saying they are the best but they have an easier install template. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GVR5DKC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

As for the blue led interior lights... You can order them at Abstract Ocean and for any color you like. I think the deep blue is the best option for a dark interior mood lighting. https://www.abstractocean.com/pick-and-mix-led-lights-model-3/

u/HighYield · 1 pointr/teslamotors

Don't know why it got removed. This was original text.

" I didn't think the smudgy chrome bothered me until I got the wraps. These things look sharp. The guy who makes them is on here somewhere and there's probably some rule against promoting your own stuff but it's not my company, I just have them on my car and think they look awesome. I love that my stock black is now just a little different than other 3s. They are super worth $20 and took no time to install. Been about a month, still look and feel perfect. I have no bad things to say about this product. Check out the pics on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GNY1VRR "

u/DL05 · 1 pointr/teslamotors

I am interested in if the 2nd gen is enough of an improvement to buy that one.

It’s custom sized, but the foam is “pluck-able”:
Pick and Pluck - Pre-Cubed foam tray 300 mm x 300 mm x 50 mm (11.8 inch x 11.8 inch x 2 inch) plus FREE bottom https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZFTEM0U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_daD4CbPS52FG8

It made it super easy to size.

u/DDotJ · 42 pointsr/teslamotors

A few extras I recommend:

  • Dash Cam for sure, I recommend the Blackvue cameras.

  • The Abstract Ocean LED light upgrade The lights that come with the car are pretty weak, and they make a huge difference in the trunk.

  • Abstract Ocean Key Fob Covers which come in leather and silicon (I personally prefer the leather ones, I had both and the silicon didn't hold up very long for me)

  • If you have a large USB music collection, this Low Profile USB Storage Stick will hold your music and it won't stick out like a sore thumb (drive)

  • Model S and X don't come with spare tires, so this Tire Repair Kit from Tesla could come in handy if you have a small leak and don't have time to call roadside assistance

  • I sleep in my car from time to time, so I leave a Tesla Blanket (unfortunately looks like those are no longer available) and a sleeping bag in the frunk. It's very comfy

  • This flashlight has come in handy countless times, it's nice to carry around and it's powerful too

  • A first aid kit and a ResQMe Car Escape Tool which is a spring loaded window breaker and seat belt cutter.

Congrats and enjoy your new car!

Hey guys, I'm getting a P3D and have a question about Sentry mode/Tesla Cam recording. I've bought a JEDA Box because I wanted to keep a Wireless charger + a SSD for recording.

Would it be better to go for a portable SSD like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078SWJ3CF?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share&th=1 , or a SD card with a reader like this: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Endurance-128GB-Micro-Adapter/dp/B07B984HJ5/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title ?

I'm just trying to find the best solution + disk size needed if I wanted to keep it installed for a while. I live in TX so the car may be outside during the summers if that affects the temperatures of the devices, not too sure what to go for.

u/mblakele · 1 pointr/teslamotors

The blackvue is popular and sounds nice, but I didn't feel the need for the wifi or cloud features. So I went with a pair of Rexing V1 cameras, front and rear. For power I made a y-cable and attached it to the extra 12V connector in the headliner compartment. Then I ran power cables through the headliner. The front cable is pretty much out of view. The cable for the rear camera runs exposed for several inches from the rear pillar to the back window — not ideal, but it doesn't bother me.

A year later, I'm happy with the Rexing. Video quality seems fine. I haven't had to use it for anything serious yet, but it helped me identify an object that whacked into me on the freeway.

Here are some of the parts I used. If you do your own installation, pick up some micro2 fuses. It's easy to blow one while working on the power supply. You'll also need a multimeter so you can identify the correct wires for 12V power.

Thank you too for the civil debate. I really don't understand the hate for us hydrogen fans. I think H2 has enormous potential that hasn't even begun to be unlocked. Maybe I'm wrong. But even if I am, batteries need a lot of work. No doubt huge game changing research and breakthroughs will happen. Here's another hydrogen link I just came across due to another debate:

>Can renewables really produce enough hydrogen to make a difference? Figure 2 answers this question for the USA, providing a county-by-county indication of the hydrogen potential from solar, wind, and biomass – compared to gasoline consumption in the US alone.
http://www.renewableenergyfocus.com/view/3157/hydrogen-production-from-renewables/

And a book- it's $121, so you probably won't want to rush to the order page but I'm about 1/2 way through it and it is extremely convincing, literally packed with footnotes and sources.

Solar Hydrogen: Fuel of the Future
Renewable hydrogen produced using solar energy to split water is the energy fuel of the future.
http://www.amazon.com/Solar-Hydrogen-Future-Mario-Pagliaro/dp/1849731950/

If anyone has any interest at all it's an exceptional book. The roadmap to the future of energy. This book is a game changer.

Oh and one last thing, your first comment here:
>A supercharging station can be installed much faster and cheaper than an H2, station

How long is that Squamish Station going to take anyway? Is it 3 weeks that they've been working on it? Installing a H2 fueling station in 48 hours (Granted it has to be built first)

For anyone interested and for more visibility:

Okay, so my cable just came in the mail. It is this one:

Electop USB 2.0 A Male to... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B017OQ26OA?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

One end is marked data and charge and the other charge only. I have my nomad pad going into the car directly on the left side and the right side of the nomad pad into the charge only side of the cable. A standard usb thumb drive is attached to the data and usb side.

