My name is Roger Darry Garamand. I've been living in Brazil for 6 years now. I started running more seriously about three years ago now, I ran in highschool/college and from 20 to 30 I didn't run at all, drank a lot, didn't do anything healthy.

The first race I did in my flipflops/sandals here. I like to say they're my "Havaiaraches" [pun/joke combining "Havaianas" a famous sandal brand in Brazil, with huaraches] I was watching a video about how to make running sandals, called huaraches, which became very famous because of the book "Born to Run" a book about how human beings were built to run, and really don't need that many things to run. We're always looking for ways to buy and sell things for whatever purpose, but running is something very simple. We can run naked with no running/tennis shoes or anything.

So, one year ago I started running "minimally", with really thin shoes, and with "zero-drop", because normally running shoes have, sort of a high heel, which isn't good for your body because you end up not running as naturally and it can result in a lot of pain in your body. So, I was simply doing things in a more and more minimalist way until I ended up watching that video about how to make huaraches at home. I started trying to make them with an old pair of running shoes I had, but as I was looking at where to place the holes, I saw that it was the same place where Havaianas already have holes, and everyone has lots of Havaianas at home.

So I took a really old pair of Havaianas, and some paracord and elastic and threw it all together. I made these last week, and ran with them this whole week and was liking them a lot. I felt totally free while I was running, and wasn't even thinking about what was on my feet. I decided to run this 100km race with them today, and it was excellent! I actually ran with two pairs, as I was afraid one might break so I had a "backup" in my pack. I simply grabbed it and threw it on the ground—I think theres a video of when I was running with just one shoe, yeah! But as I was running I was thinking, like, 'Man! It's possible to run totally barefoot, I think I'll take off the other one and run a little bit like that.'

But it was excellent during the race, it didn't give me any trouble at all, and I think I'm going to run much more with them. And you can make them easily at home! You just need to find a video online about how to make huaraches and grab your old Havaianas to make a pair of Havaiaraches!

But there are plenty of people who are never going to run like this, with sandals like this, because people are afraid to try new things, but just go out there on the trail. If you like them, use them, if you don't then leave them at home, but you don't need to be scared. People need to try new things, because thats how this sport is going to become more interesting for everyone, I think. Because you always need to push your limits, not simply to run faster, but sometimes to take up a new challenge. Try to run in a different way or with better form. No one wants to because it takes time and can be annoying, but its very important.

But for me, running is totally something to improve my mind, theres nothing better than getting out of the house and just running. Its like, all the pressure in your head, all the pressure in your life just disappears. So run! I think the world would be a much better place if everybody did a little bit of this. But it doesn't have to be running, you need to find the thing that you love to do with your own body... and, thats it!

I think it will be a really cool addition to their home, and the kid can learn geography from it. And yes, this is up-to-date and it includes the nation of South Sudan, which became a country in 2011. I plan to present the 2 preceding coins at the same time as the globe. First, I want to show those the two coins, side by side (like with the symbolic visual meaning of Christianity being brought to the world--these girls are very religious, at least in the sense that they talk about God's role in their lives very often), and then present the globe and place the coins against it, with the Nunes one where Portugal is, and the Aparecida one where Brazil is! As you can see, I like to give gifts that people can learn from and find some special meaning in. All the things are scheduled to be delivered by February 7, which is not too many days away, so I'm very excited about all this!

Phew. Those bracketed sentences are insane. If you think modern German is complicated because it splits up some verbs, try 18th century German.

Steps:

1. add flour to mixing bowl, add hot water, stir with chopstick, then add cold water and knead dough, then add veg oil and knead until shiney. Cover with wet cloth and allowed to rise for 15-20 minutes. (I used a bread machine, interrupting it to add hot and cold water. I watched it coalese then added oil. After it's mixed I put in plastic bowl and cover to rise for 1 hour)
   
   
2. Divide dough into 120 (?) chunks, roll into 0.5cm thick round "biscuit", coat a little oil on top, then roll into long roll, then twist (roll back into a plate shape?) leave to rise for 20-30 minutes (Just roughly divide into 6 portions and knead) (Upper is when it's flattened and oiled, lower is when it's rolled back into a "plate")
   
   
3. Once the dough rose roll them into 0.3 cm thick chunks (I rolled them into the size of my pan!)
   
   
4. Coat pan with oil, and bake it on medium until done (I heated the pan first, then oil, then the dough, careful! Thin crust means it's easy to burn!)
   
   
5. Take out the pan fried dough and coat the surface with the sweet bean paste, then add marinated beef, chopped green onions, and parsley to taste (my marinated beef is already nicely flavored so it's a little too flavorful with the sweet bean paste, so go easy on the paste, you can add more if there's not enough. I mixed parsley and green onions, minced, and sprinkled it on top of beef)
   
   How do do the marinated beef?
   
   3 pieces of beef loins, quick go in hot water to get all the blood out. Use a deep pan (enough for quite a bit of liquid), add 150 g soy sauce, 30 g sugar, 10 g salt, 2 star anise, 2 pieces of vanilla, 4 rice bowls of water (the beef must be WELL covered by liquid) bring to boil, then keep it on medium/low until beef is tender (probably 60-90 minutes).
   
   (I used a pressure cooker... 1 prepacked marinade ingredient pack, 1 small piece of ginger, 2 pieces of hot chili, 350cc soy sauce, 130cc of soy sauce paste, 1 big tea spoon of rock sugar, 250cc of mijiu (rice wine -- cooking), 1500 cc of water, and 2 pieces of green onions. Once pressure has been achieved go low heat for 15-20 minutes. Test with chopstick. If not tender enough, high heat until pressurized, then low heat for another 10. Leave it to marinate overnight.

   Translator note: You can probably just use Lee Kum Kee's "Chinese Marinade" for the beef, same idea, rather than trying to make your own marinade. Probably won't be as flavorful, but you'll save a lot of time. Also, I think you're supposed to thin slice the beef (kinda like Arby's, or deli slices)

Here's some more information about the movie which might be useful for searching; it was made in 1970 by Toei (東映) , directed by Yukio Noda (野田幸雄) starring Tatsuo Umemiya (梅宮辰夫).

Then for non-subscribers they have a 2020-01-20 release date for Part 2 Volume 2 which roughly covers 104-133 of the WN.

You can't just randomly rearrange the words in Japanese to whatever part of speech you want to make them until you get something that resembles sensible English and call it a translation. You can't just have the model name modify the steel type, or mix up the model type and steel type. Neither English nor Japanese works like that.

日本包丁 -- "Japan Knife" -- This refers to the style or category of blade. It is probably a reference to the fact that it's a Santoku. Normally, 日本包丁 is not used as a description of knife model in Japan as there's hundreds of "Japanese knives" in Japan.

輝 -- "Radiance" "Brilliance" -- This refers to the model or name of the knife. "Kagayaki" if you care to pronounce it.

本鋼 -- At first appearance appears to say "True steel", a reference to the type of steel used for the knife (e.g. carbon content, etc.), but I've never heard of such a quality, and the only things relating to the name that I can find in Japanese are an abbreviation for this Chinese steel company, and for this 関孫六 line of knife products.

A more accurate translation would be something along the lines of

"Japanese Knife: Radiance. True Steel."

I couldn't find any mention of the product in Japanese sources, but I did find this English webpage. That website says that they import knives direct from Japan, yet I can find no mention of this 日本包丁 輝 本鋼 in Japan.

I am trying to buy some guitar strings on Amazon and I found this image on this product page. I had been trying to figure out what the difference is between the two types of strings pictured, and this image appears to explain, but it's in Japanese.
