Great post. I can't really have much to say except that I agree with all the points.
It's a smaller picture, as the voice of the internet has affected general media and modern society already. On a different topic, Rumors these days get spun out of control (video game or other topics). Just look at the recent "Nintendo NX" leaks lately. It's like I'm back in HS.
Since you talked about Community and online, you might be interested in this book that the late Satoru Iwata referenced
http://www.amazon.com/Alone-Together-Expect-Technology-Other/dp/0465031463
I use Xbox 360 controller. It works amazing. Most games have it already setup and the keys map as soon as you plug the controller in.
The controller I use. I honestly hate the keyboard/mouse. (will probably get hate for that) but I cant stand them. I have played on consoles only except for the last year or so and I still love the controller.
If you're in a sporting store perhaps, but there's a range of solid bags you can find on amazon that are much better value, e.g: this one
I'll add this thematically similar recommendation: Sleepless, by Charlie Huston.
It takes place in LA instead of New York, but it's about what happens when the city falls apart due to an incurable plague. In the novel, it's insomnia. The story bounces between a detective and an assassin. I love the book for its atmosphere and world-building, as well as for the way it answers the question of what systems and power structures emerge when urban civilization collapses.
This would be a possible solution for now: http://www.amazon.com/Headset-Hands-free-Adapter-Microphone-Generation/dp/B000YE35I6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1457984532&sr=8-3&keywords=headset+mute+switch
Are you able to remap any of the controller buttons in the settings? Are you able to modify any of the config files?
It's a pretty specific issue. The devs may address it in the future, but I'm sure they're busy with other pertinent issues. You may just need to find your own solution for now.
I'm still advocating for getting the SSD over an SSHD so I'm not really doing a 180 degree turn. I just got tired of trying to convince you of the technicals.
I laid out reasons for preferring it besides just absolute performance increases - future proof for next systems and will see an even larger increase in performance when you get a SATA3 capable system.
Your reasons make sense from your point of view, and are fairly logical sure, but both decisions are valid. I think it is more logical to get an SSD, you prefer to save money and are content with 80% of the performance (at best).
Ok. To me, the cost difference is a complete non-factor. I get that won't be the same for everyone.
Here, you wanted a reasonably priced SSD which is also rated as the best SSD to get for an xbox one (the system I use).
I don't need 2TB of storage. Plenty of games are still under 20-30GB. Hell, by the time this drive is full and I need to upgrade, the price on the 1TB will have dropped to be close to this 500GB model.
Yeah, I am pretty salty about this as well. I wish Uplay would just match the price for a day or two...maybe black friday will have a flash sale.

above is the link i used to try and get amazon to price match...we shall see, but if more folks PM it the better the odds.
Do you need to be able to game on the go, or do you need a laptop for other non-gaming requirements? You could have a much more powerful setup with a laptop > Thunderbolt > eGFX enclosure and a nice graphics card inside. Something like this, then put whatever card you want inside (cooling requirements notwithstanding): https://www.amazon.com/Sonnet-Breakaway-Thunderbolt-Expansion-GPU-350W-TB3Z/dp/B072L9QTZT
Not long till they do, I used to see the wish app was flooded with these for games like PUBG and FORTNITE
Edit: quick google search came up with this “make your own custom acrylic light” https://mrledsign.com/products/custom-led-sign-color-changing-desktop-sign-laser-engraved-neon-like-remote-control-5-sizes-6-8-12-16-20-made-in-usa
Edit: even cheaper if you can get a piece of acrylic like OP and have it laser etched you can just buy the LED LIGHT BASE from amazon here.

Tampering with packets, outside the box, would probably cost ... let's see... $9, with free two-day-shipping for anyone who has a desktop with a free PCI port. Most of the kinds of people who've got the knowledge to do it won't even need to spend the $9 though, as they'll already have the parts laying around.
Wireshark, as well as WireEdit are quite free. Not that I think their costing money would stop the sort of people who're gonna use them to cheat at a video game from obtaining them for free...
None of that bricks consoles.
Yep just looked on Amazon now and there are a few that look good:
[Community Skin 1] (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Playstation-Console-Decal-Sticker-Division-Controller-Skins/dp/B01BFT3UBA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1456846575&sr=8-2&keywords=the+division+ps4+skin)
Official Ubisoft Skin
Official White Skin Ubisoft
Note: All UK prices and sold on the Amazon UK marketplace
I just have the optical audio from the xbox into the mixamp, and a usb from xbox to mixamp. The headset goes into a cord like this -
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00IM36VU0/ref=pd_aw_sim_63_3?ie=UTF8&dpID=41QUvxEpI3L&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL100_SR100%2C100_&refRID=1J61PFDAQB2KF3ZRW069
Which should have come with your mixamp, and that's it, mine worked right off.
I actually only just got this stuff this week, the Sennheiser's are awesome!
I use a gamecon headset bluetooth that I got from gamestop a while back for like 45$ bucks. Best money I ever spent, it even has bass on it too.

Okay dokay!
http://www.walmart.com/ip/RCA-10-Viking-Pro-with-WiFi-10.1-Touchscreen-Tablet-PC-Featuring-Android-5.0-Lollipop-Operating-System/44185465
RCA Viking Pro 10.1, OS version: 5.0, front and rear facing cameras. Model# RCT6303W87DK
http://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Fire-7-Inch-Tablet-8GB/dp/B00TSUGXKE
Amazon Fire 7: with Google Play Services side loaded. OS version: 5.1.2.1, based on android lollipop (5.0~). Front and rear facing cameras. Model# Fire (5th generation)
When your app is side loaded (skipping compatibility checks), everything works except for the camera scan function, which gives an error about it not being compatible with either tablet. A solution might be to allow for a picture already taken to be imported. Hope something there helps, if you need a beta tester some time just give a shot.
it might be helpful to link the screenshot/video so we have a quick reference.
I just bought this bag recently and really like it. I don't think it is quite what you are looking for, but maybe it helps.
It's nothing special, just bought an external SSD and plugged it in via the USB port on the front of the ps. Moved the game over from the internal drive etc and good to go
I bought a 512gb Adata drive last Autumn as it was on offer on Amazon. This one:
ADATA SD700 512GB Durable External 3D NAND Solid State Drive, IP68 Dustproof Waterproof, Military-Grade Shockproof, Up to 440MB/s Read and Write, Black (ASD700-512GU3-CBK) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01N1GPFXC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_0uHgDbVZQ1ARX
360 1. You should pick one up, The grey leather band one is only $142 on amazon which is a great deal even though it is only 1st gen.
This is the adapter I bought; it's pretty cheap. You might get a USB 3.1 version if you have a newer/slim PS4 since it supports it.
looked at amazon to post a link looks like was a price error and now at $42.50 still a great price with all dlcs
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZQ7UMUU?tag=isthcom0a-20&th=1