Tested dash cam successfully multiple times. Appears to work great. Video was on the drive when I checked.

Tested my phone charging for 10 minutes on each side and charge percentage increase appeared the same on both sides. Not sure if there is an app or method in iOS to determine what actual wattage it is getting. But my understanding with the nomad is that it charges a battery first in the nomad and then quick charges the phones. Either way it appears similar to times measured before the adapter.

So as far as I can tell everything works great and as expected.

u/mat101010 · 2 pointsr/teslamotors

Myself and a number of other owners have opted for this cover that goes under the car seat. That said, the white seats are super easy to take care of - I don't consider this a must-have and not all car seats are designed to work on top of a seat cover.

I do think some sort of cover for the seat backs (protecting the back of the diver's seat) is a must. Perhaps something like this

u/Eldanon · 1 pointr/teslamotors

I just do the Aero Wash Wax All once a week and sometimes spot clean when kids get their prints on the doors.

With my silver cars I barely ever did anything but I also cared a lot less. The black is a total finger print magnet. There aren’t any touchless washes close enough to me that I’d go to all the time. For now the 15 mins per week wash seems to work ok :)

Thanks for the tip. I saw this adapter on Amazon as well. Do you think it could be just as good?

u/SuperPCUserName · 3 pointsr/teslamotors

It's really really rough man, I feel like moron drivers are almost attracted to the car too. Just yesterday I was stuck in front of this guy who I could see in my rearview mirror texting and driving. He had to slam on his brakes FOUR times before I finally got a chance to get in the next lane and get out of his way.

Oh and definitely definitely DEFINITELY get a camera. I found this one on Amazon to be one of the cheapest yet high quality cameras around. I paid 150 for it but right now it's only 99 for an easy to install, high quality camera.

The optimal Storage solution for dashcam functionality would be a usb SSD like this one for example.

SSDs can withstand way more write-cycles than normal usb sticks due to their more advanced controllers (only relevant if you don't use the entire drive's capacity) and higher binned flash chips.

u/atlastracer · 1 pointr/teslamotors

Hopefully! I know it's not an issue with filling up as I have a 32gb and I had 1 session saved to it before and after the reformat I hadn't saved anything yet.

What brands are your USB sticks? Maybe it's an issue with the brand.

I have a hammock with side flaps and it would keep all the hair contained 100% if I didn't use the seatbelt hole, but I like to keep her buckled in. I see there are others where the side flaps zipper up - that might be a good choice for you.

u/Dr_Pippin · 1 pointr/teslamotors

Sure thing! $18 on Amazon. Here you go:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DKC6IY6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_MWRaBbN5EZXP7

And I used Meguiar’s Gold Class soap, $10 for a gallon at Advance Auto. And I picked up four (2 2-packs) of these in X-Large size (having 4 is nice because you clean one section of the car with one, then grab a brand new one for the next section of car, no rinsing required):

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B011B25IXY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_iYRaBb1CG00GR

Our car seat doesn’t slide at all. I have a very nice seat protector which I bought when we had a bmw. Then when we got the tesla I moved it over. I use both latch points and the tether for the top hook. Also I put all my weight down on the car seat while I tighten the latch strap. No problems here other then having to dust off my leather seat anytime I remove the car seat for other reasons.

FYI this is the seat protector I purchased and highly recommend it. It’s well worth the extra premium vs Chinese crap. Doesn’t stain leather. I removed the blue inserts on mine

Until there is a blackvue deal or the 4k version goes on massdrop, I bought a couple DDPai Mini dash cams and theyve been working well.

Since they are powered by the typical microusb input, I was actually thinking about using the Anker Powercore 20000 as they have it rated from -40F to 158F, which should be fine. Wiring both to the center console where this battery would charge via QC3.0 from the 12V.

I just need to find time to wire them neatly

u/martinkoistinen · 2 pointsr/teslamotors

My controllers are these: Logitech Gamepad F710 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0041RR0TW/. I don’t see anything in the description about unifying receiver.

TBH, I only plug these in when I’m gaming. I can easily pull them out and put them in the little holders I added in the print if I need to plug something else in. :)

I bought this https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00FJRS6QY?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

It is absolutely minimal and almost invisible. At the same time it records everything properly.

Btw, You don't need 128gb imho, at least yet.

Does anyone see any issue with using this as the TeslaCam drive?

I tried it and it didn't work either, but I don't have V9 yet, though that shouldn't matter.

What USB stick is the community buying for dash cam (specifically Model 3)? What feature is most important?

Some say even touchless is dangerous (due to grit being recycled through). I either do two bucket or use Wash Wax All with microfiber cloths (1 to apply and 1 to dry). I keep a kit in the well in the trunk particularly for wiping bugs off.

Can you explain what you mean by 'get'? I bought the ebook from Amazon.ca a while ago so I feel like I must be misunderstanding you.

Guys it's about the read write speed. My old one worked on V9 because it was 300mb/s but it was only recording 3 cameras. With the introduction of the 4th back up camera, 300mb/s wasn't fast enough and I started getting the error. After I bought one with 550mb/s read write, I haven't had any issues since.

What would be a disaster for launch reliability. Have you read https://www.amazon.com/Elon-Musk-SpaceX-Fantastic-Future/dp/0062301233 ?

In that book the Shipping / Environmental harm caused to the rockets was very real.
